VICE PRESIDENT VISION
PARDUBICE 2022 24th National Selection Conference of EYP Czech Republic
Dear potential applicant, If you are reading this, it means the 24th National Selection Conference of EYP CZ Pardubice 2022 may have caught your attention. I am Elisavet and I will be leading the Academic Team throughout this event as the session’s President. I would love to work with people with whom we will share some common ideas but will also get to build and develop new ones. This document and the following vision are a mere representation of what I imagine the session to be like. If any of the elements and information listed below sound like something you would be interested in, I would love to receive your application to become part of our team. Even if you think that you have something better to propose than I currently do, I very much look forward to seeing that written in your application so we can further integrate everyone’s ideas collaboratively. Happy reading! Elisavet Sidiropoulou President of the 24th National Selection Conference of EYP CZ Pardubice 2022
THE SESSION Pardubice 2022 will take place 23–27 March for Officials. My general vision is to borrow some of our digital session experience to dedicate a portion of time throughout the pre-session period to adequately train the Chairs’ Team. That essentially means we would like to have the CJO day (23 March) be more of a laid back and get-to-know time, rather than a day packed with training modules one after the other, perhaps only focusing on certain important session elements like explaining Resotyping etc. During the event, we will be welcoming 9 committees in total. The theme we will be working with is “Shaping our identity in the fragile present”, which we are aiming to encompass in all our topics and activities. You can read more about our theme in the Head Organiser’s Vision, which is available on the Members’ Platform of the event.
THE ACADEMIC TEAM AND BOARD The nature of our event allows us to move towards the Academic Team quite flexibly. Given the size of the event in terms of Delegates and Committees, we will be welcoming on board 3 Vice Presidents and at least 9 Chairpersons for 9 Committees. Our goal is to ideally give Chairpersons the option to either solo or co-chair based on the available pool of applicants and individual preferences. This can hopefully be a chance for growth either in learning to collaborate with someone or taking the initiative to lead a committee individually.

The Vice Presidents will have a large role in the academic development of the session, including topic drafting, Topic Overview structure/format development as well as in the general structure of the team, such as Chairperson selection. The Vice Presidents will not be around to follow and execute a plan but to actively contribute with their input and prepare themselves for future presidency positions. In that spirit and in hopes of embracing the session’s theme to shape our identities and embrace our individuality, each Vice President will get the chance to lead and take ownership of a specific pillar or process of the session, upon advising with the rest of the board. My board for this session would ideally be described as dynamic, ready to take initiative and willing to experiment. Nevertheless and without any exaggerations, we aim for substantial ideas and a learning progress; not simply innovating for the sake of innovation. By embracing the basic knowledge and principles we all have and can transmit, we will take a step further into trying out elements and ideas that make sense to us and have a purpose for the development of the Chairs’ team as a whole.
THE IN-PERSON SESSION After a long while of digital events, the EYP network is slowly re-visiting its in-person format. I see this as a chance to reinvent and ameliorate our sessions by combining the perks of real-life contact and the tools and knowledge acquired during our digital experience. The pandemic has allowed us to discover a lot about ourselves and opening back up to the world would remain a learning experience and an adjustment period for us all. The ideal concept for me would be to gather a team of people with multiple backgrounds; whether you first started EYP in a digital event or you’ve been around since the ice age, this could be the place for you. This combination should allow us to replicate the good practices of digital events (e.g. online tools like Miro can still be immensely useful to limit waste and use of paper), but also get a newfound appreciation for the opportunity to gather together and invest in human contact in all levels of the event. We will focus a lot on communication and social interaction within an effort to foster team bonding and development. Last but not least, we will undertake the responsibility to support people who learned to love EYP through a screen but are now called to step into a room and face their delegates with no boundaries between them.
WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM YOU? In the spirit of transparency and organisation, I will roughly share a general timeline which should fit your own schedule should you be willing to join us. •
The Vice Presidents should expect their academic engagement to begin shortly after their selection. Our aim is to begin our planning and to have concluded topic drafting by the end of the year. They will also be expected to dedicate some time to providing input for the Chairs’ selection, which will take place in the early days of 2022.

All parties involved, Vice Presidents and Chairpersons, should be available to dedicate time to the writing and development of Topic Overviews throughout January and February of 2022. Interim deadlines will be individually set between the board and the respective Chairpersons, depending on individual availability, but we will all be expected to deliver the content of the Topic Overviews by the end of February.
•
The remainder of our time will be filled with far more flexible activities that will be decided and planned based on the team’s availability and goals, until we all get to meet in March.
