• Proper planning and development, serving the current and future needs of the community • Cohesive transport policy, with suitable speed limits, integrated bus and Luas, and proper cycle lanes • Efficient and fair Council housing policies, serving those most in need • The development and promotion of the inner city commercial zone, so that it remains the heart of our city • The active use of empty and under-used buildings to foster entrepreneurship and social and cultural activity • Transparency and grassroots participation as the bedrock of all Council policy and action
Kieran’s Priorities for the South East Inner City
• The dismantling of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, replacing it with an accountable body suitable for our current circumstances • Support for the work of local community centres and community groups, to protect those most affected by national cutbacks • The protection and promotion of the Grand Canal, Sandymount Strand and the Dodder walkway as recreational amenities • The further development of the Dublin Bike scheme into the Docklands, Ringsend, Irishtown and Sandymount, and increased pedestrianisation around Grafton St. • The protection of the Poolbeg Peninsula from unsuitable development, in particular the incinerator • Working with the Council, residents, businesses and landlords in areas such as Portobello and Ringsend to ensure we all enjoy clean streets, shopfronts, yards and gardens

I was recently co-opted to replace Senator Catherine Noone. I would like to pay tribute to Catherine Noone’s work on the Council, and I wish her all the best for her new role in the Seanad. I am honoured to be representing the people of the South East Inner City on the Council, and I look forward to working for you on Dublin City Council. About KIERAN BINCHY
Kieran is a resident of Windmill Lane in the South Docklands. As well as being a Councillor, he works as a Barrister, based in the Four Courts. He has a law degree from Trinity College Dublin. He has also studied in Dublin City University and in Kings’ Inns. He previously worked as a law lecturer in DIT Aungier Street and as a Parliamentary Assistant in Leinster House for Deputy Lucinda Creighton. As a Councillor, Kieran will also be a member of the Housing, Social and Community Affairs Policy Committee, and will sit on the board of directors of the Hugh Lane Gallery and the Temple Bar Cultural Trust.

The challenges currently facing our country cannot be underestimated, and in my role as Minister for European Affairs and as TD for Dublin South East I will be tackling these challenges head-on at European, national and local level with our Fine Gael team.
