Fachjan, 3 generations Three generations who are surrounded by top quality greenery every day, with passion. Together with a group of experts dedicated to their profession. That is Fachjan, with 57,000 m2 of greenhouses full of tropical and subtropical plants, flowering and fruit-bearing trees and shrubs from 10 cm to 14 metres tall. We can always be found at suppliers’ nurseries all over the world, consulting with architects and landscapers, and at clients’ premises on virtually all continents. Thanks to more than fifty years experience in the midst of the international greenery sector, we know exactly what we’re doing. We enjoy sharing that expertise. Environment Fachjan grows his plants in an environmentally friendly way. This includes optimal use of fuel and fertilizers and an integrated use of crop protection agents. All our environmentally friendly breeding activities are in accordance with Dutch environmental legislation. After the construction of the new energyefficient greenhouse, Fachjan received the ‘Green label’ certificate for the environment.

Fachjan thinks about the environment and uses geothermal energy to heat the greenhouses Geothermal energy is energy that is extracted from the earth’s crust. The core of our earth is extremely hot (2,000 to 10,000 ˚C). This heat flows through conduction (convection) to the crust of the earth. This energy supply is virtually inexhaustible and therefore very sustainable and environmentally friendly. The heat of this water is utilized via heat exchangers to heat the greenhouses at Fachjan. This project saves a lot of natural gas per year and reduces CO2 emissions. This means that the products are grown sustainably and it contributes strongly to a cleaner and healthier future. Fachjan has already significantly reduced gas consumption in recent years. Fachjan expects to further reduce gas consumption by an additional 80% through Geothermal energy.
Fachjan and sustainability: Solar panels on the roof. Fachjan is taking more and more steps to work climate-neutral. Solar panels have been placed on the roof of the warehouse and quarantine rooms for a next step in making the company more sustainable. In total, 270 solar panels have been installed. They will provide the largest part of the electricity supply.

Gondwanaland, Zoo Leipzig Fachjan has supplied a large number of plants for the ‘Gondwanaland’ project at the Leipzig Zoo (D). This large tropical hall is an architectural masterpiece and covers an area of approximately 17,000 m2. More than 500 plant species have been supplied up to a height of 13 meters. The heaviest plant was almost 6000 kilos. A unique project.

It also includes the agreements of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). Fachjan therefore complies with the (inter)national requirements in the field of safety and health. MPS number 600636, issued on 12 June 2014. The European Water park Association represents the interests of European swimming pools, spas and water parks. Fachjan and the other members of the EWA meet regularly to exchange experiences at the international level.
