During my formation as an architecture student in Central University of Chile, I have emphasized on having a critical stand in front of the growing trend of social development and the environment. Thus, each developed project response to approaches and looks that I was acquiring as a student in investigation and technical development, which are essential parts for society, culture and innovation. My greatest abilities are investigation and technical development. These abilities helped me to found new running projects and proposed from nowadays, which response to problems like water shortages, drought and problems with private enterprise and the use of hydraulic energy from the South to Center of Chile. This national contingency problem, it’s part of these days and is growing during oil demand. However, low production of fuels in the country, requires projects that could exploit new energetic resources, which is one of my biggest interests. This is the motive why I want to live this experience; it’s an opportunity to acquire new abilities, to get a better development through observation and investigation from actual new projects. It’s in KPF where I think that I can show my commitment, pro-activity and discipline with the purpose of to learn and be part of a team work, achieving to unfold my personal aspirations in great scale developing projects, sustainable strategies and technology innovation. It’s in KPF where I hope to acquire the knowledge with an international vision about architecture projects. This way, I hope to contribute, be a strategist and a change agent in the architecture progress. And thus, not just to have an influence in immediate society, but through the knowledge acquired, have an impact in Chilean societies and in the world.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE KPF
Durante mi formación como estudiante de arquitectura en la Universidad Central de Chile, me he enfatizado en tener una postura crítica ante la emergente tendencia que se tiene del desarrollo de sociedades y su entorno. Por ende, cada proyecto desarrollado, responde a los enfoques y miradas que fui adquiriendo como estudiante en la investigación y el desarrollo técnico, los cuales son partes esenciales para la sociedad, cultura e innovación. La investigación y el desarrollo técnico son las habilidades más avanzadas que poseo. Éstas me han llevado a encontrarme con nuevos proyectos que se ejecutan y se proponen hoy en día, los cuales responden a problemáticas como la escasez de agua, las sequías y conflictos con la empresa privada y el uso de la energía hidráulica en el Sur y Centro de Chile. Este problema de contingencia nacional, se vive en la actualidad y va creciendo a medida que aumentan las demandas de petróleo. Sin embargo, la baja producción de estos combustibles en el país, requieren de proyectos que exploten nuevas fuentes energéticas, que es uno de mis grandes intereses. Este es el motivo, por el cual, vivir de esta experiencia es una oportunidad para adquirir nuevas habilidades, lograr un desarrollo mayor a través de la observación y la investigación de los proyectos que se ejecutan en la actualidad. Es en KPF donde creo poder demostrar mi compromiso, pro-actividad y disciplina con la finalidad de aprender y participar del equipo de trabajo, logrando desenvolver mis aspiraciones en el desarrollo de proyectos de gran escala, estrategias de sustentabilidad e innovación tecnológica. Es en KPF donde espero adquirir el conocimiento con visión internacional sobre el desarrollo de proyectos de arquitectura. De esta manera, espero ser un aporte, un estratega y un agente de cambio en el progreso de la arquitectura. Y, por lo tanto, no solo influir sobre la sociedad inmediata, sino que a través de los conocimientos adquiridos, repercutir en las sociedades que componen Chile y el mundo.

Exercises: EXPLORING PLACE AND PROGRAM. Level: 1st Semester. The project location should be inserted within the geographical boundaries of Almagro Park. Watching terrain data, we can meet a central axis that runs from San Diego, so the project is located in the axis. It torns to a solution that disrupts the essence of the park and try to become of Sacramentinos Church address.

La ubicación del proyecto, debía insertarse dentro de los limites geográficos del Parque Almagro. Al ver los datos del terreno es posible encontrarnos con un eje central que abarca desde San Diego, por lo que el proyecto situado en ese eje. Se torna a una solución que interrumpe la esencia del parque e intenta ser parte de la dirección que genera la Iglesia de los Sacramentinos.

Professor: Allfonso Raposo Exercises: SHOWROOM AND TOURS. Level: 1st Semester.
London Memorial 38, it’s an intervention into the house of torture, used in the Military Coup regime, which occurred on September 11th, 1973. This proposal seeks to reflect through its mosaic the names of people who were tortured in the place, so the formality responds to a logic in showroom and tours, taking into account the condition of ritual and memorial. Memorial Londres 38, es una intervención a la casa de torturas, utilizada en el régimen del Golpe Militar, ocurrido el 11 de septiembre de 1973. Esta propuesta intenta reflejar a través de su mosaico los nombres de las personas que fueron torturadas en el lugar, por lo que la formalidad responde a una lógica de sala de exposiciones y recorridos, teniendo en cuenta la condición de memorial y ritual.

The Community Center, is located across Zenteno street, part of Almagro Hood neighborhood center, responds to the need of involve the group participation. In this case the proposal realizes a central place, where exist the ability to connect all campuses and its different programs; It’s a citizen meeting place.

El Centro Comunitario, ubicado en la calle Zenteno, parte del centro vecinal del Barrio Almagro, responde a la necesidad de la participación en conjunto. En este caso la propuesta da cuenta de un lugar central, en donde exista la capacidad de conectar todos los recintos y sus diferentes programas; es un lugar de encuentro del ciudadano .

Professor: Allfonso Raposo Exercises: HOUSE FOR A FISHERMAN Level: 2nd Semester.
The location of the boat house project is developed in Aculeo Lagoon northern edge. The proposal realizes direct intervention with lake and coast where exist direct proximity between the fisherman and his activity, it’s designed that the pot is inserted into the lagoon access, being a supplement between the place of work and rest.
La ubicación del proyecto casa bote, se desarrolla en el borde norte de la Laguna de Aculeo. La propuesta da cuenta de una intervención directa con el lago y su costa, donde la proximidad entre el pescador y su actividad es directa, ya que está pensada para que el bote esté inserto dentro del acceso por la laguna, siendo un complemento entre el lugar de trabajo y descanso. The emphasis is given to the site and program, directing design to habitability in places, user activities and its relationship with the territory.

Professor: Javier Bize Exercises: RESEARCH CENTER Level: 1st Semester.
The research center is located in the Mahuida Park in La Reina district, Santiago, Chile. The function of this center is a welcoming place for scientists, analysts and students, to develop their projects together. It’s a retirement complex for occasional time where they have the opportunity to make a research for a certain time. Center complexity, realize a higher level in the project development, in terms of what was already done in Workshop I and II.
El centro de investigación está ubicado en el Parque Mahuida, en la comuna de la Reina, Santiago Chile. La función de este centro, es un lugar de acogida para científicos, analistas o estudiantes, para desarrollar sus proyectos en conjunto. Es un complejo de retiro por un tiempo esporádico, donde tienen la posibilidad de realizar una investigación por un tiempo determinado.
CONSTRUCTION DETAIL
La complejidad del centro, da cuenta de un nivel superior en el desarrollo de proyecto, en cuanto a lo que ya se había realizado en taller I y II.

CONCEPT, LIGHTNESS
Level: 2nd Semester. The art exhibition center, it’s a morphological exercise, that pretends to be an intension of a speculative architecture as a concept. This concept is the lightness, so the main way that rises within the set, it’s a heavy and tough stone member, but in a proper slope, makes this language that breaks the established scheme as something that breaks the flatness, being a hit in the search of a suspended element. El centro de exposición de arte, es un ejercicio morfológico, que pretende ser una intensión de una arquitectura especulativa en cuanto a un concepto. Este concepto es la levedad, por lo que, la forma principal que se eleva dentro del conjunto, es un elemento pétreo y duro, pero que un una inclinación adecuada, toma este lenguaje que rompe el esquema de lo establecido como algo que rompe la horizontalidad, siendo este un acierto a la búsqueda de un elemento suspendido.

DIRECT CONTEXT
Exercises: URBAN LIVING INTERSTICES Level: 1st Semester.
A look to the re-densification of Santiago city, in presented scenario by the city to their chances of densification, It propose to analyze one of possible alternatives that provide certain urban spaces for housing, under the guidance of inhabiting those spaces apparently residual interwoven into the fabric of the city. The proposal consist in tie galleries from inside, through ceilings activating public space to these areas without use.

Una mirada a la re-densificación de la ciudad de Santiago, en el escenario que presenta la ciudad a sus posibilidades de densificación, se propone analizar una de las alternativas posibles que brindan ciertos espacios urbanos para la vivienda, bajo la directriz de habitar aquellos espacios aparentemente residuales que existe entrelazados en la estructura de la ciudad. La propuesta consiste en el amarre desde el interior de las galerías, a través de los techos activando el traspaso del espacio publico a estas zonas sin uso.

The most relevant points based on the project development, is the importance of the program. This community center it’s focused on meeting and residents spreading of Playa Ancha town, located in Valparaiso, Chile, is the focal point, where it develops everyday learning group.
Los puntos más relevantes en función del desarrollo proyectual, es la importancia que tiene el programa. Este centro comunitario, enfocado a la reunión y esparcimiento de los pobladores de la localidad de Playa Ancha, ubicada en Valparaiso, Chile, es el punto central , en donde se desarrolla lo cotidiano con el aprender en conjunto.

STATION SOUTH ACCESS INTERCITY BUSES

The main strategy that the workshop proceeds, it’s to find a structural type, depending on the program that requires an intermodal station. The South Access Intermodal Station project is based on the principle of modulation pillars that run the project from underground levels, resulting in ultimately pillared tree system, tubular and made of steel, in order to save more light and generate an interior for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
La principal estrategia que se avoca el taller, es poder buscar una tipología estructural, en función del programa que requiere una estación intermodal. El proyecto Estación Intermodal Acceso Sur, se basa en el principio de la modulación de pilares que recorren el proyecto desde los niveles subterráneos, dando como en ultima instancia un sistema de pilares árbol, tubulares y de acero, con la finalidad de salvar mayor luz y generar una interioridad para el transito peatonal como vehicular.

Palma, Sánchez. Exercises: URBAN DESIGN
Level: 2nd Semester. The project it’s within margins of a proposal to select a contiguous district to Santiago district, in this case Pedro Aguirre Cerda, where social inclusiveness projects with a participatory urban design are developed, both in terms of sustainable and economic strategies. Civic center it’s a proposal that triggers the abandonment of ex-Ochagavia hospital, in order to deliver a new space to segregated district by history and by their poor urban approach.
El proyecto se desarrolla dentro de los márgenes de una propuesta que active una comuna contigua a la de la comuna de Santiago, en este caso Pedro Aguirre Cerda, donde se desarrollan proyectos sociales de carácter integrador con un diseño urbano participativo, tanto a nivel de estrategias sustentables como económicas. El centro cívico y de producción, es una propuesta que activa el abandono del ex hospital Ochagavia, con la finalidad de entregar un nuevo espacio a una comuna segregada por la historia y por su mal planteamiento urbano.

Los Talleres IX-X son un complemento de las temáticas de los talleres ya realizados y se representan en un anteproyecto a nivel profesional en el área urbana, desarrollándose desde la etapa de la observación hasta la materialización del mismo en el desarrollo planimétrico.

Exercises: URBAN DESIGN AND PROGRAM. Level: 2nd Semester.
The purpose of this initiative is the creation of a master plan for Manuel Bulnes President Hall and its surroundings, located in the heart of Santiago district in Santiago city of Chile. It seeks to consolidate the neighboring axes to Bulnes Axis revitalizing public space through policy changes and sustainable strategies. It’s also a search for a possible top shaft Bulnes, being this its proposal.
El propósito de esta iniciativa es la generación de un plan maestro para el Paseo Presidente Manuel Bulnes y su entorno, ubicado en el corazón con la comuna de Santiago, de la ciudad de Santiago de Chile. Se busca consolidar los ejes aledaños al Eje Bulnes revitalizando el espacio público a través de cambios normativos y estrategias sustentables. También se hace una búsqueda de un posible remate del eje Bulnes, siendo este su propuesta.

The final part that converges to a guideline marked by Sacramentinos Basilica axis, it’s one of the principal Project approaches of the "Cube" insert within in an urban design strategy regarding the completion of Bulnes top shaft. CIRCULATION
La pieza de remate que converge a una directriz marcada por el eje de la Basílica de los Sacramentinos, es unos los principales enfoques proyectuales del “Cubo” inserto dentro de una estrategia de diseño urbano en cuanto a la culminación del eje Bulnes.

Exercises: URBAN DESIGN AND PROGRAM. Level: 1st Semester. PUBLIC ARCHITECTURE self-sustaining The "urban sustainability" concept or "sustainable urban development", was signed by Chile after his participation in HABITAT II Convention in 1996, where it is understood that there is no development if there is no environmental improvements and are reflected in life quality of all citizens. This concept requires consideration of a planned and integral system where city building is not only designed for today's society, but also to ensure and improve the habitat for future generations. ARQUITECTURA PUBLICA AUTOSUSTENTABLE
El concepto de “Sustentabilidad urbana” o “Desarrollo urbano sustentable”, fue suscrito por Chile tras su participación en la Convención en HABITAT II, 1996, donde se entiende que no hay desarrollo si no hay mejoras ambientales que se reflejen en la calidad de vida de todos los ciudadanos. Este concepto obliga a considerar un sistema planificado y solidario, donde la construcción de ciudad no sólo esté pensada para la sociedad actual, sino además, para asegurar y mejorar las condiciones de hábitat para las generaciones futuras.

RETURNING EMPTY CITY Zenteno axis, is one way of programmatic connection parallel to Bulnes axis, which encourages its remodeling in the south. Diagnosis indicates that Zenteno axis, in this area, presents a functional, physical and economic obsolescence condition, so that a strategy for institutional renewal would help to business in the area.
El eje Zenteno, es una de las vías de conexión programática paralelas al eje Bulnes, la cual se incentiva a su remodelación en la zona sur. El diagnostico indica que el eje Zenteno , en esta zona, presenta una condición de obsolescencia funcional, física y económica, por lo que una estrategia de renovación institucional ayudaría a la actividad de la zona.
