Talisman Adventures Arrives!
The Talisman board game has enchanted generations of players over the years, with every session creating thrilling tales of slaying dragons, stealing enchanted items, and overcoming impossible odds. Plus getting turned into a toad! Now players can create even grander stories with Talisman Adventures, the exciting new tabletop roleplaying game!
Talisman Adventures takes the magical setting of the board game and expands it so that there are no limits to what can happen. The fast-paced and easy to learn rules allow players to quickly create their own unique characters by combining Ancestries such as troll, human, and ghoul with Classes such as thief, priest, and warrior. There’s also plenty of magic and magical items, including (of course) the infamous Toadify spell!
The new 3d6 game system puts players in charge of the action. Whenever a character wants to do something challenging, like attack a monster or cast a spell, their player makes a test by rolling 3 dice – one of which is the special Kismet die. Failure could mean a miss and the enemy immediately attacks; a standard success might mean a spell worked as desired but there’s a drawback. A great success has no drawbacks, and an extraordinary success indicated something awesome happened too, like the attack inflicted extra damage on the target. Special results on the Kismet die can trigger special abilities for a character or an NPC, and generate Fate points which can be spent to reroll dice or even add a die in a test.
Rather than the GM rolling when
NPCs attack, players also roll to defend themselves. This means that players do almost all the rolling and lets encounters move faster, as most of the time a single dice roll incorporates not only an action but also the target’s reaction. The book contains full support for both players and GMs, with Followers to aid the heroes, Enemies to threaten them, and exploration rules that allow everyone to play a role in wilderness adventuring. It also includes a ready-to-use adventure complete with pre-generated characters, maps, and everything else needed to introduce new players to roleplaying and the Talisman setting.
And there’s more to come! There’s a Game Master’s Kit (complete with screen and GM adventure support booklet) and an Accessory Pack of exclusive dice and Fate tokens. Tales of the Dungeon is the first setting book and covers notorious dungeons of the Realm (plus the infamous creatures lurking inside them). It’s filled with new ancestries and classes, gear, traps, expanded underground exploration rules and encounters, and a complete adventure.
Talisman Adventures is a 302-page full color hardback, also available in a deluxe Limited Edition version. Both come with a foldout map of the Realm plus a punchboard sheet of Fate tokens.
