What Is Photojournalistic Wedding Photography?

Telling your true wedding story - that is what wedding photojournalism is really about - by discreetly capturing all of the genuine, heartfelt and beautiful moments that you want to hold onto forever. Think of it as an undirected and unposed visual narrative of your day. A narrative that is told through beautiful, authentic imagery that should transport you straight back in time, to relive those incredible moments all over again.

I love capturing weddings in this style, it has been the most rewarding work that I have ever done and I’ve now shot hundreds of weddings throughout Jersey, UK and Europe.

Authenticity is key - I prefer not to encourage a photo list, nor work to a template - I take a natural and personal approach to capture the visual story of your whole day. From the intimate and small details whilst getting ready; holding back the emotion as you walk down the aisle before you catch each other’s eyes for the first time, or the behind the scenes kiss, as the reception and party draws to a close.

But are there ever times during the day when I think your photographer should give a bit of direction? The honest answer to that is yes, but only in very limited circumstances. Like after the ceremony if you want to disappear from the crowd for some romantic portraits together, but you feel awkward in front of the camera - I will just encourage you to be yourselves and let your personalities shine through, as it can make a massive difference to the end result. But other than the bridal portraits and a few family group shots, I think it’s so important to just let the day flow. I like to stay close to the action, but discreetly and unobtrusively, ready to capture every part of your beautiful day.

Wedding jewellery

How incredible would these look on your wedding day? Aurum’s Brigitte Adolph Lace Jewellery range is created by Brigitte in Germany. She studied at the very same goldsmithing school that Julie Blampied attended in Pforzheim, in the Black Forest. Her delicately beautiful creations appear at first glance to be made from lace fabric but closer inspection reveals finely detailed work in silver. The patterns are inspired by the lace from her own wedding dress and some of the pieces are embellished with softly romantic pearl accents.
