EYP NL PRESENTS
18th Alumni Weekend Information Booklet 21st to 23rd of September Vierhouten
Welcome Dear Alumni, We are very proud that once again, the alumni of EYP the Netherlands will gather for a weekend to socialise, follow trainings, gain knowledge and become a more experienced EYPer. To us, it is very important to see everyone there and see friendships form, or see old friends reunited. Therefore, the Alumni Training Weekend is more than just a place to gain and share knowledge, it is also a place to socialise, reconnect and enjoy a little break from the hectic lives we all lead. We want to provide you with all the tools needed to get back in the bubble for a bit and just enjoy. Therefore, we truly hope to see you in Vierhouten from the 21st-23rd of September! Love from the entire board, Annelotte
Training Weekend In line with tradition, the Autumn Alumni Weekend will focus on the training of both new and experienced alumni. The Training Weekend will provide you with guidance on staying active in EYP both in the Netherlands as well as abroad. This weekend, you can learn media team; tackling the academic side as a chairperson or taking care of organisational aspects as an organiser. Additionally, the Training weekend can provide you with a basic understanding of the internal structures of EYP and the international governance of the organisation. At the end of the weekend, you will hopefully be ready to follow your own Aside from the training, there will also be other activities and an evening program. After all, the weekend is above everything a fun get-away in the Dutch countryside, full of activities, socialising and meeting new people or connecting with old friends. Read more about the theme party later on! Hint: Videogames!
Meet the Trainers The Head Trainer of this weekend is Marta Sznajder, an experienced alumna of EYP Poland. She will put together different modules for this weekend together with two fellow Trainers: Giedrė Birmontaitė (EYP Lithuania) and Âli Okumuşoğlu (EYP Luxembourg).
Word of welcome from the Head Trainer Dear Alumni, I hope you are getting as excited for the training as I am, with just a few days ahead of it! I also hope you already feel proud of yourself - by considering applying to this event you already show interest in learning and it is definitely something to congratulate you on. I hope in this message I will manage to convince you that joining us for the 18th Alumni Training Weekend of EYP NL is the right thing for you to do, as I am convinced being humble and open to new things can be one’s greatest asset on their path to self development. During this training weekend, no matter your experience or area of expertise, together with Giedre and Ali we will aim to challenge you to step out of your comfort zones and to
empower you to be confident in your endeavours to try out new things. As trainers, we promise to do our best to satisfy the needs of all through providing modules on various aspects of EYP, ranging from the traditional C/M/O trainings to discussions on skills we should all possess as EYPers or matters related to the structure of EYP as a network. Our goal will be to accommodate people of all experiences, realising the potential impact sharing these experiences can have on others. Above all that, I promise we will aim to create a positive and safe learning environment, where everyone would feel welcome to ask questions and speak their minds. At the same time, we will do our best to conduct all of this in a relatively chilled and fun atmosphere. Sounds like a pretty perfect way to spend your weekend, right? I hope to see you in Vierhouten! Love, Marta
General Information The training weekend will be held from Friday the 21st to Sunday the 23rd of September. You are expected to arrive on Friday at 19:00, after dinner and to be available until Sunday afternoon around 15:00, unless otherwise indicated in the sign-up form. The location of this year’s Training Weekend is Het Rode Valkennest (The Red Falcon’s Nest), part of the Paasheuvelgroep in Vierhouten. It is close to one of the largest national parks of the Netherlands: De Veluwe. Even though we will be surrounded by nature, the location is very accessible: a bus connects this location to a nearby train station every hour, also on Sundays! The Red Falcon’s Nest is a historic building that was built in 1928-1929. Besides its architectural importance, it also has a lot of cultural value: from the twenties to the sixties many youth camps were organised here that involved political education and development. A perfect location, in other words, for our annual Training Weekend!
