Dr. Peter Pronovost ’87 Major: Biology Professor and Critical Care Specialist at Johns Hopkins University

Kristen Record ’99 Major: Physics In June 2010, Kristen, a high school physics teacher in Stratford, CT, was one of 103 pre-collegiate teachers nationwide named by President Barack Obama to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.


My time at Fairfield really cemented my “desire to be in public service, and if there’s

one thing I learned from Fairfield it’s that there is always an opportunity to serve in some capacity.

Steve Shannon ’93 Major: Politics Principal of a Virginia law firm and Adjunct Professor at George Mason Law School. Since graduating from Fairfield (where he served as President of the Fairfield University Student Association), Steve earned a law degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University. He worked as a local prosecutor in Fairfax County, Virginia before being elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2003. Steve served as a state delegate until 2010.
