PASEO DE LAS DAMAS Waterfront proposal in the Victor Rojas Plaza

18°28'21.55"N 66°42'42.10"W

The proposal for the new Paseo de las Damas at the end of the Gonzalo Marín st., strived to retain the original look of the old plaza of Victor Rojas which had a connection through a wide staircase that ended in the riverbank. Today, many fisherman enjoy the small space left of the shore after the town inserted vehicle roads. By extending again the staircase into the water and making new pedestrian walkways in the waterfront and open public spaces, it integrates better with the existent plaza and makes for a great ending park for a more walkable city.

This project explored an object or artifact with real materials where the attributes and qualities of the materials are explored: features such as opacity, transparency or translucency are investigated, plus textures, stiffness and flexibility. The light object dialogues with the Aalto Vase of the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto (1898-1976), in the shape and flexibility of wood. The lamp has an acrilic frame that supports an outer

The Hato Rey Veterinary Clinic is located in the heart of the business sector of San Juan on a very centric and vegetated lot in the city. The concept for the clinic arises from the anatomy and movement of the snake wich reflect on the building’s shapes, paths and connections. The form also ROOSEVELT TRAIN STATION

The Banyan sculptural staircase is located between the garden’s largest pond of the Rio Piedras Botanical Garden, The Fountain of the Three Basins and the Sculpture Garden that sits atop a 7 meter (24 feet) high slope. To connect both areas surges a sculptural staircase; its form inspired by the entwining of the Banyan tree roots that forgather around the

The BOTLAB UPR is conceived as an educational center for scientific research and sociocultural activities. The garden and the building are a living laboratory for the study of tropical plants and many species of birds that inhabit the park. It is also an area of recreation and entertainment for its visitors. The building defines a new pedestrian circulation and creates a direct relationship between public and private spaces; it begins and ends in public places of interest, as are the museum and the library. In addition, it shows the binding of spaces by varying levels and transparency. The building
