Hopper
© Design by Dirk Wynants for Extremis, 2010
At a lively beer festival, elegance is almost certainly not the main concern, but this hasn’t stopped us from trying to improve access to the classic picnic table. We managed to incorporate more space at the sides to get in.
Hopper is a more functional solution for a classic concept: the picnic table. The bent leg feature eliminates the awkward straddle of climbing over the benches. Aluminium or steel legs in combination with class I hardwoods ensure material longevity while the attached benches offer a clean aesthetic at all times.
Take a seat on the benches of the Hopper picnic table. Equipped with a backrest and cushions, you have the extra comfort you might need. Thanks to the clean design with sleek benches, you never have to worry about a cluttered patio.
Wervik, Belgium
Around the Extremis table, each pool lover finds their favorite spot. Sliding onto the bench or finding comfort in the wide shell chairs? With Hopper combo and Captain’s chairs, you’re in for the most comfortable conversations.

Gargantua
© Design by Dirk Wynants for Extremis, 1994
Back in 1994, Dirk Wynants wanted to create a table where children could comfortably sit at the same height as the adults to enable better communication. He created the perfect family table, ready to withstand the elements, and at the same time a true design icon.
The owners of this garden in Moorsele, Belgium, testify, "the Gargantua table is the center of the festivities at every gathering. Whether we just want to enjoy the garden with our family or we invite 12 people, the picnic table attracts everyone, young and old, even up to four generations at a time, like a magnet.
Since 1995, this Gargantua has been at the heart of family life, evolving with its owners through every stage. From kids to grandkids, the adjustable benches have grown alongside them, making it the ultimate gathering spot for four generations.
Private garden Klerken, Belgium
With views sweeping you off your feet, this penthouse has a one-of-a-kind patio that makes an impression on young and old. Both the lounge and dining areas are furnished with powerful architectural pieces that fit this scenic setting.
K-Tower
Kortrijk, Belgium
This gorgeous poolhouse is not just a place to dry off after a dip in the water. Inside there’s a beautiful kitchen (with bar!) where the home owner shows off his culinary skills and creates al fresco dinners to remember. The iconic Gargantua in galvanized steel is the perfect spot to dine in the shade of the covered terrace. The aged wood, clean lines and functional design of the picnic table complements the sleek silhouette of this modern and airy poolhouse. Poolhouse Kortrijk, Belgium
Gargantua
Aging gracefully is not only a matter of design, but also of material choice. The galvanized legs prove to be a super durable material that never rusts, while the exposure to sun and rain has caused the wooden tabletop and benches to receive a grayish tone that now perfectly suit the weathered floor.

This free hanging, tilting shade combines the serenity of flat design with the functionality of a hand fan system. Thanks to its unique design, Sensu catches the sun with a variety of positions and doesn’t take up any space on your table.
When one umbrella just won't cut it, Sensu has got you covered! Sensu duo diamond features two canopies that can be angled independently to provide shade wherever you need it. Beat the summer heat in a practical and stylish way.
Private residence Wervik, Belgium
A big patio and a big sofa need... a lot of shade? Not an issue for this Sensu shade. Casting a vast shadow over the seating, and being 360° rotatable, you’ll have nothing to worry about on a sunny day.
Providing shade while seated at the Panigiri table is effortlessly achieved with our Sensu parasol. Featuring a special variation on the parasol pole – it’s tilted – it guarantees a clear passage in between the bench and the parasol foot. Depending on the length of the Panigiri table, additional Sensu parasols can be seamlessly incorporated.
Bonhommes Meigem, Belgium
With the option to tilt and rotate Sensu, shade is created wherever needed, but the true benefit on this patio is how this freehanging umbrella doesn't take up any space in the middle of the setting. What's left is a sweet spot for relaxation in the garden.
Picnik

The launch of this design elevated a simple 'tête à tête' to an extremely romantic or even philosophical converse. Picnik became a real design classic, thanks to its iconic shape.

Walrus
© Design by Dirk Wynants for Extremis, 2014
The only "real" outdoor sofa. Named after the impressive mammal that braves water, weather and wind with its thick, smooth hide, this design combines two different materials in order to fulfill the seemingly irreconcilable requirements of high comfort levels, aesthetics and ultimate weather resistance.
The hide from this all-weather sofa is made of an all-purpose fabric that can stay outdoors all year round - when it rains, the cushions and blankets are safely stored in the pouch. When it’s time to get cushy, just take out the softness from the pouch and start lounging!
This summer, we’re staying in and exploring the backyard. There's no need to pack up and leave when you have your own summer destination right at home! This garden breathes peace and tranquility. Can we book a stay for two, please?
Private residence Ypres, Belgium
The Walrus sofa is father’s preferred place to spend the day outside. The soft sofa is super comfortable and always good-looking. He loves the fact that the sofa never needs a cover and that the comfort cushions can simply be stored away inside the sofa itself!
