Before purchasing, please keep in mind that here will be an unusable portion of hide due to varying sizes and irregularity of shape in hide. Approximate embossed hide size is 45 square feet. All SKUs are sold in full hide increments only. FINISHING / PLATING All S.Harris embossed leathers are finished with a protective top coat. The top coat “seals” the leather and protects against color transfer (crocking). Embossed leathers have been stamped with steel engraved. Regular plates are used to emboss the leather with dimensions ranging in sizes between 26”-29” high by 48”-54” wide. The average hide size is 45 square feet. Registration marks where the plating matches up are called joint marks. They occur every 26”-29” vertically depending on the plate. Joint marks may be visible on some patterns, particularly in geometric patterns.
LEATHER CARE AND CLEANING With normal use, our leather requires almost no care. In order to maintain the natural look of leather, simply dust with a dry cloth. Do NOT use polish or cleaners. Do not wash in washing machine or dry clean. Always allow the hide to air dry. Never dry with a hair dryer. Cleaning chemicals should not be used. If needed, we suggest using a vacuum’s soft brush attachment for dust and dirt particles. For extreme staining, we recommend a local leather cleaning specialist. Never use cleaning solvents, furniture polish, oils, varnish, abrasive cleaners, ammonia water or soap with a detergent base.
