TWO NEW SUPER PARKS OPEN IN AUGUST

fcarbone@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au

Welcome to the new edition of our quarterly City Connect brochure, delivering important Council news to your letterbox.

2023 is already one of the biggest years yet for Fairfield City as we deliver more exciting projects, services and events for everyone.

This financial year we are investing more than $78 million in infrastructure and will continue with our program of improvements committing more than $32.3 million on upgrades to parks, footpaths and roads throughout our City.

Two key projects opening this month are the significant upgrades to Bareena Park, Canley Vale and Fairfield Heights Park playgrounds thanks to a $4 million grant from the NSW Government. Bareena Park has a one-of-akind large koi fish slide and climbing rope

to go with a ‘water’ theme’ playground, while Fairfield Heights Park’s ‘nature theme’ playground includes a large treehouse, as well as new and accessible play equipment.

We are also currently doing detailed planning for a significant upgrade of Brenan Park, Smithfield, Endeavour Sports Park, Fairfield West and a new fitness park at Avenel Park, Canley Vale.

These projects are important to support the health and wellbeing of all residents. I am committed to getting on with the job of delivering the best services and facilities for the families and businesses of our City.

Households can easily and safely dispose of chemical and electronic waste at Council’s popular FREE Chemical CleanOut and E-waste Collection Day. You can bring household chemicals and items up to a maximum of 20L or 20kg of a single item such as; solvents, gas bottles and pool chemicals, plus old TVs, computers and household appliances.

This day helps families save money in disposal costs, ensures the chemicals and e-waste are disposed of safely, and stops chemicals going to landfill.

Two new all-accessible super parks will be opening this August for families to get outside and active together.

Bareena Park, Canley Vale opens on Saturday, 5 August while Fairfield Heights Park will open later in the month.

Both parks, made possible through joint funding with the NSW Government, add to the super parks we already have, such as Koonoona Park, Deerbush Park and Fairfield Adventure Park. Each of these parks offer something different.

Along with our smaller parks, we are ensuring families, no matter where they live, have acess to a park within walking distance or a short drive.
