/C544E5@1#FB33D1#%1GD4#)5HD4# D4#5#IJ5D86#KB2EB@:18L Presently, I have my most rewarding job. I serve as the Suiting Program Manager for Dress for Success River Cities.

One cold, rainy, winter day, Cindy came in for an interview suiting wearing jeans, three sweatshirts and a hoody. Leaving with a suit, blouse and all the accessories, she knew she looked fantastic and was warm in a hooded

coat. No magic wand was necessary to make this beautiful transformation. Dress for Success River Cities is part of a world wide, nonprofit organization. A mission of the organization is to assist disadvantaged women by providing attire, support and the tools to be successful in the world of work. Our clients are women who are taking the necessary steps to improve their individual situations. My responsibilities with Dress for Success includes receiving clothing donations, selecting items appropriate for the women we serve and maintaining an attractive boutique where anyone would enjoy visiting. The best part of my position is helping to increase our client’s self esteem as they reflect on their image in the right clothing for an interview and a job environment. In other words—I take Cinderella and turn her into a woman who is ready for a new start. I am the official FAIRY GODMOTHER!

After working in the central office of the Wake County Public Schools in North Carolina for one academic year, I was

asked to retire. This event in turn provided me the opportunity to apply for Clinical Pastoral Education at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. In September this career change took place. Being a hospital chaplain is one career that offers benefits from the wisdom of longevity and I’ve made enough mistakes to have learned a few lessons enroute to my seventh decade. Presently I am scheduled for 14 hours a week at Rex Hospital. In addition, one night each month, I am on call. When I am not the Chaplain on duty at Rex, I’ll be dancing. On Sunday evenings I go to a synagogue for Israeli dancing.

PSALMS. Thursdays I carpool to Durham, NC with some “neat ladies” for English Country dancing, historic music and figures from the 17th Century and forward. My favorite dance is to the tune of ASH GROVE which I learned to sing in Mrs. Parson’s fourth grade at Jefferson Elementary School in Huntington, WV. Friday nights finds me at the Glen Eden Recreation Center doing International Folk DancingBulgarian, Greek, Macedonian, Armenian, Turkish, Croatian and occasionally a Scottish Reel. My button reads, “Dancing is not a matter of life and death—it’s more important than that”. Life is good!

) ) I was introduced to Yoga in 1972 and have since spent my life in the practice

and study of this ancient art, philosophy and science. In the West, Yoga is practiced mainly as a form of physical exercise. But, historically it is a form of self-development that can be physically, mentally and spiritually beneficial with sustained, dedicated practice. I have had the privilege of studying with many internationally known yogis such as Judith Hanson Lasaker, Rodney Yee, Patrick Weldon and Gary Kraftsow. I have had the opportunity to travel to India to pursue a more in depth understanding of this science. I feel this practice has sustained me in all areas of my life. Yoga has helped me maintain my health and well being for which I am very grateful. I have enjoyed teaching yoga classes in Youngstown, Ohio for approximately 25 years and hope to continue for many years. ! !

Alaska, because of the beautiful panoramic snow-covered mountains, the wild raging rivers, the huge river of flowing ice in the glaciers and the blue glowing “other worldly” shapes of the icebergs. Alaskan wild life includes bald eagles, Kodiak bears,

moose, reindeer, Dali sheep, musk ox, mountain goats and tons of fish. On June 8, 2001, I began to drive to Alaska. I spent about a month driving to Alaska, a month there, and a month coming home. I drove 16, 639 miles in 87 days. The trip north included stops at the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Rock Mountain National Park, Dinosaur National Park, Crazy Horse Monument, Royal Tyrell (Dinosaur) Museum and Dawson City. Sightseeing in Alaska included Anchorage, Denali National Park, Fairbanks, Valdez, Homer, Haines, Skagway, Palmer, two breath taking cruises on Prince William Sound and Kenai Fjords, the Alaskan Sealife Center in Seward, gold rush National Park in Skagway, Mush Ox Ranch in Palmer, Alaskaland in Fairbanks and two hilarious shows, the Whale Fat Follies in Anchorage and Malemute Saloon in Fairbanks. Going to Alaska? Go in July, warmest and driest month. While there enjoy the salmon, halibut and crab legs—the best! )

Update – I took a Greek Island cruise in October, 2009. I will be going to see the polar bears in Churchill on Hudson Bay in October, 2010, cruising to the Canary Islands in November, 2010 and an Eastern Caribbean cruise in February, 2011. Otherwise, my golf game has not improved. So sad!

Since I was so short and he being soooooo tall he picked me up and put me on his shoulders and carried me to the end of the hall to the top of the stairs and just dropped me off. It was so funny everyone around us got a big laugh. I think my best friend Kay Mooring had something to do with that. But I still love them both”;
