Area Control Meets Trick-Taking
Tidal Blades: Banner Festival
By Bree Goldman, Director of Marketing for Lucky Duck Games
Tidal Blades: Banner Festival is a standalone game of area control, watercraft racing and trick-taking in the beautiful Tidal Blades universe. Play cards simultaneously and aim to be highest, middle, or lowest to get your best outcome from each bout.
Flags of all colors dance in the wind as Navirians converge to Trawl for the longawaited Banner Festival.
Generate the most profits for your trading house by selling goods, befriending the right suppliers, and making bets at the watercraft race. Opportunities abound in the floating market, but only the keenest trader will prevail!
Tidal Blades: Banner Festival is designed by J.B. Howell and Michael Mihealsick with art by Mr. Cuddington and is published by Lucky Duck Games and Druid City Games.
The game is played in a series of bouts, with players simultaneously choosing a card from their hand to play, trying to control regions of the board with banners, collect fruit, and race watercraft to gather Profit (victory points).
Banners Control Regions
When your card comes in the middle of the other players’ cards, you will get to place a banner in the region where the Trade Gate is! Have the most banners in a region at the end of each round to earn the most Profit. You’ll earn a reward from each spot you place a banner in except for the towers. But remember: all banners except the ones in towers are cleared from the board each round!

Fruit Scores Too!
You can collect fruit from banner placement rewards or from card effects. You’ll get to take the action on the bottom of a card when you play the lowest card in a bout. When the fruit in the center of the board runs out, the player with the most fruit scores 1 point per fruit, while everyone else only gets ½ a point per fruit!
The Watercraft Race can be Lucrative
Every time your watercraft passes the starting line, you get to advance your personal cards, which increase in value throughout the game. They also offer rewards for completing stunts by landing on specific spaces. You can earn fruit this way too! Move your watercraft by playing the highest card in a bout, and also through some card effects.
Everyone Does Something
There are lots of ways to earn Profit in Tidal Blades: Banner Festival, which means no matter where you come in the card play, you’ll get to do something every bout. The secret is to plan your cards so you get the best outcome.
Tidal Blades: Banner Festival is a competitive game of area control and trick taking for 1-5 players. It will appeal to gamers who enjoy hand management and simultaneous play, and fans of the Tidal Blades universe. It is available now from all major distributors with an SRP of $39.99.
