EDITORIAL VISION
TŘEBÍČ 2021 10th Regional Selection Conference of EYP Czech Republic
10TH REGIONAL SELECTION CONFERENCE
Dearest applicants! We are pleased that you have decided to apply for the Editor’s position at the 10th Regional Selection Conference of EYP Czech Republic, which will happen in Autumn this year 12–14 November 2021 (with 11 November being the CJO day for all Officials). After quite a long pause to physical sessions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to finally host another physical session. We desire for this session to again enrich us with the true ‘’EYP spirit’’ of everyone gathering in one place. Together we will create a friendly environment for complete newcomers and our old acquaintances, as well as for those who have become familiar with the workings of our organisation only through the Internet and video calls. Třebíč is a lovely city located near the border of the two cardinal historical regions of the Czech Republic—Bohemia and Moravia. The historical Jewish Quarter is one of the best-preserved Jewish ghettos in the whole of Europe and it is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list along with the St. Procopius’ Basilica and the Třebíč Castle. Our session motto is ‘’Using knowledge of the past to shape our future’’. As the city’s brief description shows, Třebíč is linked closely to Jewish history and the Jewish population. Since we all know very well what Jews have been going through during the previous few decades, especially during World War II, we were inspired to choose this motto by the history of Třebíč and the lessons we can still learn from its Jewish community’s unfortunate fate. However, while the reasoning is quite specific, we believe that at the same time this motto allows for a wide range of topics and media projects and gives freedom in shaping the editorial and media aspects of the session in a way enjoyable for everyone. We would like the Media Team at our conference to be led by a creative person who has a clear vision, who is a hardworking optimist, who can lead their team to work independently and lastly, who, together with the Head Organisers and the President of the session, will make every effort to fulfil our vision. We leave the choice of projects and media outlets entirely up to you, but they should retain the main idea—which is that, despite all the bad events in human history, we must go further, learn from our mistakes and keep in our memories what we no longer want to happen. We would like to thank you very much in advance for doing your best with your application for the post of an Editor and although our paths may not connect in the end, we firmly believe that one day we will meet somewhere, at an EYP event or beyond. We wish you good luck and we will inform you of the results after the call and the Selection Panel itself. Yours faithfully, Lucie and Matěj <3
10TH REGIONAL SELECTION CONFERENCE
Questions 1. Please provide an email address which you check frequently for selection purposes. 2. Please include a link to any song we should listen to while reading your application. 3. Introduce yourself to us through any medium (text, video, presentation, photo collage—there are no limits to creativity). 4. How could the motto of our session, ''Using knowledge of the past to shape our future'', be applied directly to your personal life experiences? What was the biggest mistake of your life and how did you learn from it to improve your future? 5. Many of the Media Team members will be novices with no prior (physical) session experience. How would you get every member to take something away from working with you and feel supported enough by you? 6. Describe to us as accurately as possible the way you work, your approach to tasks, your planning and one main motivation why you are applying. 7. How would the vision of the other Board Members (HOs’, President’s...) translate into your work as an Editor at the conference? Try designing some media projects which would encourage cooperation between different Officials Teams.
