Your Key to Lake Country

Call Deanna today and discover what true excellence can mean for you.

’Twas Closing Time ’Twas the week before Christmas, we were closing on the house, everyone was happy, even the mouse. The papers were ready, prepared with great care, the buyers and sellers soon would be there. The roads were all glistening, with new fallen snow, the problems would be many, if the wind should blow. However, no worry, our First Weber agent had arrived, satisfaction of her clients was for what she had strived. The closing took place without a hitch, even with bad roads no one slid in the ditch. Now ’tis Christmas and all through the house, the buyers are happy, even the mouse. The sellers are delighted, they were handled with care, their money is invested, with some to spare. The moral of the story, I’ll try to rhyme, remember this, as I’ll tell you one time. No matter the month, the day or the year, just give a call

largest antique mall in southeastern Wisconsin Antiques on Second is now Antiques on Pierce. After their success on 2nd Street, in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood, owners Cheryl and Brian Belli jumped at the opportunity to move into an even larger and more conveniently located building at 1512 West Pierce Street. The new Walker’s Point location is just five minutes west of its old address and offers easy access to either I-94 or I-43. The newly opened Antiques on Pierce certainly builds on its reputation as “the largest antique mall in southeastern Wisconsin”, home to more than 200 antique and collectible dealers . Downsizing for the Future Whether it is due to retirement, relocation or reorganizing, there comes a time in everyone’s life where change is necessary. All of which can be overwhelming if not planned and taken with small steps. The owner of designXchange, a home décor consignment shop, sees the stress unexpected change can cause on a daily basis. Clients and customers who may have recently sold their home quicker than expected or have health needs that arise without warning are suddenly stressed by what to do next. Items once collected and coveted for years can become a burden and deciding what to do with them can be emotionally draining. However, with thorough planning and the correct resources these lifestyle changes can be minimal. “In my line of business of unloading one’s personal treasures, it can be a turning point of one’s past, present and future. I would suggest taking a few steps getting one’s home in order in case of a major change of lifestyle,” said the owner. Her advice, get a handle on your belongings: For items that family or friends have adored, it’s time to let

go. If you know someone has admired your china, collectables, or has the same interest or hobby as you, turn those pieces over to them as gifts to enjoy. As in most cases, items that are treasured by you will become a keepsake by loved ones who admired you. Next are items that are truly valuable, especially if you may be having a financial hardship. You should seek the advice of a professional who has a license to appraise items. However, they should not be the same person as the seller, as you need to cover all your bases so no one is taken advantage of. Use the Internet to your advantage. Typing in the name of a china pattern on eBay will show what the potential value is. However, the key to the market is previously sold items of the same piece. What eBay sellers are asking for is not always what they are sold for. The sold column is what one should be looking for which can advise you of a fair market value. Private affects should be handled on a regular basis. Excess paperwork, magazines, this all needs to go. As you may be starting a new chapter in your life soon. Nothing to be

be dreading. This is a time to rejoice. You have earned this. Clutter from your children’s memory box should have left the nest the minute they moved into their own home. Moving it from house to house because your children or grandchildren mentioned they may want it one day. Make them take it, or remove it. Then there is the furniture. All furniture does not fit into all spaces. So again, consult a professional designer who truly understands and hears what your needs will be. A professional will provide you with drawings so you know exactly what will fit your future space and needs. There are many options to sell your items that must go: auctions, rummage sales, online sales and consignment stores. designXchange offers a 50/50 split on items sold. They’ll display your items in a tasteful home-like settings to obtain maximum value for your cherished pieces. The first 30 days, items are listed at full price, between 30 and 60 days, items are marked 20% off then after 60 days items become 40% off of the original price. They are tastefully displayed with like items for the savvy shopper. At an auction you have one night to sell your items. If could be the day of the big game and no one shows and your items could go for little or nothing. Rummage, estate and tags sales, people are still convinced everything should be a quarter and then they still want to dicker. designXchange offers a contract with terms spelled out that are easy to understand. They have expert designers and sales people that do the work for you to make this new chapter in your life hassle free. They are always looking for the finest classic pieces to showcase in their stores. designXchange’s Pewaukee store is located in the heart of downtown just blocks from WCTC and the famous Pewaukee beach in a 150-year-old church. With a charming atmosphere that features everything from teapots to garden benches the charming store boasts its collection of furniture petites. Their Hartland location has 11,000 square feet of vignettes—room settings that give even the most discriminating designers a desire to come back weekly. They feature a large area rug room as well as a huge selection of design ideas to inspire all styles and designer looks. n

Home with Country Life... Inspiring ways to bring country style into your home.

Frosted Christmas The magic of the holiday season is captured in the glitter of this frosted winter arrangement, created with everlasting greens and florals. Monches Farm’s floral designers Johanna Kleckner and Sue Morgan have been creating floral art for over 25 years. They would be happy to work with you to create a custom piece for your home using your design colors and reflecting your personal style. Call them at Monches Farm at 262-966-2787 for a consultation. To create this piece Sue used materials are all everlasting or artificial: Natural wood base, 5” tall x 8” wide, or similar container 1 block of dry floral foam 5 frosted red roses 4 evergreen spruce branches 2 stems of small frosted red berries with frosted foliage 3 stems of large red frosted berries with frosted cones and foliage 1 stem frosted white leaves 1 stem frosted grape vine ball Start by securing your floral foam into your container. Weave the frosted grape vine stem across the base of the arrangement, with the frosted grapevine ball trailing over the side. Next, create the outline of the arrangement with the green spruce stems and space the frosted roses evenly throughout arrangement. Finally, add the berried stems and frosted elements throughout the evergreens, cutting the stems to different lengths to create depth. n
