USS Delaware (SSN 791) is the newest addition to America's fleet of Virginia-class submarines; the most modern, sophisticated, and technologically advanced submarine in the world. The USS Delaware is the first Navy vessel in nearly a century to be named after the first state to join the Union.
USS Delaware is the 18th Virginia-class fast attack submarine. Designed to meet the Navy’s requirements in a post-Cold War era, the Virginia-class employs advanced technologies to increase firepower, sensors, and stealth. A crew of 136 will man the 377-foot-long submarine, which is capable of submerged speeds of more than 25 knots and can remain submerged for up to three months at a time.
