For over 35 years, Ultimate Direction has set the bar for outdoor products with unparalleled fit and function. THE ORIGIN OF RUNNING HYDRATION

Born in a garage in 1985, ultra-runner Bryce Thatcher started Ultimate Direction as a way to hydrate and fuel more efficiently on his runs. Stitching together the blueprints for a hydration pack with his mother’s sewing machine, Bryce introduced Ultimate Direction's first running hydration waist packs and handheld water bottles three years before anyone else in the market.

ATHLETE-BACKED INNOVATION

Looking to streamline hydration storage even more, we launched our innovative Hydro Carry apparel line in 2019. By integrating water bottle storage directly into the apparel, we made it even more comfortable and effortless to carry the most basic essentials while running.

In 2021, we pursued the idea that the gear you wear is as essential as the gear you carry. Hydration is the source of a healthy life, which is why all of Ultimate Direction's gear and apparel is completely free of bisphenol A (BPA), a harmful industrial chemical often found in plastic containers.

Products that include the bluesign ® or OEKO-TEX ® label have been independently verified to contain materials that guarantee responsible, sustainable manufacturing practices or include no harmful substances, respectively.

Our in-house team is committed to repairing used product and replacing components as much as possible, rather than discarding worn or torn garments. This gives our gear a second life and keeps usable items out of the landfill.

We care about the origin of every detail, which is why 100% of our hangtag packaging is responsibly sourced from FSC-certified forestry suppliers. The FSC certification also means our packaging is made from partially recycled materials and can be recycled again.

A professional endurance athlete, with a focus on 100 mile races on roads, track, and trail, Zach is a well-rounded leader in his sport . He coachs endurance athletes of all abilities from shorter events all the way up to ultramarathons.

OBSTACLE COURSE RACER / PICKERINGTON, OH

Cameron is an Obstacle Course Racer who specializes in obstacle heavy courses, long climbs, technical trails, and descents. Before focusing solely on Obstacle Racing, Cameron trained and coached ninja, parkour, and bouldering.

ULTRA TRAIL RUNNER / SCOTTSDALE, AZ

Callie is an ultra trail runner and body positivity advocate, currently residing in Scottsdale, AZ, with an insatiable curiosity to find the fun in every run. She wasn’t always a runner. But, thanks to a complete lifestyle overhaul that helped her lose 200 lbs, Callie discovered a newfound love for running, and all the places it allows her to explore.

JASON SCHLARB DEREK LINDSTROM

Jason Schlarb is an adventurer, coach (25 athletes), race director (3 races), athlete manager for Norda 665 & one of the best long distance mountain runners in the world. Jason won Hardrock with Killian Jornet in 2016 in the second fastest time ever & was first person to ever ski the Hardrock.

JACKY HUNT-BROERSMA

ULTRA RUNNER / GILBERT, AZ

Jacky Hunt-Broersma is an adaptive athlete and started my running 6 years ago. She lost her leg to cancer. She loves pushing the limits of what is possible on a prosthetic leg and is passionate about seeing more athletes like herself on the trails and at ultramarathons.

TRANSPLANT RECIPIENT & ATHLETE / MARQUETTE, MI

Derek is a former road racer with 114 marathons under his belt (2:29 PR) who has transitioned to the trails. Derek was diagnosed with chronic heart failure in March of 2018, and had a gradual decline until March 2023 when Derek was placed on the heart transplant list. On December 3rd 2023, Derek was gifted with a new heart.

Mountain running allows John to do both of those things at once; the longer and the tougher the terrain and conditions, the better. The closer John gets to his limit, the more he becomes aware of his own strengths and weaknesses and how to best use or overcome them.

Joseph Gray is an American world champion runner who competes across multiple distances and styles of distance running including trail, track, skyrunning, road, crosscountry, mountain and snowshoe races. Gray has garnered 21 USA National Championship victories and represented Team USA 35 times so far in his career.

Nadia has completed 154 marathons with 78 Boston Qualifications, 127 half marathons, 16 half/full Ironmans, 16 ultra marathons, and several adventure / stage races, frequently in the top of her age group or overall women.

Kyle has spent his entire professional career working with community-based organizations and local government. Most recently, Kyle worked as the Chief of Staff for Mayor Kim Janey's Council President Office and currently works with the Mayor's Office of Housing and Office of Housing Stability as the Assistant Director.

Justin Simoni is the “Long Ranger”: he bikes, climbs, runs and sets FKTs as ambitious as the Highest Hundred, a self supported bike and hike tour of the highest one hundred peaks in Colorado.

Kriste Peoples is a Denver-based outdoor enthusiast and guide, runner, speaker, and mindfulness meditation teacher. When she's not adventuring along the trails of Colorado’s Front Range, Kriste is likely writing about it or recovering with carbs in a local eatery.

Nicole Bitter has been a competitive ultra-runner for the last ten years. In 2015, she ran the fastest North American time in the 100-mile on a trail. Nicole is a two-time USATF (USA Track & Field) winner at the 100-mile distance and two-time USATF trail runner of the year.

Ryan is a professional ultra-trail runner who loves the 100-mile race distance and has been running since he was in middle school. As a gay, queer athlete, he is passionate about creating community for LGBTQ+ athletes and making the outdoors more inclusive & equitable.

Don Reichelt is a trail and ultra runner living in Fairplay, Colorado with his Wife, Amy, and two dogs: Bean and Sprout. In November of 2023, Don won the USATF 24 Hour National Championship. His 2023 season featured multiple fixed-time races from 24-48 hours and also featured a finish at the Cocodona 250.
