Message Jamaica's premier knockout football competition, the FLOW Champions Cup is back and has been extremely exciting so far. We are pleased at the standard of play, competitiveness, passion for the game and sportsmanship that has been on display. Our sponsorship of this competition represents one of our many commitments to the economic and social development through sports in communities across Jamaica. We are proud to have been able to integrate new elements into the 2013 season. This year (26) teams made up of (14) Parish Knockout Champions and (12) Premier League Teams, compete for $2.3 million in cash prizes and the prestigious FLOW Cup. Through our partnership with ESPN, we staged the first Football Master Class for strikers and goalkeepers. Under the expert tutelage of the 1998 World Cup stars Robbie Earle and Aaron Lawrence, the master class was designed to enable the continued development of local player skills and attitude to the game, and we look forward to continuing this legacy in the future. Thank you to our partners, the fans, clubs, the PFAJ and the JFF for joining with us to make this one of the most thrilling seasons of the FLOW Champions Cup.

Messages The Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA) and the Professional Football Association of Jamaica (PFAJ) welcomes the return of the all island football knockout competition under the sponsorship of FLOW. Now that the competition is underway the turnout of spectators can be seen as a testimony to the popularity of the competition. The timeliness of the competition at the early stage of the season brings energy to football at a time when there is usually a doldrum before the league activity reaches a pitch of excitement.

I want to express the Jamaica Football Federation's appreciation to FLOW for its support for the re-start of the annual knockout competition. The JFF is aware of the commitment expressed when corporate entities like FLOW dedicate resources, personnel and time to these competitions. The knockout competition in any football calendar brings excitement and great fan involvement. Most importantly, it provides more experience and playing time, in our calendar, to not only our premier league players but our parish teams. All this is good for exposure for the players and the popularity of the game. I wish to congratulate all participating teams and in particular the four teams reaching the semi-finals. We always tell our players at all levels, give of your professional best. We are entering another phase of our programme and eyes are on you.

Congratulations to FLOW for a timely presence in the football arena.

I wish to encourage Flow to continue and indeed increase its sponsorship. JFF commits to continue its support through the PFAJ for the success of this important competition.

Hon. Edward Seaga

FLOW/ESPN Football Master Class raises levels of strikers and goalkeepers through expert coaching. Coaches, goalkeepers, and strikers representing each of the 26 FCC participating teams were the beneficiaries of a world-class training session to kick off the 2013 season of the competition. ESPN commentator and former Reggae Boy Robbie Earle, was joined by former national goalkeeper Aaron Lawrence and Andre Virtue to deliver training to sharpen the skills of the players. "Today was all about improving technique, so by incorporating both coaches and players in the same training session you are able to single out what needs to be done to increase the goals being scored in the competition." Junior Francis, Assistant Head Coach – Waterhouse FC

"This master class model is definitely another big step towards supporting the growth and development of local football players and by extension the sport. Goal scoring is an area that needs attention, and so I was happy that I was able to work with the coaches and strikers on improving this skill. Robbie Earle

"Today demonstrated FLOW and ESPN's continued commitment to sports development in Jamaica. As a result of the success achieved here today, we will definitely be looking at ways in which we can reach more players through this football programme. Nicole Campbell, CSR Specialist - FLOW

FEEDING FRENZY IN FLOW CHAMPIONS CUP SEMI FINALS. When Black Stars pummelled Logwood 7-1 in the first round, some may have harboured thoughts of a minnow swimming with the big fish come crunch time. Those thoughts quickly dissipated when Black Stars were themselves outclassed by Sporting Central the following week. The appetizer is finished. We are getting ready for the final four and only the local sharks are left to participate in the feeding frenzy. In the semi-finals, a double-header football event, it’s Arnett Gardens versus the last team to win the trophy, Tivoli Gardens in the opener and then Harbour View against Waterhouse. All four of these teams were part of the elite six who were handed a bye in the first round. They watched from the sidelines as the lesser lights sliced and diced each other. Axum from St. Mary were the last of the ambitious parish teams to go out, losing 0-4 to Arnett Gardens in the quarterfinals. Any one of the big four is capable of getting to the final and eventually winning the title. There is not much between them. This makes for a pair of enthralling encounters where no quarters will be asked and none will be given. There are no secrets between Harbour View and Waterhouse. They love to beat up on each other. A lot of quality on both sides. The other game is potentially more gripping. The political and sporting history is long and formerly toxic. For many years they did not accommodate each other on their home grounds. It was that divisive. Now it’s not like that but they hate to lose to each other. There is a lot of pride involved and it shows in the football they play. This makes for great entertainment. Let the games begin!

TOP GOAL SCORERS ROMARIO CAMPBELL

HUGGARTH NUGENT

Known from his early days as 'RumRum', a standout goalscorer in the Harbour View FC Under 13 Champion Team, the little maestro has steadily grown up to be invited to multiple Reggae Boyz U17, U20, U23 and Senior Teams over the last decade, winning many trophies, titles and admiration as a creative midfielder with skills, flair and class.

The young 20 year old is on a mission to make his name at Sporting Central Academy. His transfer from Jamalco FC in Clarendon came after three successful years at the parish level. He wants to be known for goal scoring performances in the first appearance at the Premier League outfit, ahead of his 21st birthday on Wednesday, October 30th, 2013.

His first season at new club Waterhouse FC has started brightly with him notching three goals. This positions him as a leading goal scorer for the 2013 season of the Flow Champions Cup. He was invited to join the Winfred Schafer Reggae Boyz Senior squad with special attention to physical preparation.

Huggarth graduated from Kemps Hill where he played Dacosta Cup football. He then switched to Vere Technical for 6th form before joining Jamalco. The bright eyed Clarendonian seeks to claim the Top Goal Scorer prize and follow in the footsteps of local idol, Jevaughn Watson and become as big as Wayne Rooney someday. He has set himself the target of scoring 12 goals this season to secure the top prize.

Romario has once again caught the eyes of the football pundits. It is his time to shine.

AXUM FOOTBALL CLUB Axum has the distinction of being the only Parish Championship team to advance to the Quarter Finals of the 2013 Flow Champions Cup. In 1997, youngsters from Annotto Bay and surrounding communities came together to form the Axum Football Club. They did so well in Division Two competition they gained immediate promotion to Division One. Not resting on their laurels, they repeated the promotion feat within the parish and advanced to the Super League in 1999-2000 season, where they played for two years. Over the years the team has participated in the Super League, the Major League and The 'A' League. However, despite the best efforts Axum never progressed to the Premier League, although coming close a couple of times losing narrowly to Volvo of St. Ann at the Confed Level. Manager Derrick Brown; Assistant Manager Marvin Bardosingh and current Coach Keith Lattimore work very hard to develop the young players. The club remains challenged by lack of funding and relies on local small businesses, friends and the club executives who dig deep into small pockets to enable the club to compete islandwide. Reaching the FLOW Champions Cup Quarterfinal is a big boost the Axum FC team as they look forward to the parish knockout and League competition on October 28. Axum FC remains focused on returning to the 2014 Flow Champions Cup to once again impress and succeed.
