Supporting Older People The Community Outreach Resource Team (C.O.R.T) aims at to assist older and vulnerable people with home care maintenance within their own homes. C.O.R.T is made up of a small team of workers who are employees of the Tolka Area Partnership that are selected from the Tús programme, these employees are garda vetted, and deemed suitable for the work of C.O.R.T. The Project Officer is the key link between clients/agencies and the allocation of work. The team works with the Project Officer who oversees the work.
C.O.R.T was established in January 2012 with a view to assist:
Older and vulnerable people to continue to live independent lives within their own homes Older peoples community services including day centres with their work programme Community groups to maintain property and grounds
The areas of work would include, but are not limited to:
Property Maintenance Home Readiness –eg (Moving furniture to the downstairs area of older persons homes) Garden maintenance (grass cutting, Hedge trimming, etc.) Hand/Stair rail installation Basic DIY tasks (excluding work that requires the expertise of professional trades people)
This is not a free service; individual clients will be asked to make a small payment/donation. There is also a charge for community groups looking to avail of this service. All costings will be calculated on initial assessment. C.O.R.T is available between the hours of 9am & 3.30pm Monday to Wednesday or by special arrangement outside of these hours. This service is only available to Older people & Community Organisations within the Tolka Area Partnership. The Tús initiative is a community work placement scheme providing short-term working opportunities for unemployed people. (19.5 hours per week at agreed times, dates and locations) The work opportunities are to benefit the community. This project will be over seen by the Tolka area partnership & observed by the HSE.
