A Special Look Behind the Development of the House Of X

Therecent House of X storyline in Marvel Comics has completely changed all of Mutantkind we know it. Vs. System 2PCG players will be thrilled to know that these new conflicts, characters and locations can be experienced in the upcoming Heroes of Krakoa Story Arc.

This story arc includes the GiantSized 200-card Vs. System 2PCG: House of X, as well as the 55-card Vs. System 2PCG: The New Brotherhood and Vs. System 2PCG: X-Force. Product Developer Vito Munoz gives us a special look into development and inspiration behind Vs. System 2PCG: House of X, which will be the first issue of the Heroes of Krakoa Story Arc.

“We wanted to highlight the major events of the House of X and Powers of X storylines by revisiting one of the oldest teams in the game,” said Munoz. “We developed this set to both meet the expectations of the existing player base and act as a new player jump on point featuring the major teams in the Mutant struggle.”

The X-Men Team Affiliation hasn’t

been featured as a primary team in the game since the original base set, Vs. System 2PCG: The Marvel Battles, released seven years ago. We decided now was the best time to reintroduce the X-Men Team Affiliation for a variety of reasons. Notably, the comic storylines of House of X/Powers of X have been very well-received.

It also provided us with an excellent opportunity to pay homage to many updates and changes to both X-Men and Brotherhood teams over the years. All of the stunning card art in this story arc is sourced from the House of X/Powers of X comics, allowing fans of the comic storyline to fully immerse themselves as the Heroes and Villains in the ongoing Mutant world.

Not only does Vs. System 2PCG: House of X return X-Men into the hands of players, it also brings back the first Giant-Sized, 200-card issue since Vs. System 2PCG: The Civil War Battles in 2021. When our product development team started planning and developing our next Giant-Sized issue, they made good use of the greater card count to fully explore everything that the current X-Men storyline has to offer. Vs. System 2PCG: House of X gives prominence to characters from both Charles Xavier’s X-Men and Magneto’s Brotherhood. The second issue, Vs. System 2PCG: The New Brotherhood is a supplementary expansion for Magneto’s Brotherhood, and the third issue, Vs. System 2PCG: X-Force, is a supplementary expansion for Professor X’s newest team.

The Heroes of Krakoa Story Arc, especially the Vs. System 2PCG: House of X, is a perfect issue for new players to jump into Vs. System 2PCG. All three issues bring returning mechanics and keywords, and the Giant-Sized makes an ideal entry point into the trading card game. Experienced and competitive players won’t want to miss House of X either because our upcoming organized play materials and promos will be themed to this issue.
