Entries for the CCA Jersey Summer Exhibition are open and this year we’re getting involved with a new Gallery Magazine- sponsored prize.

CCA Galleries International are inviting visual artists to apply to take part in the Jersey Summer Exhibition 2023. The exhibition is based on the model at the Royal Academy Summer Show each year. Exhibits are selected by a panel of professional artists and shown in a group exhibition and all artwork will be for sale.

The gallery is known for its longstanding relationships with internationally renowned artists such as Sir Peter Blake, Dan Baldwin and Bruce Mclean, and worked with some of the foremost artists in British Twentieth Century art, Terry Frost, Sandra Blow and Donald Hamilton Fraser. Since opening in 2013 CCA Galleries International has made work by these artists and many more available to the Jersey audience through the sale of limited-edition prints, original works, artist discussions and workshops.

Now in its 7th year, the Jersey Summer Exhibition continues to be the highlight of the cultural calendar in Jersey and drives the standard of artwork being made. Having work exhibited at CCA Galleries International has helped launch the careers of promising Jersey artists, as well as enforcing that of those already established. The exhibition is open to emerging and established artists alike and the gallery encourages applications from artists in every stage in their career. Artists working in all mediums are invited to apply through CCA INternational’s website with applications open from Wednesday 1st February with the deadline falling on Friday 31st March.

Judges Panel

The Panel of judges for the 2023 will be announced shortly.

Each year

CCA Galleries International invites a guest panel of professional artists to join the judging panel for the Jersey Summer Exhibition. These are artists of international acclaim who use their years’ of experience and knowledge to carefully deliberate the artworks selected for exhibition.

The 2022 Jersey Summer Exhibition judges were sculptor and fashion designer Nicole Farhi and Turner Prize nominees artists The Wilson Sisters (Janae and Louise Wilson).

The application deadline is Friday 31 March. All work should be submitted online via the application form (£20 per artwork submitted). Work that is chosen to join the Summer Exhibition will be exhibited and for sale in the gallery 16 June – 25 July.

The Summer Prize

As well as making the final selection for the show, the selection panel also judge the Summer Prize. The winner of the Summer Prize is offered a solo show at the gallery. The prize is awarded to the artist who the judges agree exhibited the most accomplished piece of work. 2022 saw a tied First Prize go to painter Debbie Crane and mixed-media artist Rachel Ara and runner up was painter Tim Le Breuilly.

NEW RBC Emerging Artist prize

CCA are excited to introduce the Summer Prize and RBC Emerging Artist prize for 2023. This is a grant of £1,000 given by exhibition sponsor RBC in connection with the Summer Prize to the winner to further the artist’s pursuit of their work. CCA Galleries International has championed the work of Jersey artists and helped promote and exhibit those in every stage of their career. With the generous prize money from exhibition sponsor RBC, CCA look forward to presenting the joint Summer Prize and RBC Emerging Artist prize in July 2023. RBC has been a long-term supporter of the arts and its Emerging Artists Project partners with organisations that provide the best opportunity to advance artists’ careers across art genres.

All visual art forms are welcome, including original prints, paintings, drawings, sculpture, film and photography. CCAI accept applications from artists with links to the island who may be working elsewhere as well as Channel Island artists. The gallery offers advice on framing and pricing to successful applicants as needed.

NEW Gallery Magazine Graphics Arts Prize

For 2023’s Summer exhibition, we’re joining CCA in pursuit of creative talent, adding a new prize for graphic designers and illustrators with a unique creative style. The Gallery Magazine Graphic Arts prize is open to students and individuals working in graphic art with a £250 prize for both a unique graphic print design and one for a unique illustration. We’ll be featuring both winners in a future edition.
