Celebration of a seat of learning Lovers of Learning book plots school history > WELLINGBOROUGH SCHOOL ONE of the oldest schools in the county is celebrating the launch of a new book about its history. Wellingborough School has produced a 200-page book with nearly 500 photographs and illustrations, and a foreword written by Earl Spencer. The book, called Lovers of Learning, has been written by Neil Lyon, a former pupil of the school. He said: “Wellingborough School dates back to the 1500s. The title of the book comes from the wording on a stone plaque above the entrance of the old school building in the centre of Wellingborough which says ‘I owe much to the lovers of learning, but to the philistines nothing’.” “The building is now used by All Hallows Church, and the school was based there from the reign of the first Queen Elizabeth until it moved to its current site on London Road in 1881. “We are very proud to be one of the oldest institutions in the county, and the hundreds of pho-

tos which appear in the book are a fantastic way of bringing the past alive. We were delighted that Earl Spencer has agreed to write the foreword, as his grandfather, the seventh earl was the chairman of the school governors for 26 years.” The book covers every aspect of the school’s history, from the tough discipline in Victorian times to the rotten school meals before the last war. It describes how Wellingborough School has produced many county cricketers, including six Northamptonshire captains, a record unbeaten by any other school in the country. There are sections on the famous thatched pavilion, paid for in 1929 out of tuck shop profits, as well as on both world wars, when 276 former pupils and teachers were killed in action. These include the school chaplain Bernard Vann from Rushden, who was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1918. Past pupils of the school include the former King of Malaysia, the current Northampton North MP

Library facelift > WELLINGBOROUGH WELLINGBOROUGH Library is due to re-open on Monday after being closed for two weeks for refurbishment. The work has included a new roof and the installation of energy efficient heating and lighting. The refurbishment, which also included repainting and replacement glazing to some windows, started on June 11 and will be completed in early August. County council cabinet member for customer services Councillor Heather

Smith said: “Wellingborough Library is overdue a facelift, the roof has leaked for some years now and despite minor repairs has continued to be a problem. The work taking place over the summer will ensure the library is not only watertight but is also much warmer for customers in the winter. “I’d like to thank everyone for their patience, the work taking place will really improve the experience for the 4,200 customers who visit the library every week.” For more information about the library service visit www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/libraries

BOUGHTON HOUSE: People with tickets can claim a refund

Vintage Festival is cancelled

Poor ticket sales a damper > BOUGHTON HOUSE POOR ticket sales have been blamed for the cancellation of the Vintage Festival, which was due to take place this weekend at Boughton House near Kettering. The organisers announced at the end of last month that the festival would move to guest at the Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire in August. Those who have bought tickets for the Boughton House event are being offered the chance to exchange their tickets for Wilderness tickets, or claim a refund. A diverse vintage area at Wilderness will offer visitors the chance to experience vintage music, film, art, design and fashion.

The Vintage Festival is the brainchild of designers Wayne and Geraldine Hemingway and their Hemingway Design team. who launched the event in August 2010 on the Sussex Downs. More than 50,000 people visited that year, the majority dressed in vintage style to enjoy music from across the decades. The event moved to Boughton House, for 2012, with bands including The Damned, Sergio Mendes and Swing Out Sister having been booked as well as celebrity guests including Twiggy and Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole. For details of exchanges and refunds, visit Ticketmaster on www.vintagefestival. co.uk or call 08444 999 999.

£10,000 reward to catch to killer CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1

The reward has been offered by his family after a murder charge against a 47-year-old man was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service last month. Detectives hope the reward will help people to come forward who may have information on the killing, the weapon and the offender’s footwear and clothing. Rita Groves, Mr Varga’s daughter, said: “Our father was a kind man, who was no threat to anybody and we cannot understand why anybody would want to attack him in this way. We have put forward this reward in the hope it will encourage anybody who has any information to come forward.” Detective Chief Inspector Martin Kinchin said: “It is likely that Charlie Varga was killed on Wednesday 27 July 2011, sometime after CCTV footage shows him letting a person into his house.

“We can see from the footage that there were a number of people passing at that time who may have seen that visitor - I want to speak to those people. “We also know that Charlie’s killer left via his back gate into Bell Street and Bell Court. That person had with them a small, potentially axe-like weapon and would have potentially been lightly blood stained. “That murder weapon has never been recovered and potentially is still lying wherever it was hidden. I can also now reveal that the offender was wearing Lonsdale training shoes at the time. These shoes would have been bloodstained and so again would have been disposed of or hidden in somewhere in Wellingborough. Anybody with any information can contact Northamptonshire Police on 101, or call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.

> IRCHESTER OUR rather washed out summer won’t affect the county council’s planned outdoor theatre performances, including one at Irchester Country Park later this month. Heartbreak Productions will bring the children’s classic, The Railway Children, to the park on Tuesday, July 24 and Northamptonshire County Council has said the open-air show will go on, despite the poor weather so far. Cabinet member for customer services Councillor Heather Smith said: “Please don’t let the unsettled weather get in the way of enjoying these unique performances in the beautiful surroundings of the country parks. Whatever the weather the plays will go ahead as long as it’s safe for the actors to perform.” Visitors will be able to bring a blanket to sit on and a picnic to enjoy as they revel in the heart-warming story of Edwardian children Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis who are mysteriously separated from their father, and move to Three Chimneys in Yorkshire. As endless days stretch before them, the family set about establishing themselves and making friends in the village. The all-important railway runs like a life vein through the community and its importance grows –learning from the

Sign language a hit

Courses for carers > WELLINGBOROUGH

> WELLINGBOROUGH A TRAINEE teacher has added extra strings to her bow, after learning sign language with free training from her landlord. Michelle McCourtie, who is a tenant of Wellingborough Homes, took up the training because her son Sanchez suffers with some hearing impairment, as a result of glue ear, a common childhood condition. Tutor Jill Parker led the British Sign Language course for around 10 students, who were each taught some basics and then able to test out their skills with those more fluent in signing. The course was originally due to last for five weeks, with support from Neighbourhood Learning. But the students were so enthusiastic that it eventually ran for 15 weeks, thanks to extra support from Workers Education Association. Sign language is just one of the free training courses on offer from Wellingborough Homes at its Tenant Resource Centre, next to Morrisons, including IT training and digital photography. Michelle said: “Sanchez is able to hear but I wanted to learn sign language so that we are prepared in the event that he ever loses his hearing completely. “Whatever I learnt on the course I came straight back and taught the kids. They were so excited to pick up the signs and we can now communicate with each other using the skills I have developed. The course covered words and phrases you would use in the home and at school, so it was ideal. “I thoroughly enjoyed it. Signing really is like learning a new language. We tested our skills by meeting with some deaf and hard of hearing people at the Trading Post in Kettering. We quite quickly learnt the sign for ‘slow down’ as we had to ask them to repeat what they were doing while we caught up.”

GOOD SIGN: Michelle McCourtie learned sign language to help her own son and, in future, her students Michelle is now hoping to develop her skills further. She is currently training to become a teacher and hopes her sign language might be helpful in the classroom. She said: “If there are any deaf or hard of hearing children in my classes, I know that I will be able to help them learn using the skills I have learnt.” Irene Carter, customer outreach services manager at Wellingborough Homes, said: “Sign language has been hugely popular with local residents, and we are really pleased to be able to respond to local demand by providing free training. “Training can help you learn new skills, which are essential in a competitive job environment like the one we have today. It’s a great way of meeting new people, and building confidence too – which can be just as important when you’re looking at a career change.” Wellingborough Homes is running further British Sign Language course in September. UNPAID carers are being offered a range of courses through a needs and aspirations project run by the county council and Nene Valley Community Action. A new directory of courses, which include basic computers, photo editing using Picasa, tracing your family history and tai chi has been released. The directory includes a number of new options such

as nature walks, a chocolate tasting party, a tour of Waitrose, photo walks and watercolour painting. The “needs and aspirations project” is a directory of free activities and opportunities available to unpaid carers and includes those receiving attendance allowance. This is a project commissioned by Northamptonshire County council and delivered by Nene Valley Community Action. Everyone involved in

the project recognises the vital contribution made by carers. It is because of the commitment that the statutory and voluntary sector organisations have got together to provide carers with access to these opportunities. A milestone of real note New bank note to celebrate 200 years > THRAPSTON YOUNGSTERS from Thrapston Primary School were given the task of designing their own bank note to help a High Street bank celebrate 200 years of doing business in the heart of the town. Barclays began life in Thrapston as a new country bank established by Stephen Eaton and his

partner George Eland. It has provided local banking services on the same site for at least two centuries. For many years it was a branch of the Stamford, Spalding and Boston Banking Company and it became part of Barclays in 1911. Grandfather sings praises of clinic

Since the announcement was mThe clinic has been recognised as an area of national good practice following a National Peer Review. The review found that the KGH’s clinic concept should be recommended as an example of national good practice in how to look after patients at the time when they are first told they have cancer. Mr Mack, 69, said: “I was very im-

You speak to both the consultant and the nurse specialists and they are both very supportive. “Together they give you the full picture of what is happening and what your tests mean to you and what will happen next in terms of treatment. Mr Mack, a former metallurgist and physics teacher, added: “Also if you have any practical problems the nurses are very good at sorting it out for you and they are always there for you.” Great-grandfather Eddie Cross, 67, from Wellingborough, visited the clinic at the end of last year when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Organising your Special Day

LIGHT FANTASTIC: Beams of laser light created a giant triangle between local water towers.

Go with the flow and vote for county project Voting is now open for Lottery arts project > COUNTY GIVEN this summer’s weather, it seems only fitting that county residents are being asked to vote for artwork that has the theme of the journey of water. People are being urged to vote for Northamptonshire arts project FLOW that has won a place in the semi-finals of The National Lottery Awards 2012. FLOW was a year-long visual arts programme which engaged 90,000 people through a series of artworks by leading British artists to explore and respond to the journey of water through Northamptonshire’s rivers, canals, water towers and reservoirs, and part of the regional Igniting Ambition Festival and London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. FLOW is one of only 10 projects to make it through in the Best Art Project category in

the annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects. The winning project in each of the categories will receive national recognition at the starstudded event and £2,000 to spend on their project. The programme included 180° of Light – Rothwell, Desborough and Corby (Beanfield) Water Towers were illuminated via laser beams to create a giant five square mile triangle visible in the night sky; Sywell Echo –Sywell Country Park’s Edwardian reservoir was set alight with over 100 LEDS tracing the original valley streams and Parish border; Interchange – a fortnight of artistic activity which saw three artists based on a narrowboat travel from Cosgrove to Wadenhoe and back, with a unique performance in Blisworth Tunnel and Hero – a laser-light installation

aligned with the canalised River Ise in the historic grounds of Boughton House, home of the Duke of Buccleuch. Cabinet member for customer and community services Councillor Heather Smith said: “I am delighted that the FLOW programme has been shortlisted in these prestigious awards. Despite being a landlocked county, Northamptonshire’s waterways are a significant part of the county’s landscape and FLOW has been a fantastic way of highlighting these important locations. Voting for the semi-finals ends at midday on Sunday July 22. To vote for FLOW call 0844 836 9675 or log on to www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/ awards. The three projects in each category with the highest number of votes will go through to the final round of public voting later this summer.

ORGANISING a family wedding is the nearest most of us get to conducting a military operation. It has been said in fact, that the Dunkirk evasion was a mere exercise when compared with the sheer logistics of conducting the happy couple through a tortuous day, to emerge at the other end, married, happy and sane. This without losing a guest, offending various members of the family, confusing the gifts, muddling the honeymoon or shooting the photographer! If you have attended a wedding that proceeded smoothly without a hitch, except the one intended that is, you can be sure of one thing, that months of careful planning and organisation preceded the event. The smoother the proceedings in fact, the more sheer hard work you can guarantee went into ensuring this smoothness. As soon as the two of you have decided to get married you must get right down and organise a timetable of action. Make several copies because if one thing is going to get lost, this is it. If you know your family will want you to have the traditional type of family wedding then be prepared to name the day at least six months ahead. Get together with your fiancé and parents, both sides, and decide right away just how formal or informal the even should be, where the ceremony is to take place and most important of all, how much you are going to spend on it. It is so important to set this budget and having set it, to stick rigidly to it, tailoring everything to come within its confines. If you don’t, there is a danger that costs will run away with you and you could start married life with a whacking great debt, as well as a mortgage. The bride and her family have the lion’s share of the arrangements, so here is a list that may help.

11

• Visit and make arrangements with the Minister of religion or Registrar who will be conducting the ceremony, and set the date. If a licensed wedding venue is chosen, then the set date will also have to be booked with the Registrar. • Plan the reception and if it is not to be at home, book the venue and caterers, well in advance. • Draw up a list of wedding invitations having consulted with your fiancé’s family and having regard to the budget you will have decided upon. • Shop for a wedding dress and those of the attendants. If the wedding is to be a formal one with morning suits for the gentlemen, be sure to book those that are to be hired as soon as possible. If they are to be tailor-made, then a visit to the tailor is also recommended as soon as possible. • Book the photographer • Book the transport • See the florist. • Discuss the honeymoon and get it booked up • Plan your future home and its furnishings THREE- TO FIVE MONTHS BEFORE: • Finalise travel plans and double check on the honeymoon booking. • Start shopping for the trousseau having an eye to your budget. • Order the wedding stationery, invitations, and printed order of service. • Order any special stationery such as place cards and serviettes for the reception. • Compile the gift list and give it to the bride’s mother to circulate. • Help your mothers choose their outfits. • Discuss music and other details of the service with the officiator. TWO MONTHS BEFORE • Post wedding invitations. • Plan the recording of wedding gifts and write ‘thank you’ notes. • Record acceptances and refusals to invitations as they arrive. • Check on the progress of any wedding clothes that have been ordered. • Decide on gifts for the attendants. • Arrange for the wedding cake and discuss the finer details of the reception with the caterers. • Buy the wedding ring(s) if you have not already done so. • Go with your fiancé to get the wedding licence. ONE MONTH BEFORE • See your hairdresser and plan your style. • Arrange seating plan for the reception. • Try to inform the caterers of the final guest numbers. • Finalise the trousseau. • See to the legal niceties, changing name on bank and savings accounts, credit cards, etc. Inform the Tax Office and other relevant officials. • Check to see that the prospective groom has made all his arrangements. ONE WEEK BEFORE • Make final checks on catering, cake, transport, photography, flowers, etc. • Collect your wedding dress if you have not already done so. • Have a wedding rehearsal if necessary. • Make sure you have all you need for the honeymoon. • Take your bridesmaids out to lunch or organise a hen night. • Have your hair done. • Practise your make up. • Arrange for your hair to be dressed on the wedding day. • Slow down and try to relax, and have a happy, happy day!

The Third Man New - a witness in Leanne case comes forward imagine if this was your daughter... “The officer was laughing and asking me if I really wanted to make a statement, as I would be the only one. Apparently, my original statements had gone missing” A WITNESS to the alleged grooming and abuse in the Leanne Mape case has come forward. Natalie Holroyd, a 32 year old mother of five, has decided to speak publicly for the first time in support of her cousin. “Leanne confided in me what was happening to her in early 1997. She was 12 at the time,” said Natalie. “Some of the men were Asian and others white. One of the men who was having sex with her at the time was in his 30s.” Natalie said that she told Leanne’s father about the abuse, but he dismissed the idea as his daughter “seeking attention.” “I was shocked at the way he just dismissed the matter,” said Natalie. “You would expect a father to be upset and want to find out what was going on. He just didn’t care.” Surprised that Leanne’s father was so dismissive, Natalie contacted the police. “Back in 1997-it was between January and March of that year when I was living for a short time in Kettering-I made several statements to the police after Leanne came to visit me and started to confide what was happening to her. Because she was a child she had no idea what was happening and the mistreatment she was being subjected to. “I also told Social Services, as Leanne was on the at-risk list. She was a very vulnerable, mixed-up kid who was in the middle of two parents who were at war with each other. She was a little girl and because she was so young did not have the comprehension to understand how she was being manipulated by much older men who certainly knew they were taking advantage of a young child.” Natalie said that in her statements to the police she named several Asian and white men. “I was extremely worried for her safety. I was shocked at the way she was being treated sexually and some of the sexual acts she was being subjected to,” she added. “Not only have the police a lot to answer for, but so have Corby Social Services staff at the time.” Natalie told the Extra in some detail of the sexual acts her cousin was forced to perform; too graphic to detail. “She was only 12 or 13, for God’s sake. These men were sick and perverted.” Natalie, who works for a home insurance company and

now lives near Manchester, said that she was recently contacted again by a police officer from the Northants force. “That was eight or nine weeks ago,” she said. “The officer was laughing and asking me if I really wanted to make a statement, as I would be the only one. Apparently, my original statements had gone missing. “I told him I would willingly make a new statement. I suggested to him that he ask Greater Manchester police to send an officer to take the statement from me to save him having to come all the way up North. He said he would explore that possibility. “However, I haven’t heard anything since. I suspect that no approach has been made to GMP by the Northants officer. From the officer’s attitude on the phone I didn’t think he was taking the matter seriously and that he was going through the motions and had no intention of investigating further. “The feeling I got was that the whole case was considered historical and that, in the present economic climate and police budget cutbacks, it was going to cost too much money to look into and so the police just want it to go away.”

Third Man’s Comment Whether Louise Mensch’s admission on Question Time will impact on her so-far promising political career - in the same way that Class A drugs apparently affected her health - only time will tell. One wonders whether she would have readily admitted her youthful, illegal activities if she had not been forced out into the open with a blackmail attempt some months ago. Now, forced to come clean, she appears to be trying to turn her drug-taking experiences to political advantage, jumping on the bandwagon against drug legalisation. Class A drugs are dangerous - like many things in life -and highlighting those dangers must be applauded, but is the MP really concerned about the effects on youngsters who indulge in such banned substances as heroin, cocaine or ecstasy, or is she more concerned about the damage the revelation has on her political future.

How about a centre half and a full english every morning? FANCY a strapping, fit and talented footballer adorning your home - no not a signed photograph on the wall, but one who will grace your dining table. Kettering Town’s new manager, John Beck, is appealing to fans to help him assemble a new team at Nene Park for the coming season and is asking fans to provide digs for up to a week for potential squad members. Coming out of administration after accumulating debts of £1.2 million the club is having to operate on a shoe string budget. So, in an effort, to find good quality players the manager has been forced to bring in a large number of trialists from all over the country and he needs somewhere for them to stay while John and his backroom staff assess them. So far the club has signed seven players on contract, but John is looking to have another 13 or 14 quality players join the club, which this season will start in the Blue Square

Southern League with a ten point deficit. “After the recent financial problems the club is basically starting from scratch. Funds are very limited, so we have to recruit the best players we can from some distance away. The problem we have is that there are not enough quality players locally. “That is why I am appealing to Kettering Town supporters to provide a player we want to assess fully with bed and breakfast for between two and seven days for free. If we decide to offer the player a contract at the end of that period, and the supporter is happy with the player and the arrangement, the player will pay full board for his digs,” said 57 year old John, who played over 500 league games for QPR, Coventry Fulham and Bournemouth before turning to managing clubs like Cambridge United and Preston North End. So far the club has passed an eye over 120 potential players during the first one day

trial. Out of that number seven were asked to stay for further assessment of which two were offered contracts. “We will be holding three or four more all day trials, each with over 100 players. Hopefully at the end of those trials we will have a good enough squad to have a real impact next season. “The hope is that at the end of each of the days we will have selected up to ten players we want to further examine for up to a week. It is these players we need to find a supporter kind enough to provide bed, breakfast and an evening meal. Nothing fancy is required in the way of diet, just a warm, homely atmosphere where they can feel welcome and relax,” said John. Any supporter interested should contact the club on 01933 652000. If you have any issues that you feel need to be ‘aired’ you can email The Third Man on: thethirdman@extranewspapers.co.uk

Linkin Park pretty much cornered the nu-metal market with their massiveselling and breakthrough ‘Hybrid Theory’ album in 2002. They have continued to tinker. Giant choruses are still intact, though.

The Walkmen have been around since T Rex (the dinosaur). It now looks like they’re going to make the mainstream crossover that The Black Keys are enjoying. Dues well and truly paid.

Chris Brown remains infamous over his relationship with Rihanna, which left her literally battered and bruised. More recently, he traded blows with contemporary Drake. No more, no less.

Abba were the Human League’s template. They were, indeed, Abba with synthesizers. From Sheffield. ‘Dare’ still sounds imperious like it was made in some pop factory.

The hugely charismatic Usher Raymond is probably a big fan of pick’n’mix. Here he is on ‘Looking 4 Myself ’ nibbling at every prevalent commercial pop genre: Eurotrash trance. It works.

Hot Chip’s ‘Over And Over’ track from 2007 is their albatross. Nothing since has come close to its precision-tooled for the dancefloor eureka moment. ‘In Our Heads’ is another struggling for direction.

Spawned from the title of a Nick Cave song, O’ Children are suitably dark. This is their second album and it’s not the goth-fest you’d expect. There’s the stirrings of a pop sensibility lurking here.

The Billy Corganfronted Smashing Pumpkins were heavy-duty purveyors of doom in the 90s. ‘Oceania’ is part of a sprawling new 44-song project entitled Teargarden By Kaleidyscope. Disappointing.

Bruce Springsteen/ Stadium of Light/ Sunderland Live

Bruce Springsteen/Stadium Of Light (Sunderland) On his stadium-built Wrecking Ball Tour Bruce Springsteen nearly clipped four hours on stage, supported by his 16-member E-Street Band. Despite a personal fortune estimated to be in excess of £100m, he still champions the underdog. The colour of his collar remains blue, even if tickets for the concert were £55. Rain didn’t dampen the occasion. At one stage Springsteen almost willed the elements to do their

worst, saying: ‘Give me some more of this English rain – this is how I like it’. This was his first tour without the band’s iconic sax player, Clarence Clemons. ‘City Of Ruins’ was movingly dedicated to him. An epic show, which briefly transported New Jersey to Sunderland and almost caused hysteria with triple salvo of ‘The River’, ‘Hungry Heart’ and ‘Born To Run’. He’s still ‘The Boss’.

Lana Del Rey Lana Del Rey has been catapulted to stardom thanks to a rags-to-riches back-story, a judicious name change (she was formerly Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Grant) and her remodeling as an alt-princess. We are talking total reinvention here, including those bee-stung lips. Her song ‘Video Games’ was one of those stop-youin-your-tracks songs and her debut album ‘Ready To Die’ has shifted more than 500,000 copies in the UK. ‘Video Games’ is its lynchpin. The track became a runaway YouTube sensation (20m views) with its savvy editing of old movies, skateboarders and footage of American actress Paz de la Huera falling over after one too many. It conjured up a weird kind of glamour and immediately bestowed

that glamour on Del Rey, who directed the video. On reflection she said: ‘Had I known so many people were going to watch the video, I’d have put some more effort into it. I would have got my hair and make-up done and tried not to be so pouty…’ The album isn’t quite as momentous, but throw in the carefully calculated 30s Hollywood icon spirit she’s channeling and that voice and it’s easy to dissect why ‘Born To Die’ is a global hit. Does it matter that she is the daughter of an internet entrepreneur, doesn’t hail from a trailer park and has a whole team of A-list co-writers? Not when the songs are this good. Lana Del Rey’s new single ‘National Anthem’ is out now.

TEED: Debut album ‘Lifestyle’ out now

Gossip: ‘A Joyful Noise’ is out now

CONOR MAYNARD Once upon a time the name Justin Bieber seemed an unlikely one for a global pop act. It may just be that we have a homegrown response in Conor Maynard. Nineteen-year old, Brighton-born was uploading videos of himself singing his favourite songs and getting positive comments from fans of the originals little more than a year ago. With a variety of stars tweeting about him and Ne-Yo phoning his house and offering to produce him, Parlophone struck a deal to bring him to the world stage. TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS And the outright winner for the best band name in the world right now goes to…. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs! Band isn’t quite right. TEED (for short) is electro producer Orlando Higginbottom. Even though he’s been saddled with that first name and that surname the TEED man is making a big noise, all evidenced on his debut album ‘Trouble’ from his penchant for wearing American Indian headgear to producing music that dips its toes into a whole range of genres. GOSSIP Gossip’s Beth Ditto is one of pop’s most remarkable frontwomen. Comfortably plus-plus-sized, her significance as a symbol of women’s liberation sometimes clouds her significance as a performer/ songwriter. Blending soul, gospel, rock, funk, disco, punk, passion and rebellion, Gossip originally formed in Washington in 1999, first garnering attention with the release of their 2006 breakthrough single and album ‘Standing In the Way of Control’. Their latest album ‘A Joyful Noise’ stays true to Gossip’s trademark.

Welcome to my first Wellbeing column! As a Northamptonshire girl, Corby girl born and bred, I am delighted to be sharing hints and tips with you in your Extra. So put your feet up, grab a cuppa and let’s talk about keeping yourself calm and relaxed over the summer (even if it is raining outside!). FOR MANY, the summer holidays are a time for excitement as they fly away for a well-deserved break. However, for others, it can be a time of stress and anxiety with many wishing the holidays would quickly end so they can get back to work! One of the most common pitfalls that people make over the summer period is to set unrealistic expectations both for themselves and other people. Let’s get honest here, if you expect perfection you are going to end up disappointed! Accept that things may go wrong, the kids may have a meltdown and your holiday location may not be as perfect as you imagined. Don’t let this stop you having a fabulous time anyway! Instead of dwelling on what’s gone wrong, try to focus on what is going right. Remember, a delayed flight or rainy day can only spoil your holiday if you let it. If you do find yourself getting frustrated or upset, don’t forget to breathe. Just stop for a few minutes, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. You can even try affirming to yourself ‘I feel calm, confident and relaxed’ Don’t feel you have to keep the kids entertained from dawn til dusk. Seriously, it is perfectly OK to let your children feel bored sometimes and let them fit it in around your needs. If you put pressure on yourself to plan something exciting every day to keep the kids amused this will only cause you unnecessary

stress and anxiety. Remember, the more calm and chilled you are, the more relaxed your kids will be. Even if it’s cold and rainy, rug up and get yourself out the house and enjoy the fresh air. Just a 20 minute walk can change your mood and get you feeling positive again. If the kids are driving you insane, take them outside for a walk as well (or even better, drop them off at a family members and enjoy some precious time to yourself). When (or if!) the sun does finally decide to come out, grab yourself a fix of Vitamin D. Experts say we probably need between 5 to 30 minutes of exposure to the skin on our face and body twice every week to make enough vitamin D to stay healthy. Don’t forget your suns cream though please! Finally, please remember that holidays are meant to be fun! This may sound obvious but you will be surprised how many of us forget this. We often spend time worrying about work, feeling guilty or stressing out about things that we cannot change. Make sure you relish your break and have a well-deserved lie in, start a good book or get a massage to get you in the holiday mood. Let go of guilt and treat yourself. After all, if you can’t pamper and indulge yourself while on a holiday then when can you? Lisa

EXTRA Time - Showbiz and Entertainment Fun from Heart 96.6 in Northamptonshire.

Hello again, well what a few weeks it’s been across Northamptonshire with the Olympic Torch passing through. We’ve got amazing pictures online at heart.co.uk so do have a look. We chatted to some of the torchbearers, all of whom were so humble about the amazing things they do to help others. One of our favourites was Harry Barrett who at 23 has such an inspiring attitude whilst suffering from cancer. Harry came in to see us the day after he ran with the torch, to tell us how it felt, he described how ‘overwhelmingly amazing’ it all was, and that he had to be reminded of a lot of the people he said Hello to as he couldn’t remember having pictures taken with them. Whilst we’re all getting in the Olympic spirit, Stacey Solomon was on the show, talking about the Sky Ride, she’d just had new hair extensions put in but assured us they would be well tied back so as to not hinder the cycling! When asked who she’d like in ‘a bicycle made for two’ out of Shaun Ryder, Linford Christie or her fiancé you can imagine who she picked! She also told us about her son Zachery coming off his stabilizers although if she’d had it her way, she’d like him to keep them on until he was 12. You can hear that online too.

EXTRA BUFFING UP FOR SUMMER

2012 11JULY, JULY, 2012

The Golden Ticket

The new leg tanning products come of age - no biscuit smell AS WE EDGE closer and closer to the peak summer months, we feel more uneasy about how our legs are still unprepared for their grand unveiling. Once these times were dreaded, we would throw off our woolly tights, brave the white sheen of our skin and hope the sun would do its magic in half the time. But now with tanning products, having finally lost their biscuit smell and streaky results, we can be bronze goddesses even before the vitamin D rich beams burst through the smog. One of the simplest products to achieve the "I live in Cali" look is a self tanning mousse. St Moritz is easily applied, it's coloured so you can see where you have put it, and dries very quickly so that the shower and dress routine is as fast as can be. The colour is great and can be reapplied for those who prefer a darker tone. Make up can be the best quick fix for a pasty complexion and applying it correctly can even "sculpt" your body. When you have finished applying your tan put on your best push up bra and following the "m" shape in creates brush on Estee Lauders shimmer bronzer. This will illusion will contour the area leaving you looking perky and toned. Don't forget to dust over your cheekbones and nose too.

But when you are out on your summer frolics remember that our trusted make up favourites can dry your skin out. But this doesn''t mean that a holiday demands a whole new make up bag either. Remember that with glowing and healthy skin most of the hard work is done already. To take your poolside look to the bar and clubs try slicking on Laveras bronzing lip balm to sooth dry skin and add a shimmer to your pout. Estee Lauders eye shadow palette takes all the hard work out of which colours to choose to compliment your sun kissed skin, with light golds to highlight, bronzes to smoulder and a bright turquoise to mirror your exotic surroundings. These shades work well applied by smudging on with your finger during the day to create a beachy look but can be applied wet for a more intense and striking look perfect for the night. After stepping out of the sun, now aglow and suitable sun kissed, don’t waste your efforts. Prolong your tan by using a good after sun to hydrate the skin, relieve irritation and protect from harmful UV rays. Pevonia soothing gel is made with green tea extract, chamomile and white water lily to offer a soothing and calming respite from the days lounging.

How to get £135 worth of amazing spa treatments for just £56! Treat yourself to our wonderful summer spa package, and feel fabulous. We use pure Fiji a world wide spa brand made in Fiji using pure natural ingredients and recipes used by the islanders for centuries. Here's what you get • A relaxing coconut oil back massage worth £20 • A white gingerlily sugar exfoliation to back worth £15 • A coconut oil lower leg massage worth £15 • A white gingerlily sugar exfoliation to lower legs worth £10 • A hand and arm massage worth £15 • A revital-eyes treatment worth £12 • A wonderful aromatic and deeply hydrating white gingerlily facial treatment worth £48 After this treatment your skin will feel fantastic and fragrant with exotic coconut and white flowers. EXTRA PEOPLE

NEWS: 01536 384616

11 JULY, 2012

"We’ve got four little ones who take up a lot of our time. It means my hobbies are making Lego models and watching cartoons.

Rob and Sarah Hart Luke Manning talks to Rob and Sarah Hart talk about the journey to owning their own brewery and how they continue to support other local retailers and pubs. Rob and Sarah Hart brew traditional English beers in their small, family run business. What did you want to be when you grew up? [Rob]: When I was ten years old there was a series on television about trainer fighter pilots. I thought that looked a lot of fun but by the time I was sixteen, and 6’ 2’’ tall, I was told by the RAF that I would be excellent for the ground crew but too big for a plane. [Sarah]: He’s too big for my small car... How did you get into brewing? [Rob}: When I was in college in Sunderland, myself and a few housemates thought there must be a cheaper way of drinking beer. So we went into homebrew and the first few batches were undrinkable. I carried on doing it and ten years ago I stepped it up; I started getting more and more kit. [Sarah]: Everything suddenly became a container for beer. One day I bought a cool box for a picnic and you could see the delight in his eyes. Next thing I knew he had swiped it and put a hole and copper pipe in the bottom of it. [Rob]: Sarah and I have been in the duty industry all of our life, although mainly dealing with wine. We decided that the wine industry is getting pretty dull with supermarket deals squeezing the business, so we followed our passion and started brewing real ales professionally a year ago. Do you remember your first beer? [Rob]: I grew up in Romford, Essex and when I first started drinking I had John Bull Bitter

from the Romford brewery. A few years later I walked into a pub and it had Ind Coope Burton Ale on the pump. A man had just ordered a pint and was sat there admiring it like a work of art, so I ordered one as well and it was the most delicious drink I had ever had. It was real ale all the way for me after that and the grim days of keg bitter were behind me. What’s your favourite place in the world? [Sarah]: Italy. Such a wonderful country and I would live there in a moment. [Rob]: There’s a burgeoning cask industry there, so you never know... What are your hobbies? [Rob]: We’ve got four little ones who take up a lot of our time. It means my hobbies are making Lego models and watching cartoons. If you were invincible for a day, what would you do? [Sarah]: I’d swim around a volcano to see how it worked. What things are best done after a pint or two of Hart’s beer? [Rob]: A vicar in the east end of London in World War II said “beer is the perfect accompaniment to simple friendliness” and that sums it up for us. Our beers are there to accompany, not dominate, conversation. It’s about sitting down, having a giggle and talking about the topics of the day. Tell us about the day you proposed. [Sarah]: We can’t agree on what happened! I tell you for sure that it was in an Italian restaurant in Greenwich. [Rob]: And I know it was definitely the follow-

ing morning. We discussed the possibility of getting married the night before and Sarah made me pay the bill... The following morning was when the proposal happened. Have any famous people sipped on a Hart No.1? [Rob]: Only myself. Although there is a famous Hart No.1 and he’s a goalkeeper. That would be a great link up. What foods go best with a pint of Hart’s? [Sarah]: We want to promote cheese and beer as a combination. A pint of our beer, some Lincolnshire Poacher cheese, a loaf of nice crusty bread and a chatter. Perfect. How did you end up in the historic building at Nene Court? [Sarah]: We wanted to go into business in Wellingborough and were passing Nene Court. We went in for a look and we came around the corner at the same time as the landlord. It seemed like fate. Rob looked at an area that hadn’t been used for a while and said “that would make a fantastic microbrewery”. The building is stunning and the landlord is brilliant. [Rob]: It was built in 1833 and the site was originally developed to bring gas street lamps to Wellingborough. This is the oldest building on the site and it’s terrific to see it scrubbed down and brought back to life. If you were a beer brand what would you be. [Rob]: Timothy Taylor Landlord [Sarah]: Adnams Broadside. [Rob]: It’s great to see traditional beers, and also new smaller breweries, continue to innovate and not just solely want to get into super-

markets. They support local retailers and pubs. What’s been your best practical joke? [Rob]: My favourite is an ongoing one on a good friend of mine. He smokes Benson and Hedges Silver, with the novel slide pack. When we were younger we used to take the inside part of the pack out and turn it around, so when he opened the pack his cigarettes would fall out. His treat was to have a fag in the bath at the end of the day, and he opened them up one day and they all fell in the water. He put them all on the radiator to dry them out! We’re still doing it to him now and I don’t see an end to this one... Can Hart contribute to the local way of life? [Sarah]: When you’re drinking local ale in a local pub, you are keeping money in the local economy. [Rob]: Wellingborough has a population of 76,000 and 65% are of working or pensionable age. If each of those people took £5 out of their weekly supermarket spend, and spent it in a local business, it would mean £12.8m going into the local economy every year. [Sarah]: We’re proud to be part of the community and we want to help boost the local economy as well. Describe your beer in five words. [Rob]: Wellingborough’s own bright, tawny beer. To hear people talking about “getting our own beer again” is why we do this. People talk it about like it’s their beer and it’s fantastic that they feel like they can play a part in its development.

EXTRA ALE & SCRATCHINGS And so this sumptuous summer of athleticism continues and once again we have had the opportunity of enjoying the heady, patriotic delights of watching a home-grown sporting talent.

Tennis the Menace In tennis terms we speak, of course, of the British (when winning) number one seed Andy Murray - a man with all the charm and panache of a can of Special Brew, alongside a hairdo and stubbled jaw that perhaps suggests over indulgence of the same elixir. We have also has the pleasure of seeing the British ladies fight for the illustrious ‘first person out of the tournament’ award. It’s funny, women’s tennis has the same effect on men that Wimbledon generally does on Andy Murray - if you’re lucky you might just reach a semi. Pardon us for such naughty talk, it must be the youthful exuberance of summer muddling our heated brains. Trying to get tickets for Wimbledon is a bit like trying to get guest list for Elvis’ birthday party held on the moon. So we craftily modified the lounge to create the gritty realism of the live event. The surround sound was strategically adapted to such good effect that after an evening of television grunting, combined

with our own guttural calls of ‘get in!’ and ‘c’mon!’, the neighbours were no doubt sure to think that it’s not just the rackets that could be swinging this summer. Gosh, we really must swap the ale for a glass of ginger beer to cool us down. There we go again. Our lack of tickets was probably a good thing, given our habit of crooning Bob Marley songs every time the scores hit ‘one love’. It would have upset all but the most casual of tennis aficionados. So as we sat there singing Bob Marley for the eight time of the day, with the wives kindly bringing us some strawberries and cream (and for added realism charging us £9 each for the privilege), we couldn’t help

thinking that maybe tennis is due a slight make-over. Not a total facelift we should hasn’t to add, more just a little rouge and sparkle if we may... Firstly we do think the formality of tennis whites a little arcane and the stiff virginal cotton looks clean and crisp, but perhaps a little boring. May we suggest that women’s tennis is now a showcase for the latest fashions from Paris, Milan and London, with all major tournaments linked to fashion events. Wimbledon, for example, could become the Wimbledon Fashion Tennis Week, sponsored by Burberry. For the men well we’ll simply afford them

free rein on their attire. This would allow more personal expression. Picture Nalbandian in his Sex Pistols T-shirt and short sleeved biker jacket, and Andy Murray is his best Rab C-style string vest and kilt. It’s fair to say tennis is a rather lonely sport, just two combatants squaring up as lone warriors. So may we suggest tennis looks for parables in the noble art of boxing for some inspiration. Players should be entering the arena to a glitzy show of strength with edgy rock ballads or sinister hip hop beats being piped out over centre court. There also needs to be more hype whipped up by the players themselves. We’d like to see racket weigh-ins that erupt into near all-out brawls, culminating with a bottle of Robinson’s orange squash thrown in anger. Even the playing environment is a trifle stuffy and outdated. So why not change the scenery altogether. Wouldn’t tennis be a richer game if its courts were in more exciting places? Roland Garros could make way for the newly constructed court atop the Eiffel Tower. The US Open could be played in the Grand Canyon, or on a court carefully cantilevered to float above it, and if the playing area abruptly ended at the white lines there would be no doubt as to whether a ball was in or not. Imagine the Australian Open on Ayers Rock (pardon us, Uluru of course). Wimbledon itself need only be shifted across to the common and then played in an Eden Project-style dome, with weather conditions set to ‘random’. Rain, snow, sleet, heatwave, hurricane and flood could all be possible in a set. A little like one of our summers. Ah it’s great to be British. And this has been a sporting summer we will never forget.

Tanvic Tyres and Tyresafe are combatting the rise in convictions over defective tyres with free safety checks. Free tyre safety checks are on offer by visiting Tanvic Tyres (www. tanvictvre.co.uk) at 12 St James Road , Corby (01536 407582), where drivers will receive a thorough visual tyre inspection to ensure that they are not only safe to use, but legal as well. Court convictions for driving on defective tyres are at a four year high according to figures obtained byTyresafe (www.tvresafe. org) from the Ministry of Justice and the Home Office. The rise in illegal tyre problems can be attributed to financial pressures on motorists, leading them to delay the purchase of new tyres, and sometimes opting for the usually illegal and dangerous option of part worn tyres. Trading Standards offices across the UK are being urged to enforce existing regulations regarding the sale of part worn tyres in a bid to improve consumer safety after a month long nationwide investigation by Tyresafe and Auto Express unearthed some alarming results. 50 part worn tyre were purchased from retailers from around the UK. A massive 98% of these tyres we re being sold illegally as they didn’t meet current requirements. Even more concerning was that more than a third of the tyres were found to contain po-

tentially dangerous forms of damage or non- compliance. Some examples of the dangerous forms of damage found were metal objects penetrating tyres, unsafe re pairs, exposed cords, bead damage, and evidence of runflat damage.Tanvic Tyres have seen a lot of distressed customers with tyre problems after having purchased part worn - and weeks previously. Your tyre is the only point of contact with the road and the contact patch for each tyre is about the size of the palm of your hand. They bear an incredible responsibility. It is vital that your tyres are properly maintained. Correct tyre care will reduce the likelihood of being involved in an accident, give longer tyre life, and reduce fuel bills. A tyre with 3mm of tread takes 25% longer to stop on wet roads than a new tyre, and a tyre that has 1.6mm of tread takes 50% longer. Illegal tyres incur fines of up to £2,500 and 3 penalty points per tyre. A tyre under inflated by 20% requires 3% more fuel to rotate it (equivalent to paying an extra 4p per litre for your fuel). A tyre that is under inflated by 20% will reduce the life of the tyre by 25%, and a tyre that is 40% under inflated will reduce the life of the tyre by 65%. TREAD DEPTH. The legal tread depth limit is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre, around the circumference.

Moaners or victims? – men and their motoring fines

Men are twice as likely as women to say their speeding fine was unfair Some 40% of motorists do not challenge fines, the Welsh are more likely to feel unfairly penalised, and pothole damage is more prevalent in the South and in Scotland. Research for Saga Motor Insurance* shows that men over 50 are almost twice as likely (16%) to say they have been the unfair victim of a speeding fine than women (9%) and 50% more likely to feel they

have wrongly received a parking ticket (men, 27% and women, 18%). Overall, two fifths of people feel they have been the unfair victim of a parking ticket while one in ten motorists say they were a victim of an unfair speeding fine. Overall, some 40% of motorists do not bother to complain and the most common reason for men was because they were afraid of costs involved while women did not know where to start. Being afraid of conflict tops the list of reasons why motorists haven’t challenged a garage for poor servicing or repairs. Women are the most likely to put on a brave face and complain to a garage (men 13% vs women 18%). In fact, women over 50 appeared to be considerably more successful than men when complaining to garages for poor servicing and repairs (women, 23% and men, 17%). People are the most confident when challenging parking tickets as almost a third (30%) of motorists admitted to challenging unwanted parking tickets while only one in 20 motorists complained about a speeding fine. Regionally, Wales is the capital of unfair parking and speeding fines

with 23% saying they have unfairly received a speeding fine and 27% saying they have been victim of an unfair parking fine. A quarter (26%) of Londoners say they have received a parking fine unfairly and interestingly a whopping 44% have challenged them.

EXTRA LETTERS & LOCAL RANTS

Corby people wish to know Dear..EXTRA After reading Tom Beattie's letter to extra, and the response from extra, I felt I needed to write on some other matters within the council. While the town centre looks very smart our councillors of all wards should look around them instead of being so focused on looking straight ahead, our grass verges, hedges, kerbside valleys are in a terrible state. Corby has a contract with a company to do all cutting back of such areas but while they came around during the rainy times, cut the grass churning it all up and leaving a mess in their wake, now they are doing nothing. Hubby and I did a ride about & seemingly apart from Oakley Vale and the town centre everywhere is in a third world state of litter, unkept area's of green, so what are we paying the contractors for ?. Bad enough that here is such a 'he said / she said' on finances that Corby Labour party have messed up on all the big things we know about, wonder what else we don't ?, that we all have to suffer our area's looking like some poor European countries, excuses are that birds are nesting !!, Corby is the only town I know of that birds nest 10 months of the year !!. Interesting enough a few days before the Queens visit there was one singular Council/Keir worker diligently scraping with a hoe all the tiny weeds from between the paving slabs and kerb in line with her car's route through in Cottingham Road !!!. How I wished I had my camera. We did have a camera and took photo's of the disgusting state of our overgrown paths, litter & graffiti, these we sent with a letter to our local councilors for our ward, as to date we have had little response. Our local Neighbourhood Association have a troublesome problem that we have asked the council for help with for the last 3 years,we just do not get a reply now !!. Can we have an open

Labour Council ?, I doubt it as people still vote the same people in during all elections in Corby. I can hear it coming forth now---' We can't trust any of them, Yes thats right, but how about voting in someone else and give them a try locally before people shout about our current M.P. she is constituency not borough. Mrs Dee Sellars Corby Dear EXTRA, May I thank County Councillor Stan Heggs for his interest and help with regard to damaged grass verges in Studfall Avenue. Our verges have suffered considerable damage caused by inconsiderate motorists parking on them which will no doubt have to be repaired at the Council tax payers expense. While not strictly in his area Mr Heggs has taken a keen interest in this problem. It is good to see that even if our local and County Labour Councillors seem to have little interest in this problem some of our Conservative County Councillors do have an real interest in the more mature areas of Corby. Thank you and well done Stan. Gordon Riddell Corby Dear Extra, I would like to congratulate the County and Borough Councillors for Stanion and Corby Old Village, Cllrs Stan Heggs and Ray Lilley, for the massive amount of hard work that they have put into bringing a pedestrian crossing to The Jamb in the Old Village. The expert highways officers at the

County Council originally highlighted that a straight forward pedestrian crossing would not be safe due to the road length and shape, the kerb height and the position of junctions. Despite these difficulties Cllrs Heggs and Lilley have pulled out all the stops to deliver a solution and have now received confirmation from the County Council that a safe and legal means has been found for the crossing to go ahead. It is great to see these two councillors working so hard to support the people that they represent in Stanion and the Old Village. Kind Regards, Cllr David Sims Corby Dear EXTRA, I had the pleasure of meeting dozens of bikers from the Motorcycle Action Group at the weekend, who staged a mass ‘rideout’ of bikes across the 12 EU parliamentary areas. Their aim – simple, really, they want this meddling EU to take its hands off biking! The group has been campaigning against a raft of EU proposals, which include the introduction of compulsory ABS, possible roadside checks by police or other Government agencies to inspect emissions and a ban on modifications. Yet again, we see the EU meddling in things and bringing in laws it doesn’t have too – its policies are hostile to these motorbike riders. The bikers I met were proud of their machines and took great care of them, including the installation of modifications . Bikers are not mad, it’s their necks at risk and these EU proposals will do nothing to help road safety, they will just alienate another section of the community. It’s nonsense and typical of the EU which pays homage to the “precautionary principle”. Under this they either ban anything which looks dangerous, or they surround it with masses of new rules and regulationss, all produced by a gang of bureaucrats who

ON THE PHONE . . . . Hi, I have just bought the Extra Newspaper today and could you let me know when the next issue is out, I really enjoyed reading it, the Chronicle is now a load of cr**p with a load of pages of ads and nothing else, and I can't wait for the next issue. Call from a Lovely Lady from Kettering Hi, I’ve just come back off holiday and got your Extra Newspaper, it’s coming along well. I used to work for the Chronicle in the garage and now the paper is far too big and most of it ends up in the bin. Your paper is getting there and spotted a couple of errors in it, but that’s nick picking however it would benefit from a funeral section. RECENT management changes at Wellingborough Town Football Club has seen added interest by the members to be part of the structure that will hopefully take the club to a higher level. The re-introduction of sub-committees to work with the executive committee has stimulated members to pull together and ensure that the responsibilities of running the club are distributed equally amongst a wider audience. Michael Clipston-Roome’s Grounds & Maintenance sub-committee has been reinforced by the appointment of an Environmental Technician Ray Stewart - who will take charge of the various buildings at the ground and ensure an acceptable standard of cleanliness is maintained. Ray will be supported by Roy Pearce, Haydn Morgan, Paul Wallace, ‘Tubby’ Chennell, Ernie Drage Martin Maloney and another recent valuable recruit, Darren Wingrove, who will be Michael’s deputy. > CRICKET A THOROUGHLY deserved and professional winning performance saw Wellingborough Town second XI beat Grendon and Prims firsts to maintain their lead at the top of Division Four with the half of the fixtures nearly done and dusted. Boro skipper Tim Coleman asked the home side to bat first and with a howling gale blowing down the slope it was going to be a day for some of the bowlers to show what they were made of. Veteran Clive Farrar did just that, bowling 10 overs on the spin for a creditable 1-29. Elliot Brown, more impressive every week, was the pick of the attack bowling a miserly opening spell to remove Prims' dangerous Steve Hanwell. Prims found runs hard to come by but Dan Wood and skipper Julian Barford laid some foundations for a par score. Coleman had other ideas, replacing Farrar, removed Wood and started chipping away at the Grendon middle order. The re-introduction of Elliott Brown saw him blow away the Prim's tail, proving to be too fast and straight for the lower order, leaving them all out for 113. After tea, the Boro openers set about the task of securing the 114 for victory. Boro suffered an early set back with interim opener Dan Austin conscious of his strike rate stats went after a straight one and was bowled. Nathan Griggs kept the scoreboard ticking over with some lusty blows and was out for decent 28 with the score on 62. Another quick wicket with the dismissal of Alex Bendon but Tony Walker and Coleman saw them home with plenty to spare, Coleman collecting his 500th run of the season on his way to 54 not out.
