Medical Marijuana and Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis (also known as M.S.) is a neurological disorder; it is believed to be an autoimmune disease. This means that the body’s immune response is attacking the central nervous system. This results in inflammation of the myelin sheaths that protect the nerves in the brain and spine. Latest estimates show that 1 in every 340 Canadians live with the disease. This puts Canada at the highest rate of M.S. in the world, according to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada1. The disease is mainly diagnosed in young adults but can also be present in children and appear in the elderly later in life. Multiple sclerosis presents itself in a variety of ways.
