The Media Academy 2021 will be a digital training event focused on educating active EYPers on the topics of media and communication, encouraging them to use their EYP Media knowledge in their professional lives and promoting further sustainable knowledge sharing network-wide. To accommodate for the different levels of experience, the training programme will be divided into three separate streams of varying levels of prior knowledge, thus making the Media Academy truly open to anyone. The event does not solely focus on EYP media, but rather encourages the participants to learn to work with all types of media, making the training a great option for someone who is considering using their EYP experience in other areas of their life. The trainings on the different areas will be put together by the Trainers’ Team whose members have previous experience in EYP training events and experience in the field of (EYP) media. The main topics for the training include project development and management or strategic communication and media technologies. In addition, we are hoping to include external partners and trainers to share their expertise in order to grow our organisational knowledge as well as our own. Trainers’ team will create guidelines and materials based on their training and work on projects to be shared with the network. The event aims to provide sustainable learning opportunities for members and National Committees long after its end. The event also does not solely focus on EYP media and encourages the participants to learn to work with all kinds of media, making the training a great option for someone who is considering using their EYP experience in other areas of their life. The programme consists of two days of intensive programmes during the weekend filled with workshops and training and a more flexible and free schedule over weekdays. During this time, the Trainees will create ‘group projects’ with their Trainer’s guidance to put their newly obtained knowledge to practice. With Trainees receiving continuous support from their supervisors and fellow participants, the event will produce high quality and diverse output which we hope will inspire all EYPers involved in media to take a step out of their comfort zone and use their skill in real life as well. By the end of the event, every training stream will have produced at least two projects which will be presented to the rest of the participants on the day of the Closing Ceremony. The Media Academy is a first event of its kind both with its format but the focus on non-EYP media as well. We believe that the training will be a fantastic opportunity for all of the motivated young people in our organisation to take a step outside of their comfort zone and will inspire innovation in events all over the network. The Media Academy is being organised in close cooperation with the International Office and the Governing Body. The event will take place online 13–21 August 2021.
THE HEAD ORGANISERS We are Sophie Serebryanaya (19) and Oisín Lucey-Tomiczek (17), the most unpronounceable HO duo of all time! We met at the Czech Regional Session in Ostrava in 2018. Later we met at the Regional Session in Linz as well as at the Czech Digital National Session in 2020.

My EYP journey began in 2017, since then I have tried out different positions both at sessions and in the National Committee. My goal within the EYP is to provide others with opportunities that I had and bring something new to the network, hence this new type of event. Currently I am also preparing for my university entrance exams.
I attended my very first EYP session in 2018. Over the few years I have been active I have always enjoyed working with new people to create new memories, new opportunities and gaining experience with things I have never done before. That is why I cannot wait for this event to be a learning experience for all of us together. I would like to study international relations in the future, which is another reason EYP has had such a big impact on my life.
OUR VISION Our goal for this event is to create a diverse and comfortable learning environment where participants will be encouraged to further share what they learned within their National Committees, be it as Trainees or as Officials. Since the Officials’ Team is smaller at this event than most, we would like the teams to work closer together. With this being a summer event whose participants have prior EYP experience, we would like it to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, thus being not only a learning experience but also a fun time spent with likeminded young people.
THE ORGANISING TEAM We are now looking for a team of 4 Czech Organisers for the Media Academy. If you are looking for something new in your EYP portfolio and consider yourself a passionate and enthusiastic individual, this is the position for you! Each Organiser has a designated position, each with its own responsibilities. European Youth Parliament
