NEW PRODUCT SHOWCASE
New Product Showcase The Art Spot Booth: 1037
Chartpak, Inc. Booth: 711
Premium quality, ready-to-paint PreSketches and Art Kits
Schmincke Medium W
Our professional quality PreSketches are lightly sketched, ready-to-paint art boards for use with both dry and wet media. Designed for aspiring artists and hobbyists, the PreSketches can be completed at schools, parties, camps, college dorms, community centers, resorts and at home, or used for corporate team-building events. They come with step-by-step instructions and are available in 3 sizes and 3 surfaces. Also available in kits that include all the premium quality supplies needed to finish the artwork. Our catalog features more than 100 pictures to paint. New ones are being added regularly. Our PreSketches can boost your sales, thanks to their instructions that recommend supplies already found on your shelves.
Medium W is a solvent free, low odor alternative to oil painting. It makes ANY oil paint water mixable. Using two parts oil color and one part Medium W, oil paint rinses cleanly off of brushes and painting tools with water, eliminating the need for solvents. Medium W can be used as a brush cleaner for traditional oils. Simply wipe away excess oil paint from the brush, dip it directly into Medium W, then swish it in clean water. Final cleanup can be done with soap and water. Medium W is compatible with all oil colors and most oil mediums such as stand and linseed oils, oil transparentizers and megilp. Available in three sizes: 60ml, 200ml and 1 liter.
Artists Line LLC Booth: 135 Brush Line Hanger This innovative product positions brushes with their bristles down to prevent the paint/paint medium from flowing towards the ferrule. It preverves the brushes’ shape and prolongs their life span. The hanger helps artists concentrate while painting by providing an easy and effortless way to select and change brushes. The Brush Line can be attached to an easel or canvas frame (large or small) without disturbing the front of the canvas. Or, use the larger version that holds up to 120 brushes and attaches to the table. The flexible Brush Tail for hanging can be attached with ease to any size brush. Patent pending.
Atlantic Papers Booth: 1018 PastellFix Pad Developed especially for pastels, 170 g/m2 Hahnemuhle PastellFix Paper is also perfect for oil pastel, pencil, sanquine or charcoal works. The pastel painting pad contains two sheets of each of the following colors: ivory, sand, navy, steel grey, dark grey and black. The different shades are protected by transparent dividers. The acid free paper has a 45% cotton rag content and is felt marked.
BrilliArt, LLC Booth: 1034 Alcohol Based Dual Tips Marker Ideal for fine art, design, illustration, paper crafting and more. The dual tips are a 5MM chisel tip and a flexible brush tip. There are 170 brilliant and vivid colors available, and the color consistency is guaranteed. The edible alcohol based inks are permanent and archival, acid-free, nontoxic, odor free and toner compatible for easy and smooth blending. Refillable.
Premium Aquarelle Pencils Available in 120 brilliant colors that are fully water soluable and turn to paint. With high-quality pigments, they offer a rich and smooth laydown, good saturation, and easy blending and shading. The pencils are breakage resistant, and have 4MM extra-thick and soft leads. Guaranteed color consistency and fade resistance.
C2F, Inc. Densely packed ferrules allow a continuous and smooth flow with a tremendous amount of paint over rough surfaces. The bristle strength ensures good fill between cracks.
Encaustic-Hot Wax Brushes Bristle brushes on natural wood handle made with components that withstand high temperatures used for encaustic painting. Unique brush shapes and patented designs are ideal for creating distinctive effects.
Gamblin Artists Colors Co. Booth: 719 Gamblin Solvent-Free Fluid Medium and Gamblin Safflower Oil: More possibilities. Less compromise. Based on the popularity of its Solvent-Free Gel, Gamblin has broadened its offering of solvent-free materials. Solvent-Free Fluid painting medium readily increases the flow of oil colors and has a moderate drying rate. Honorees Frank Stapleton to be Inducted into Hall of Fame
Jack Klein, Lynn Klein and her sister Nora Hackenberg of Artist and Display Supply, Inc. will receive the NAMTA 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. Their familyrun store started in Milwaukee in 1936 selling materials for decorating store windows and movie houses. In 1965 the business shifted its emphasis to art supplies. It sold products to Milwaukee printing firms, college art programs and companies that had their own advertising departments. The store also specialized in quality materials for the individual artist, which remained the focus of the business. Jack, Lynn and Nora will receive their awards at the General Session on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the Capitol Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency.
HONOREES
Frank Stapleton of MacPherson’s will be inducted into the NAMTA Hall of Fame at the General Session on Wednesday, April 15, in the Capitol Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency. Frank joined MacPherson’s and the art material business in 1972. He has been president of MacPherson’s since 1978. Frank remembers working summers for his father beginning at age six, but didn’t take the business seriously until he was 21. After attending Reed College and U.C. Berkeley, and working various jobs including on tramp steamers sailing the high seas, he took his father up on an offer to temporarily “fill in” a sales territory. This “temporary” assignment has lasted nearly a lifetime! In his time, he has moved MacPherson’s forward into a nationwide company that is consistently first in offering the best and most innovative products and services to a core of customers who represent the best creative supply retailers in the United States. Frank has shaped MacPherson’s to be a constant and evolving value-added resource for art & craft material retailers. The employee owned company’s mission is for each team member as an owner of MacPherson’s to contribute to its customers’ greater business success. Frank served two terms (1999 and 2007) as a director of NAMTA because he firmly believes that our trade association makes a significant difference for the vitality and health of our industry.

EDUCATION
Speaker: George O’Hanlon It’s not often that a brandnew fine art medium comes along. Ceracolors is a new artist-grade paint made from quality pigments in a water-soluble wax binder. Although made from wax, Ceracolors are not encaustic paints in that they do not require heat, solvents or mediums. Ceracolors share properties with traditional media that will make them instantly familiar to painters, but they also have unique characteristics and advantages of their own. When thinned with water, Ceracolors easily disperse to produce vibrant watercolor effects. They can be applied in opaque layers much like acrylic or gouache. Because the paints dry and set quickly, transparent glazes can be built up without long waiting times between layers. Once dry, you can continue to work Ceracolors with only a heat gun – no hot plates, griddles or heated instruments are needed to manipulate the wax paint on the painting surface. There are no hot wax fumes or solvents in the entire painting process. In a finished painting, the colors have a rich, matte appearance and a durable finish. George O’Hanlon, technical director of Natural Pigments, will demonstrate the use of Ceracolors and mediums to promote your business. Sponsor: Natural Pigments

Our commitment to innovation stems from our desire to continually introduce new products that enhance and complement new artistic ideas and aspirations. From developing the first recycled art papers in the 1970’s, to recent developments with Artist Trading Cards, Visual Journals, Mixed Media, Toned Sketch, and a diverse family of Hardbound and Softcover Art Journals, we are always listening to artist’s needs. What new innovations have been inspired for 2014?
