C[Wdm^_b[ $$$ In an egg-on-face moment for the government ahead of President Obama’s visit to Virginia, someone stole a Pentagon truck with $200,000 worth of presidential seals, podiums and sound equipment from outside a Henrico County hotel Monday, Richmond TV stations reported. Authorities found the truck later at another hotel, but no one would say whether items inside had been found. No arrests were reported. Whether the thieves knew what they were stealing — or whether they got that “What have I done now?” feeling when they opened the truck — is unclear. (AP)
the expansion of large defense contractors and firms tied to the federal government. Yet picking up states in the South again could be difficult. A recent Elon University poll put the president’s approval rating in North Carolina at 42 percent, and a Quinnipiac University poll had it at 45 percent in Virginia. Obama’s Southern strategy extends beyond the two states. His campaign plans to compete heavily in Florida, the ultra-swing state that decided the 2000 election, and campaign officials consider Georgia a place where they could challenge Republicans on their turf. Three years after his surprising wins in Southern states, President Obama’s re-election campaign is doubling down in the region, hoping to turn changing demographics into electoral wins and offset potential losses in traditional swing states next year. Obama’s Southern strategy is at the heart of the president’s three-day bus trip this week through North Carolina and Virginia. Obama won both states in 2008, becoming the first president to win the Republican strongholds in a generation. With 28 electoral votes up for grabs between them, wins in North Carolina and Virginia could help Obama make up for defeats in Rust Belt states such as Ohio and Indiana, which he won in 2008 but could be hard-pressed to carry next year. Both states have seen economic and demographic changes that could alter the politics. North Carolina’s economy has shifted from textiles and tobacco to banking and research, while the population has boomed in Northern Virginia, with

Higher Bank Fees The New Normal Low interest rates, strict new law prompt institutions’ changes D[m Oeha Higher bank fees are here to stay. The latest third-quarter earnings reports from this week confirm that banks are struggling to make money the old-fashioned way, by lending money to consumers and businesses. The main reason: interest rates are at historic lows. That makes it harder for banks to charge high rates on loans. New rules have also curtailed various kinds of traditional fees, costing banks billions in lost income. These fees include overdraft charges on checking accounts and fees for making late payments on credit cards. So, many of them are making up the difference with fees that aren’t covered by the new rules. Bank of America Corp., which reported results Tuesday, has set off a firestorm over its plan to charge customers $5 a month for using their debit cards. Even President Obama has taken the bank to task.
CWa[ Kf Beij Fhe\_ji Making money the traditional way is becoming tougher for banks. In an effort to make up lost revenue:
Citi will charge $20 a month starting in December to some customers who don’t keep a balance of $15,000 or more in their combined checking, savings and investment accounts or loan balances. Wells Fargo & Co. started testing a $3 monthly fee for debit cards Friday in New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Georgia. JPMorgan Chase & Co. tested a $3 monthly debit card fee in February in Wisconsin and Georgia. Regions Financial Corp. of Alabama introduced a $4 fee for debit cards in October. (AP)
Banks say the latest round of fees was triggered by a new federal law championed by Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois. The law caps the amount banks can charge merchants for debit card usage at about 24 cents per transaction, down from an average of 44 cents. The rule went into effect Oct. 1. PALL AVI GOGOI (AP)
Study: Malaria Vaccine Promising 7jbWdjW The quest for the world’s first malaria vaccine appears to have taken a big step: A study in Africa shows experimental shots cut the risk of disease in children by half. The initial results from a final stage of vaccine testing were published Tuesday by the New England Journal of Medicine, and the vaccine’s developers called it a milestone in helping to tame one of the world’s most devastating killers. However, the vaccine won’t be available for at least three years, as crucial further testing must be
completed to see how well it works in infants and how long protection lasts. Then the vaccine must be reviewed by government agencies in Europe and in individual African countries. “We still have a way to go,” Tsiri Agbenyega, lead researcher for the African study. The early results show the vaccine is only about 50 percent effective, much lower than the protection seen in more common vaccines. But experts said it’s a vast improvement over the current situation and could still save hundreds of thousands of lives. MIKE STOBBE (AP)

Schalit was visible briefly Tuesday as he was ushered into Egypt for an interview with Egyptian state television and finally turned over to Israeli forces. “I thought that I would find myself in this situation many more

Schalit’s release removed one of the main sources of tension between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and raised the prospect that the blockade Israel has imposed on the Gaza Strip for years could be eased. But it seemed unlikely that it would set a new tone for the bellicose relationship between the two. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said signing off on the deal had been “a very difficult decision,’’ and he alluded to possible challenges ahead. ERNESTO LONDONO (THE WASHINGTON POST )

NATO said Tuesday it is considering ending its bombing campaign in Libya, but the decision must consider the threat pro-Moammar Gadhafi fighters still pose to civilians. Some have speculated that the North Atlantic Council, NATO’s top decision-making body, will declare an end to the seven-month Libyan operation when it meets Wednesday. “We are ver y close to t he end, but there are still threats to the civilian population,” NATO spokesman Carmen Romero said Tuesday. Meanwhile, revolutionary forces celebrated the capture of one Gadhafi stronghold and closed in on the last holdouts in the fugitive leader’s hometown of Sirte, putting total victory in their eight-month uprising just city blocks away. “The fighting in Sirte is nearly over,” said Abdul-Hadi Ali, a revolutionary fighter. “I think they have a lot of ammunition, but our fighters will fire Grads and get it over with so maybe tomorrow it will be liberated and bombed, and we will begin the hunt for Gadhafi.” Libyan military spokesman Col. William, who grew up without his natural father in his life, excelled in school and sports, and acted beyond his years. Ronald McCombs, who helped raise William in his early years when he was in a relationship with Jane McQuain, said, “He was a great kid, the kind of kid you hope for.” (T WP)

The Significant Others For the spouses of GOP hopefuls, the scrutiny can be just as fierce
C[[j j^[ 9WdZ_ZWj[iÊ Ifeki[i
7dd Hecd[o" wife of GOP front-runner Mitt Romney, has so far managed to avoid any noticeable missteps, in part because she’s been through a presidential campaign before. She is often credited with softening the former Massachusetts governor’s stiff image, describing him as a devoted father and husband who has stood by her during treatment for multiple sclerosis and breast cancer.
D[m Oeha Ann Romney is a smiling presence at her husband’s side. Gloria Cain doesn’t campaign at all. And Anita Perry raised eyebrows with her claim that her husband had been “brutalized” for his faith. The wives — and one husband — of the 2012 presidential contenders are still learning to manage the unforgiving scrutiny that comes with their role. A spouse can be a priceless asset, validating and humanizing the candidate in voters’ eyes. But an absent spouse can raise questions, and a provocative comment from a spouse can wound the candidate or pull him or her off message at a critical juncture. That’s what happened to Texas Gov. Rick Perry after his wife spoke to voters at North Greenville University in South Carolina a day before Perry was to unveil his energy policy. Intense and weepy at times, Anita Perry sa id her husba nd had come under withering assault in part because of his evangelical Christian faith. “It’s been a rough month,” she said in remarks recorded by NBC News. “We have been brutalized and beaten up and chewed up in the press. We are being brutalized by our opponents and our own party. So much of that is, I think, they look at him — because of his faith.” Rick Perry defended his wife when pressed on whether he agreed with her assertion. But it was unquestionably a distraction for Perry, who had tried to restore his focus on the economy after a month of bad debate performances
CWhYki 8WY^cWdd proved a distraction for his wife, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, when he was forced to defend his Christian counseling business from claims its therapies include “curing” gay patients, though Michele Bachmann has opposed gay rights throughout her political career.
9Wbb_ijW =_d]h_Y^" Newt Gingrich’s third wife, made headlines this summer when her husband was pressed on why he had a $500,000 credit line at Tiffany’s. He left the campaign early on for a cruise with her, causing most of his staff to quit.
and slipping poll numbers. “We look at the spouse to give us some clue as to the character of the candidate,” said Myra Gutin, a Rider University communications professor who studies first ladies.
7d_jW F[hho had been a relatively low-key presence, as she was during her husband’s three campaigns for Texas governor, until her remarks about religion in South Carolina. She’s often appeared with Rick Perry, but rarely speaks. She made an exception in Iowa, reminding Perry, during his defense of in-state college tuition for children of illegal immigrants, to mention that the students must be pursuing U.S. citizenship.
=beh_W 9W_d" wife of pizza magnate Herman Cain, has been nearly invisible. With recent polls showing him surging into a virtual tie with Romney, Herman Cain has faced questions about his wife’s absence. He has said his wife “is a lot more introverted than I am” but said he expects she’ll make an appearance with him around Thanksgiving. AWh[d IWdjehkc has been key to the struggling candidacy of ex-Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, who has discussed his marriage to highlight conservative social issues. They have seven children, including a daughter with severe birth defects. This month, Santorum suggested candidates should be judged on their spouses.
CWho AWo[ >kdjicWd" wife of former Utah governor Jon Huntsman, has been a near-constant presence in New Hampshire, where her husband has focused his campaign. She’s become a regular at restaurants around Concord, even when cameras aren’t rolling. 9Wheb FWkb" Texas Rep. Ron Paul’s wife, in also an infrequent campaigner. Paul’s campaign says she will be on the trail in the near future, and their son, Rep. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has been more visible stumping for his father. (AP)
“He or she has to be circumspect, to avoid controversy as much as possible. But it’s very hard for spouses to watch their significant other go through a hard time, so they sometimes speak out about it.”
Emotional outbursts have bedeviled many candidates’ spouses over the years. In 2008, former president Bill Clinton’s finger-wagging bursts of anger drew plenty of attention
<bWi^XWYa
<Wc_b_Wh <[[b_d] Michelle Obama came under withering criticism in 2008 when she told an audience, “for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.” The outcry led to an emergency image retooling. A CNN poll in September found that the first lady had a 65 percent approval rating despite the woes experienced by her husband. (AP)
when he campaigned for Hillary Rodham Clinton against Barack Obama. “Family members always take these campaigns a little more personally than the candidates do,” Perry told NBC News as he continues to fight through a series of campaign struggles. Rider University’s Gutin went further: “Mrs. Perry needs to realize that if her husband becomes the Republican nominee, this is just the beginning.” BETH FOUHY (AP)

A True Fall Classic Big stars on both sides increase the excitement in this year’s World Series Fhe 8Wi[XWbb Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton in a matchup of MVP sluggers. Nelson Cruz and David Freese becoming bigger names with each home run swing. Pitching staffs full of shaky starters and shutdown relievers. Plus a Rally Squirrel and the Claw.
) J^_d]i je MWjY^ <edZ <Wh[m[bb5 Albert Pujols got a standing ovation before his final regularseason game at home, and he’ll get at least two more doses of love from adoring St. Louis fans in the World Series. The threetime MVP has kept quiet on his impending free agency since cutting off talks on a new deal.
>em j^[o ]ej ^[h[ Ij$ Bek_i The Cardinals, who clinched the NL wild card spot on the last day of the regular season, did what many fans considered almost impossible in the first round — they eliminated the Phillies. Chris Carpenter outdueled Roy Halladay 1-0 in the decisive Game 5, and then St. Louis relied on a healthy dose of Albert Pujols, right, and its bullpen every day to beat Milwaukee in the NLCS. Jason Motte, Fernando Salas, Octavio Dotel, Marc Rzepczynski and the Cards’ crew shut down Prince Fielder and the Brewers, capped by a 12-6 win in Game 6 Sunday. The Cardinals also got help — some might believe — from a squirrel that scampered right in front of home plate during a playoff game in St. Louis. (AP)
Wed. | Fox
The Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals, with a lot of symmetry, are all set to get acquainted in the World Series. Leave it to ol’ Arthur Rhodes to make the introductions. The 41-year-old lefty specialist began the year with Texas, wound up in St. Louis and is likely to get a ring either way. Besides, it takes someone who’s been around a bit to remember the last time these teams played. It was 2004, in a three-game set in Texas. Even in this era of interleague play, that’s the only time the Cardinals and Rangers have met when it meant something. According to STATS LLC, that matches the fewest games between a pair of opponents in the majors, tying Mets-White Sox. Game 1 is Wednesday night in St. Louis, with aces Chris Carpenter of the Cardinals and C.J. Wilson set to start.
J[nWi The Rangers, led by Josh Hamilton, left, powered to the AL West title this year and hope to show the Claw, their hand signal for big hits, a lot starting this week against the Cardinals. Texas began the playoffs by beating Tampa Bay in four games and mashed Detroit in the six-game ALCS. Nelson Cruz was an MVP monster against the Tigers, hitting an LCS-record six home runs with 13 RBI. Closer Neftali Feliz, Alexi Ogando and Scott Feldman keyed a bullpen that dominated the postseason. (AP)
Josh Hamilton led the Rangers to a second-straight World Series.
“The Rangers are scary. They’re a scary team,” said Freese, the NLCS MVP. “You look at that lineup; you look at that staff. It’s going to be a battle.” Consider this an old-school World Series: top names on both sides, many of them facing each other for the first time — the way it was before AL and NL clubs began playing each other all through the summer.
Think of Ted Williams versus Stan Musial, maybe. Musial, in fact, might even be at the ballpark next week. The 90-year Hall of Famer who helped the Cardinals win three World Series crowns was at Busch Stadium during the playoffs for pregame ceremonies. Stan the Man and the Cardinals beat Williams and the Red Sox in the 1946 Series. More than
De Ceh[ Idk\\5 U.S. senators and health officials are taking on a baseball tradition older than the World Series itself: chewing tobacco. With the series set to begin Wednesday between the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers — a team that started life as the Washington Senators 50 years ago — the officials have asked the players union to agree to a ban on chewing tobacco at games and on camera. (AP)
a quarter-century later, Williams became the first manager in Rangers history after the franchise moved from Washington to the Lone Star state. It took a lot longer for Texas to finally reach the Series. Hamilton, Cruz, Michael Young and the Rangers made their first appearance last year, only to get shut down by San Francisco’s pitching in a five-game wipeout. Now, they are out for the title. “We weren’t very happy with the results, and we certainly knew that we were a better team than we showed,” manager Ron Washington said. BEN WALKER (AP)

9hkp 9edjheb Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz did it all in the ALCS, putting on an unprecedented power show and cutting down a runner at the plate with a rocket throw in a crucial situation. He had six homers and 13 RBI — both major league records for a postseason series — and finished 8 for 22 (.364) with two doubles.
Oekd] Wj >[Whj Michael Young, the longest-tenured Rangers player, adapted to his new role this year and had a team-high 159 starts, the ninth time in 10 seasons he played at least 155 games. He started 69 as the DH, 39 at third base, 36 at first, 14 at second and one at shortstop. He became the only player to have at least 200 hits (213) while playing 35 games or more at three different positions. (AP)

United’s Hopes on Life Support Club still has a shot at the playoffs after a gut-wrenching loss
FbWoe\\ Feii_X_b_j_[i With two games left in the season, D.C. still has a chance at returning to the MLS postseason for the first time since 2007. Here are the scenarios for what could unfold.
CW`eh B[W]k[ IeYY[h The shock of Saturday’s collapse against the Chicago Fire has barely had time to subside, but there’s still business at hand and a glimmer of hope for D.C. United.
United is in if it wins against Portland on Wednesday and Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, and if New York loses to Philadelphia on Thursday. (D.C. could also advance with wins and a New York tie but would need to make up a goal differential of 7 on New York.) United is out if it fails to win both games and/or New York beats Philadelphia. A.C.
After yielding two goals in stoppage time after Dwayne De Rosario’s go-ahead, 90th-minute penalty kick, D.C. United had its already slim MLS playoff aspirations take another hit. Even with that, though, the club — mired in a four-game losing streak — can still return to the postseason with wins in its last two games, starting Wednesday against the Portland Timbers. “There’s nothing we can do about Saturday right now, so we just have to put it past us and look

Video footage shows that Daniel Rago slapped Hester in the back of the head with his hand and then walked away. Hester was a “perfect gentleman” in reporting the incident, police said. (AP)
The Oakland Raiders made a bold move to replace injured quarterback Jason Campbell on Tuesday, trading two high draft picks to the Cincinnati Bengals for Carson Palmer. Coach Hue Jackson paid a high price to acquire a quarterback he knows well but who has struggled in recent years and refused to report the Bengals this season despite being under contact through 2014. The Bengals had been adamant about not trading Palmer, who wanted to be dealt from a team that

has had only two winning records in the last 20 years. Owner Mike Brown repeatedly insisted he wouldn’t consider Palmer’s request for a trade because he didn’t want to reward him for holding out. He changed his mind after the Raiders offered a 2012 first-round pick and a second-rounder in 2013 for the 31-yearold quarterback. The Raiders (4-2) became desperate for a quarterback after Campbell broke his collarbone during a win over the Browns on Sunday. (AP)
forward to Wednesday,” midfielder Clyde Simms said. To stay alive in the hunt, United must defeat the Timbers, something it did on the road earlier this season. This game was supposed to be played on Aug. 27, but Hurricane Irene forced the clubs to postpone the match. “At least we still have a shot,” said D.C. assistant coach Chad Ashton. AVI CREDITOR

No Good Choice For Redskins QB Here we go again. If you couldn’t get enough of Rex versus Becks in the preseason, it’s back. I was about to write that the only difference this time around is that it matters who starts under center in the next game. Only, it really doesn’t. Rex Grossman is a turnover machine. He is also capable of making great throws. These facts are not new, though they were 8o CWjj reinforced as the RedIm[died skins scratched their way to a 3-2 record.
M^_Y^[l[h mWo C_a[ I^WdW^Wd b[Wdi m^[d ^[ dWc[i W ijWhj[h ed M[Zd[iZWo" _j medÊj X[ fh[jjo$ John Beck is more mobile and probably less prone than Grossman to make costly mistakes (who isn’t?). The only trouble is that his fourthquarter action last Sunday was the first time he’s been on the field in a regular season game in five years. It didn’t take long for Beck to prove he’s not adept at long passes and that he floats some easier throws as well. Whichever way coach Mike Shanahan leans when he names a starter on Wednesday, it won’t be pretty — especially with such a banged-up offensive line. Shanahan’s ego is such that he banked this season on being able to win with two inferior quarterbacks. It’s a shame because Washington’s improved defense is probably playoff-caliber. The truth is that the Redskins still don’t have a long-term answer at quarterback. And that, sadly, is going to be made clear over the next 11 games. Suburban War The hidden sadness that permeates “Days” is what separates Real Estate from the hordes of limp, cute, insipid, smug bands that pervade indie rock in 2011. The young New Jersey band makes driving music, perfect for coasting through suburban quilts of green and gray — or imaginary drives through your own gray matter. Of the 10 songs that make up the band’s lovely second album,“Days,” none invites more steering-wheel abuse than “It’s Real.” The song’s keen tap-tap-tap-tap sounds like it was composed in the driver’s seat of a ’97 Toyota Corolla.

maybe counterintuitive — don’t we associate cheerleaders or beauty queens with lipstick and blush?), but according to a recent Harvard University study, cosmetics can boost perceptions of women’s competence and trustworthiness. The study examined women in varying degrees of face paint, from minimal to “glamorous.” In every case, 8o AWj^[h_d[ testers thought the 8eob[ subjects were more competent when they ramped up the Revlon and Lancome. At first, I felt ashamed — had I passed Italian class thanks to Covergirl? But looking in the mirror this morning, it dawned on me: “I’m up early for this mascara wand.” If you’re in makeup today, it probably means you didn’t forget to set an alarm because you drank a bottle of Chianti and passed out watching “Glee.” You checked the mirror and made an effort to look good. And if you care about your appearance, you probably care about meeting deadlines and checking spreadsheets. Yes, it’s a sad, unfair world, but (this) knowledge is power, and, according to Harvard, so is lipstick.

But when Martin Courtney confesses that he doesn’t “know who’s behind the wheel,” he’s not singing about his morning carpool. He’s singing about the mystery of emotions and how they can feel more acute when you’re living in the Garden State’s suburban inertia. Real Estate doesn’t share Bruce Springsteen’s zeal or ZIP code, but few contemporary rock albums feel as American as “Days.” This music comes from a place where Exxon station canopies glow like beacons in the boredom. The band reinforces that sense of bittersweet stasis with

cyclical, jangled riffs that resemble R.E.M. walking lazy laps around the track behind the high school. It’s Courtney’s singing that pushes these songs to the deep end. His lyrics clot into Polaroid focus on “Green Aisles” — “The phone lines, the street lights led me to you,” he
sings. “And if you just sit tight, I’ll be there soon.” En route, he soaks up the present and braces for the future: “The houses were humming all through the night/And winter was coming, but that was alright.” That last line isn’t an expression of slacker resignation. It’s a wist-
ful declaration of acceptance. And there’s so much hidden sadness to accept in these breezy tunes. “Younger Than Yesterday” is about as heavy as it gets. “It takes all summer long/Just to write one simple song,” Courtney sings. Then his voice hops up a few notes: “There’s too much to focus on.” Even higher: “Clearly, there is something wrong.” Setting his frustrations in a carefree melody, the verse embodies the album’s muted drama. Just remember to give it time. After one listen, these tunes will seem pleasant enough. After 20, they’ll have dropped you off in a rare and reflective space, miles beyond the Jersey Turnpike. You’ll wonder how you ever got there — and whether you ever want to go back. CHRIS RICHARDS (THE WASHINGTON POST )

emotionally fraught songwriting. But with her new album, “Revelation Road,” she does it all: sings, writes, produces and plays all of the instruments, including drums. The result is a sumptuous, unabashedly Southern song cycle that ranks among the
best records of her career. Subdued but insistent, the lightly juking title track is a cross between country blues and soul, while “Even Angels,” a shuffling meditation on human frailty, ranges more toward the soul end of the
spectrum. With down-home references to the likes of scrambled-egg sandwiches, “I’ll Hold Your Head” extols the virtues of rural working-class pride. “Lead Me Love,” a sultry ballad, is buoyed by a bossa nova-inflected lilt.
Lynne’s lyrics are refreshingly matter-of-fact and never overreach, no doubt because she’s confident that her languorous Cotton State drawl can express whatever else she might want to convey. “A voice through the wind sings through the trees, reminds me of the nights together, you and me,” she pines in “The Thief.” More pointed still is the epic understatement of the autobiographical ballad, “Alabama.” “I been insane since I was nine/Never went to crime/But the fightin’ kind, oh yeah,” she purrs, the mix of pride and defiance in her voice that of a woman who understands herself and her music very well. DVR’s Big Winner ABC’s “Modern Family” is No. 1 in what is becoming an increasingly important measurement for television networks. Through the first two weeks of the season, the comedy (which stars Ed O’Neill, above) gained more viewers when DVR use was added than any other show on TV. Nielsen says 14 million people watched the show live on Wednesday nights, and another 4.5 million recorded “Modern Family” and watched it within a week. Eight other shows — six on CBS — added 3 million viewers or more through DVRs. (AP)

When Brittany Laughlin needed to fly from Chicago to San Francisco last month, she tried something new and headed over to Google Flight Search, the newest and most controversial travel site to launch since Orbitz opened its doors a decade ago. Within a few seconds, Google showed her the perfect flight on American Airlines. She clicked on the link, which took her to the airline’s page to book a ticket. “It was really clear and instantly showed results,” says Laughlin, who runs a social media company in Chicago. Google Flight Search is the result of the search engine giant’s acquisition of ITA Software, a Cambridge, Mass., company whose technology

sets it apart from other sites. The service also offers a few interesting new features, including a screen displaying the least expensive days to fly and a variety of ways to search for flights, such as by price and destination. These aren’t necessarily new to the online travel world, but Google does them in a very user-friendly way. But Google Flight Search offers no international flights, and several carriers — including Virgin America and JetBlue — are unbookable. You can’t buy any multicity or multiairline itineraries, either. Perhaps the biggest omission is that you can’t purchase tickets through an online travel agency such as Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity. Because of that, many critics have written Flight Search off. “Once they’re international and have the functionality of Kayak, I’ll take notice. Until then, I don’t care,” says travel blooger Roni Weiss. CHRISTOPHER ELLIOT T (THE WASHINGTON POST )
I’m going to San Francisco for the first time. I’m thinking about renting a car and getting out of the city. Any recommendations for a scenic drive? And perhaps some things to check out along the way? Is there anything that I shouldn’t miss? Would it be too cliche to say head to wine country? Or you could go south to lovely Palo Alto. There’s also the stunning 17-Mile Drive at Pebble Beach. In San Francisco, eat at the Ferry Building, take a boat ride by the Golden Gate Bridge, and hop on a trolley. Is there an easy way to find a good travel agent? Conde Nast has a handy-dandy travel agent finder at Concierge.com/tools/ travelagentfinder, a list that it carefully vets.
