MIKKELI 2021

Regional Session of EYP Finland

- VISION BOOKLET -

Head Organisers’ vision

Dear Applicant,

We are extremely excited to set forth our vision for Mikkeli Regional Session 2021!

With the world having faced a serious health crisis such as The COVID-19 pandemic, citizens all over Europe are more aware of their well-being than ever. Therefore, our top priority will be the well-being of both the officials and the delegates throughout the session. It is vital to the whole EYP experience that we make everyone participating feel warm and welcome, especially since it is one of the first physical sessions in a long time, and it could take a while for individuals to adjust.

Additionally, communication within teams is vital. We are hoping to build an honest and transparent team with motivated individuals who have positive attitudes. Having an active, well integrated team who knows how to have fun is what we are hoping for too!

Thank you for your application and hope to see you at MIRS21!

Best Regards,

Niina and Oskari

Head Organisers - Mikkeli Regional Session 2021

Session Theme:

Shaping welfare - Reinforcing the health of Europe to endure the challenges of the modern society With the world having faced a serious health crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic, health care policies have been on everyone's mind lately. We are aiming to connect young people all around Europe to debate and solve the challenges of today’s pressing issues regarding the field of health. At MIRS 2021, we are aiming to turn today´s uncertainty into a discussion for young people to put their heads together, share their ideas and ignite debate.

Today's health services are under a lot of strain to meet the requirements of people all across Europe. Health is interwoven with many social and economic domains such as sustainable health governance, equitable access, health technologies, sexual health and how the spread of disease has differentiated due to different demographics and areas. Promoting globally sustainable health policy, reinforced by research and innovation and guided by effective governance, is critical to achieving healthy human populations.

We believe that solutions to today’s healthcare difficulties should include the viewpoints of young Europeans who will be impacted in the long run. Which is why we at MIRS 2021 want to encourage and empower young people to rethink and spark debate on global EU health policies.

Presidential vision

Dear reader and potential applicant,

Firstly, it is beyond amazing to have your interest in Mikkeli 2021, be it as a prospective Official or a reader. For Mikkeli 2021, Oskari, Nina, Annelou, Gosia, and I have aligned our visions to make sure the session leaves you with an impact for good. Working under the theme "Shaping welfare - Reinforcing the health of Europe to endure the challenges of the modern society" along with the broader Officials' Team, the Academic Team's culture will be revolving around: bending before breaking, actively learning, and balancing.

HEALTH IS THE PIVOTAL CORE

Starting with elaboration over the theme - health is the pivotal core of any social and economic domains in which a society functions. Considering today's stance on healthcare systems and implications, we will gather young Europeans' concrete input on the different aspects of EU health policies, such as equitable access, pharmacovigilance, and cross-border healthcare systems. Youngsters of today are the ones who get to shape the future, and it should be them to define the most sustainable, efficient, and effective practices of tomorrow.

THE SESSION BOARD

Narrowing the work structure, the session board will prioritise encouragement, empowerment, and inspiration, while concurrently creating an open and safe atmosphere for a momentous experience. Along with this foundation ideology, the three pillars will be the main focus within the Academic Team.

BEND BEFORE BREAK - DISCOVER THE UNKNOWN

EYP is a place where we get to make calculated mistakes and thrive through. A place where we feel safe and reached onto, a place where we learn to take or lend a hand. In facilitating personal development, the Chairs Team will be working in a safe environment where each member will get to make use of their personal space for discovering their personal limits, ideas, and the work structure that suits them the best. They will be given the opportunity of making mistakes and bending before breaking, discovering the unknown.

ACTIVE LEARNING - DISCOVER THE OPPORTUNITIES

Whatever one’s background in EYP can be, everyone has a space in Mikkeli. Aiming to expand the Officials’ understanding of what the roles can offer and achieve a broader team of Officials, the leadership and session board will strive to stimulate active learning within the team to ease the discovery of opportunities through focusing on inter-team cooperation. On the academic side, the chairpersons will be able to provide input in each other’s work and learn through exchanging experiences.

BALANCE IT UP - DISCOVER THE JOY

Knowing how hectic and overwhelming a session can get for a Chairperson, we want to balance it up. Mikkeli 2021 will not just be a place to work and thrive, but also a space where we get to enjoy the social facet of EYP. The session board will be responsible for the implementation of all the components of welfare within the Chairs Team, while making sure no one feels over-burdened but a part of something exceptional. By sticking to achievable, timely, small deadlines for work, the Chairs will be able to discover the joy Mikkeli 2021 will offer.

If this sounds like an atmosphere that you would like to be working under, I genuinely cannot wait to read your application and have the prospect of welcoming you to the beautiful city of Mikkeli this autumn!

With all the best,

Atakan Caglayan

Editorial vision

Dear potential Media Team Member,

At Mikkeli 2021, our media team will be a space for creativity and personal development. The team will work together to create cohesive coverage of the session, whilst learning new skills.

There will be a strong focus on personal development and everyone reaching the goals they would like to reach. Besides the basics of media, the editorial team will dive deeper into what everyone’s personal goals are for the session. These goals can be anything, ranging from meeting new people, learning new (media) skills or taking on a bigger challenge than you have before. By catering towards’ everyone’s personal goals, we hope to have a diverse range of media projects.

Every team member will have a large amount of ownership over their own work, so they can be something to be proud of at the end of the session. The editorial team will be there to guide and help the team every step of the way, but in the end, it will be in our team members’ hands. By focussing on project development and planning right at the start of CJO training, we will make sure that we do not take on too many projects as a team. I will ensure that everything we decide to do as a team is feasible, in order to limit the amount of deadline-stress on the team.

Along with this, we will search for a good balance between work and fun. Although media teams often have a lot to do during sessions, we also hope for you to enjoy Mikkeli 2021. We aim to create things while having a fun time. We will give our team members the space to go into committees, to do energizers and to socialize with other teams as well. The welfare of every media team membersis very important to me, and I aim to create an environment where everyone feels safe to express their opinions, feels supported and feels free to ask questions.

I hope that you will join me in Mikkeli to create lasting memories. Whether you are taking your first steps as a media team member, or have done some (EYP) media before, I am sure there is something for you to learn at Mikkeli.

Hope to see you soon,

Annelou Snippe

Jury vision

Dear potential applicant,

It is very dear to me that every team member feels included and empowered in shaping the way we cooperate with each other. I aim to create an open platform for discourse and planning with no hierarchy within the team. As such, I will be looking for individuals who value honesty and transparency, and who feel comfortable with expressing their own opinion or asking questions. Together, we will discover, or re-discover, the fresh perspective of EYP that being a jury member gives, by fostering a healthy feedback culture and open space for learning. No questions asked will be dismissed as redundant, and no discussions will be left unfinished - all so that we can promote fairness in our feedback and selection of delegates, and mutual understanding and growth in ourselves.

During Mikkeli we will be tasked with assessing delegates and selecting some of them to their future conferences. NC capacity building, as well as impacting future EYPers through observation and providing feedback is as much of a great privilege, as it is a responsibility. To ensure the Jury Team of Mikkeli 2021 has a clear understanding of various aspects the role entails, I aim to put a reasonable amount of emphasis on pre-session work. Through openness and equal decision making, I envision maximising knowledge-sharing and empowering our team members with confidence in their skills. Most importantly for me however is that we shape the Jury Team together, with each team member feeling comfortable with expressing their opinions.

Lastly, all of us in the leadership of Mikkeli 2021 want to put emphasis on creating inter-team relationships and work-fun balance. As we transition ourselves back into physical sessions, a support system can be very beneficial. Hence, in Mikkeli we will be coming together as a team of officials supporting and respecting each other's progress, and I would love for our Jury Team to join in the session with their ideas and positive attitude!

If what you have read so far resonates with you, and you want to contribute to this experience, I will be happy to read your application.

Best,

Gosia
