Im so excited to introduce the brilliant Fusion Events! Andy and his team has a real passion for light, and bringing the wow factor to your wedding. At Fairytale Dreams: The Wedding Magazine we are proud to work along side Fusion Events and we highly recommend them as a certified and verified member. Please have a read and get to know the real Fusion Events, what inspires and desires them to create and design the wow factor for your day...
Fusion Events Products and Services Myself and the Team I have loved music and lighting all my life. From an early age I pestered for a record player and some vinyl. In my late teens I started a weekly habit of going in to Birmingham and buying records to play in local pubs and clubs. Before I knew it I had thousands of records and a collection of lighting. I had always enjoyed the idea of creating a theme at venues for our nights and being a carpenter helped me engineer these ideas in to a reality. I and the team enjoy working with a blank canvas and putting in our products to create the look and atmosphere people want for their events.
Fusion Events started life as a mobile disco company. We were doing weddings and birthday parties mainly, with lots of different lighting applications. As the business has grown we expanded what we had to offer to people. This was driven in part by demand for more and our vision to really put a venue together. A DJ rig can be very two dimensional so we looked at what products would give us a three dimension effect. This then brought us to our decision to stock LED furniture. It was a product that had more than one purpose but always kept to what we are about, which at our core is lighting products. In recent times the demand for trends and a wow factor mean we have various lighting and props in stock to cover anything from a vintage look up to a nightclub effect.
How long have we being running the business Fusion was started in 2008 as a mobile disco company then rebranded to fusion events in 2013 as we evolved the business to what it is today. We are located in Worcestershire and travel all over the Midlands, and on occasions further afield.
Do you cater for more than just weddings?
Page 7
Fusion Events main work is for the wedding industry but we also work on corporate and charity events. We like to have a mixture of work from brides to be or companies. The products we offer allow us to work for a broad range of clients across the country.
Issue 1 Autumn 2014
Unique Selling Point Why we are unique is quiet simple. We look at trends of today and come up with ideas for tomorrow. We spend a lot of time researching the market and then put our own twist on things. Some items we will up cycle for use in our vintage range, sometimes we will import items from around the world and if you can’t buy it we will make it. Our carnival letters and DJ booth are an example of creating a bespoke range of products. We are constantly working on our product range and always aim to be a little different.
Brief We aim to provide people with what they want, but also help in the design of an event. With many different products in stock and the ability to make products we strive to meet any of the designs put in front of us.
Our main lines of products for hire DJ disco services with lighting and pa solutions • Neon collection. LED cubes • buckets • champagne tables • poseur tables • spheres • trees • pyramid • up lighting Vintage industrial collection LED carnival love letters • carnival DJ booth • vintage theatre lights • rail road lanterns • swan neck street lighting. r E xp er t Blog Flowe It’s the Autumn Issue of Fairytale Dreams: The Wedding Magazine! Dark nights and leaves falling from trees. Beautiful tones of Rusty Reds, Yellows, Oranges and Browns! The cold weather wanting you to snug up in front of a roaring fire and get all romantic!
Let’s have an Autumn Wedding!!! The tones of Autumn can be reflected in your wedding flowers! Using Mango Calla Lily, Orange Gerberas, Red and Yellow Roses, Hypericum Berry and using Oak Leaves to compliment the season and tie in with your autumn theme. The list goes on! Bringing the outdoors in works really well this time of year, not only in colour but using different materials too.
Using tall willow in your table arrangements, scattered leaves on your guest tables and oak leaves rolled into your wedding bouquets brings the wow factor and looks simply gorgeous. You could go really crazy and throw loads of leaves all around the room and instead of pedestal arrangement buy real trees to bring the outdoors in. Take a look at some of the images to inspire you. From Shower Bouquets to Hand Tied Bouquets.
Fusion Fairytale Top Floristry Tip Create a moodboard including the colour of your bridesmaids dresses, your dress, what make up style and tones you are going for and take this to your florist to ensure they are on the same page as you and understand your vision. You can then add your floristry ideas to your moodboard and use this moodboard as a starting point for all your other suppliers too!

Vintage Gla mour Flowers Content: Avalanche Roses, Viburnum and Freesia Availability: May-August Design: Neat, Elegant and Stunning. This bouquet was created as a Shower Bouquet design but with a vintage feel running through it. Using different sized pearls set within the flowers and thread onto loops of beargrass, it gave a real feel of vintage glamour and luxury. This bouquet was all wired into a dry frame so was very heavy but was worth it. Moonlight Earlier in the year we did our fabulous Twilight and Moonlight photoshoot. Why not have a look at the photos from the shoot and let us know your favourite. I caught up with Kris our magazine director to find out more about these glorious trends for the upcoming year. If you are just planning a wedding and want to be in the trend then these will most certainly be an eye catcher.
"Kris, what is your overall opinion on the Moonlight trend?"
Page 21
"Orange and Grey is looking to be a very big hit in 2015! From peach, coral, burnt orange to neon orange. I love it! Orange is a colour that can be used all year round and is such a fresh colour. As a florist I'm very excited about 2015 and mixing in lovely orange shades into to brides bouquets. In my opinion I think it looks amazing and to me orange is the way forward! This year saw the brightest moon, so with that in mind the moonlight photo shoot was created using the newest colour trend in mind!"
Issue 1 Autumn 2014
"Where would you use a trend like this? In decorations? Outfits as well?" "I would use orange as the main colour in decorations from flowers, chair sashes and decoration on your invites and cake. Keeping the cool grey and silver as a base. The colour can be included through dresses by having orange sashes with silver dress or silver sashes on ivory dresses, or even full coral dresses."

Twilight Inspired "Kris, what is your overall opinion on the Twilight trend?" "I'm a really big fan of Twilight and still watch the fabulous wedding of Bella and Edward! In my opinion over the last couple of years the Twilight theme has definitely creped in the wedding industry. Vintage style, pure and elegant styles, so I decided to mix it all up and add in red and black! Such contrasting colours and with Halloween approaching what better colours to have for your big day! I think brides and grooms are looking for something more than the normal these days and are getting brave with their wedding themes. I think it works really well and 2015 and 2016 is going to see more red and black through the industry."
Page 25
Issue 1 Autumn 2014
"Where would you use a trend like this? In decorations? Outfits as well?" Imagine pure white wedding dress, black bridesmaid dresses with red sashes and red rose bouquets! A pure black cake draped with red roses! Pure white linen and covers with black and red flocked chair sashes! Candelabras and Apples! Yes that’s my vision of a Twilight wedding. Total Contrast from the dresses, suits right through to the candy cart and guest book. Take a look at the amazing images taken at the photoshoot we held at The Regency Hotel earlier this year for full inspiration. The suppliers were given the specification and I must say I was wowed by everything!
"Thanks Kris! I’m most definitely a Twilight fan, that’s for sure. I mean come on who wouldn't want a bunch of topless werewolves at your wedding. If anyone see's Taylor Lautner send him my way!" Page 26
Following on from our Promotional Photo Shoot and Networking Event Twilight and MOONLIGHT a small group of Fairytale Dreams Members decided to push the boundaries with an idea I had and on Thursday 10th July 2014 we created MOONLIGHT

Vicki and Lee Prescott How did you two meet...
We would love to say it was love at first sight, but in fact it was a blind date all thanks to our mutual friend Kev. After having our numbers exchanged via Kev we chatted for a few days before going on our first date, I was chauffeur driven by Lee in Brownies Fiesta ST. We went for a drink at The Green Man, and the romance rolled from there.
How long have you been together... 5 years.
How did Lee propose...
In the middle of the desert in Egypt under the stars.
What made you choose your venue...
With the venue it was love at first sight, we didn't look anywhere else and as soon as the diary was open for the date we wanted, we booked it.
How did you choose your dress...
I had seen this dress from the beginning and fell in love with it, Maggie Sottero creates some amazing dresses however unfortunately it was more than what I was looking to pay. When I started to try dresses on I was advised by numerous bridal shops not to go for that style dress (princess) because I'm petite, I tried a few
Page 33
of the suggested ones on but I did what any naughty kid does when they get told not to do something, I went and bought my dream dress.
Where did the inspiration for your colour scheme and theme come from...
We went through many colour choices, and after becoming very confused with all of the options I turned to bridal magazines, I got the idea of pink and green from there but it was when I found the bridemaids dresses at Suzan Jane, I fell in love with the dusk pink and that set the tone. The green just fell into place with the vintage theme.
How many Bridesmaids did you have and how did you choose... I had 4, Kim, Polly, Meg and Jen, these are my nearest and dearest friends and the ones who would support me on my special day.
Issue 1 Autumn 2014
Who was the Best Man...
Anthony Morris AKA Marv was best man, Lee and Marv have been friends since they were at primary school.
Describe the week before..
It was quite mixed, the majority of it was organised however there were some situations that we could only do at the last minute. My dress needed pressing again, I have to thank Debbie at Suzan Jane for that, she was a massive help and support. I also decided to order confetti cones 2 days before and went shopping for jewellery the day before!
What cake did you go for...
We choose to have a 3 tier cake, which was chocolate, cherry amaretto, and caramel. We also had cupcakes of the same flavours and a same traditional fruit cake on top.
How did you party the night away... We had a live Indie band.
Where did you go on Honeymoon...
We went to Las Vegas, something a bit different. We had an amazing time.
How did you spend the night before the wedding...
After deciding to go last minute shopping, Kim, Jen and I had some food before heading to the cottage where we were staying, Pol and Meg met us at the cottage later, we had a few glasses of champers which my future husband had sent to the room, but I made sure I was the first one to bed... Best behaviour!
What is your best memory of the day...
Having my son Harvey walk me down to the ceremony and seeing everyone's faces as we entered it was very touching.
What music did you walk down to... Beatles - all you need is love.
What happened during the ceremony...
As I approached Lee he had a tear on his cheek, I was all smiles. Our friend had joked about saying something when the registrar asks the question about knowing if there is a reason why we should not wed, at that moment we both smiled and looked towards him.
How did you decorate the venue...
We went for a vintage theme, and accessorised it with flowers, chair covers and runners.
What is your top tip for a bride to be...
Leave plenty of time for photos as it goes to quick! Don't worry about your guests they will find their own entertainment whilst your off doing photos.

Bridal Accessories ď‚˜
Fascinators I have always loved to dress up for special occasions - in fact, I actually need very little excuse! - but I would always worry about turning up to an event, party or wedding wearing the same thing as somebody else. So I started to adapt my outfits to make sure that wouldn't happen, looking for vintage glam, independent traders, and by accessorizing. Through my love for vintage glamour and exploring in this direction I discovered fascinators and headpieces, just as they were becoming increasingly popular and used more and more in modern and contemporary fashion too. However, when I was looking for something very particular, it was impossible to find something in the shops to match a certain outfit perfectly and in just the right colours, with the right fastening so I decided to learn to make my own creations.
As well as having ready-made pieces for sale in my shop I also provide a completely personalized, bespoke service so my customers can have something special and unique which is just right for them, co-ordinates perfectly with their outfit and is comfortable and easy to wear whatever their hair-type. Sinamay, which is the material I use a lot in my designs, is wonderful to work with, comes in so many beautiful colours and with a little imagination there is so much you can do with it. I am also developing lots of new designs with different materials so quite literally, the sky is the limit!

Ellen and Kristopher Vanes How did you two meet...
We met at work. I was temping at Kris' place of work. We didn't speak much although we worked in the office. Kris was too shy and I was too overbearing. It wasn't until Kris had spare tickets for a concert and I invited myself along that we got talking. He still made me pay for the ticket though!
How did you choose your dress...
I bought a lot of wedding magazines and every dress I seemed to like happened to be from the same designer - Charlotte Balbier. I knew I wanted a lace dress. I found a supplier of Charlotte Balbier and tried on a range of styles. Tabitha has a slight fishtail and I would have never have imagined I would suit a fishtail dress.
How long have you been together... 6 and 1/2 years.
How did Kris propose...
We were on holiday in St Petersburg, Russia and it was my dream to see a ballet. Kris had bought quite expensive seats and during the interval he was acting really strange. I even shouted at him for acting weird and 'ruining' my night. (I do feel bad about that now) As the bell rang to signal that the second half was about to begin, Kris thrust a box in my hand and popped the question. Needless to say, I said yes. We walked back along Nevsky Prospect to our hotel and because neither of us particularly liked the local cuisine we bought a celebratory McDonalds before calling our friends and family.
What made you choose your venue...
I liked the natural style of converted barns. We found the Ashes from searching online and I had a gut feeling straight away.
Page 51
Where did the inspiration for your colour scheme and theme come from...
I wanted my wedding to be quite feminine and pretty whilst still remaining natural and classy. I liked the idea of pastel coloured bridesmaids dresses but after ordering one that was supposed to be 'lemon' I found some of the colours too bright. I found the bridesmaids dresses in French Connection, they are a beautiful blush pink colour and I knew they would suit the day perfectly.
Issue 1 Autumn 2014
How many Bridesmaids did you have and how did you choose... I had two adult bridesmaids and two flower girls. Maria has been one of my closest friends from school and she was a natural choice. I met Lindsay at work two years ago and from the first day we started together we became close friends.
Following the Civil ceremony everyone got on a Routemaster London Bus and went to the local Village church for a blessing. It was important to me that out marriage was recognised within the church and the eyes of God.
How did you decorate the venue...
We had lots of wicker hearts which complimented the barn and the flowers were placed in jam jars tied with lace. I also wanted the venue to smell beautiful so as well as the flowers I had my favourite yankee candles burning.
Who was the Best Man... Kris' cousin, Dean Love.
Describe the week before..
The week before I felt so relaxed, which is unlike me. I was excited and just looking forward to the day. I think what kept me calm was knowing I had selected dependable suppliers.
What is your best memory of the day...
I surprised Kris by booking a magician, Christian Fletcher. Kris was delighted and Christian was amazing, all the guests couldn't stop talking about him and how blown away they were.
Any other elements of the day that you would like to share‌
What music did you walk down to... Me and You by Kenny Chesney.
What happened during the ceremony...
As I approached Kris I saw his eyes had filled up which was very touching. I remember just feeling overcome with happiness and I couldn't believe I was marrying the man of my dreams.
I didn't want the speeches filled with memories of our family who had passed away, but I still wanted them to be remembered. We decided to let off dove balloons with tags on with a message written by either myself of Kris. We thought that was a much happier, and fitting way to remember the people who couldn't be there.

a Photographer’s
e v i t c e p s r Pe
Hi, I’m Dani from Dani Salmon Photography, a wedding and lifestyle photographer based just outside of Solihull. This is my first full time year as a wedding photographer in Birmingham and beyond, although a few more years part time got me here. This year I will photograph 20 weddings... that’s 40 happy couples, 25 stunning bridal gowns (yay for mid-wedding outfit changes!), more than 50 blushing bridesmaids, at least 25 cakes (yay for Groom’s Cakes!), 5 retro camper vans, hundreds of stunning flowers, a variety of hotels, stately homes, country houses, a marquee or two, a festival themed tipi and a dog in a bow tie. A truly excellent wedding photographer will be there to help with so much more than the all important photos. I’ve been on hand to button up dresses, fetch tea and biscuits for nervous brides, grab chewing gum from a bridal party mid group photo (yes it was used!), lace bustles before dancing and so much more.
“At every wedding I’ve held my camera firmly to my face to hide the tears as couples exchange their vows, as Parents give speeches about their grown up babes and as couples swish and twirl for their first dances to their favourite songs.” Getting up close with couples on their wedding day and supporting them through the planning process gives me an insight into the trends and fashions of weddings, as well as the golden threads running through them all.
Page53
Issue 1 Autumn 2014 So I’m here to tell you one or two things I’ve learnt from weddings so far this year:
1) Perfect is the enemy of happy This may be controversial, but your wedding day probably won’t be perfect. Expecting perfection will only end in tears and disappointment. BUT your wedding day can be filled with some of your happiest memories, surrounded by your loved ones & favourite people, in a venue you really like, enjoying food and drink that you love. Perfection is both overrated and unachieveable. As Pharrell would agree - Yay for happy!
2) Make your wedding ‘You’ Couples are abandoning the expectations, they’ve gone off the page, scrapped the wedding rulebook and set themselves free. Do it your way, do what you love not what’s expected. Worry less about the look of your wedding and worry more about how it feels. Always remember your wedding day is a celebration of your love for each other, not a spectacle of your earnings (or credit limit!). So surround yourself with people and things that make you happy and that will shine through on the day. I love photographing details but I love photos filled with emotion more.
3) Creative Bride & Groom Portraits In the quest for creative wedding portraits couples are getting brave, trying things that would have been exceptionally odd in weddings of the past. From the work of leading creative and alternative photographers I see couples hitching themselves up 6 foot high walls, strolling barefoot along beaches, throwing powder paint bombs, climbing trees, wading into rock pools and kissing in the rain. Take the opportunity to create some art while you’re in your finest and a have a photographer to hand. Use your engagement session or even book a session for after the wedding to have some fun. Don’t be afraid to talk to your photographer about doing something a little brave, I know I love to try new ideas with my couples.
4) Going Unplugged Picture the scene, you’ve spent the morning with your besties, hair and make up making you glow, wearing a dress that makes you feel wonderful. You arrive for your ceremony excited to see the reaction of your beloved and your nearest and dearest. You open the doors to walk into the room where you’ll be married and you’re greeted by your guests with camera phones and tablets where their faces should be. …Outside, after your ceremony there are more people taking photos of the confetti moment than there are throwing it. … Your guests adoringly watch your first dance on the screens of their phones while you’re sashaying just 5 feet away. And here is born the trend of an Unplugged wedding. Couples are asking their guests to leave the camera phones in their clutch bags and suit pockets. They’re asking their guests to be present, in the moment and involved in their days. They’re asking to see their faces and their reactions, instead of their cameras. Maybe this is a big ask these days where we instinctively reach for our cameras more often than ever before, but this is a trend I kinda love. In fact I’ve stopped taking photos at weddings where I’m a guest altogether!
The golden threads as I see it right now: •
Prioritise the emotion of your day
•
Find a photographer who will tell your story
•
Pay some care to the details but remember the big picture…
This is not the most perfect day of your life, it is the start of your marriage & your very best years… just make sure you have a great photographer there to capture it ;)

Choosing the
Perfect
cake
How doI choose my wedding cake?
along samples of invitations, materials, flowers etc. when you visit your cake maker. The more information you can provide the easier it is for them to design a cake which is individual to you.
Your wedding cake is one of the most important parts of your wedding day. It provides a beautiful photo opportunity so it is important that your wedding cake is perfect.
Location
Cake makers can get booked up to 12 months in advance so it is important to start looking around for your cake maker sooner rather than later to ensure you get the cake you truly want.
Choosing your design
The location and season of your wedding play an important part in the style of cake you have. If you are getting married in the middle of summer, hopefully the weather will be hot but whilst this is great for you it would not be so great for the cake decorated with chocolate. Marquees can also pose problems, with cakes separated with pillars not being suitable for this venue. Your cake maker will be able to advise you of your options.
Some brides find one cake design will jump out and strike them immediately and that will be the cake of their dreams but any good cake maker will be able to design a cake or adapt a design (or designs) to meet your requirements and your budget. I often have brides that have over 20 images of cakes they like but whilst to them they are all very different to me they have subconsciously chosen cakes with very similar elements.
Size
When choosing your cake there are a number of factors you will need to take into consideration.
Flavour
The style of your wedding will play a large part of your decision of the style of your wedding cake. Are you traditional or contemporary? Would something classic suit your style or are you more of an outrageous bride? If possible, take
Nowadays anything is possible with many brides shunning the traditional fruit cake. Chocolate, Lemon, Carrot, Coffee, Madeira, the list is endless. It is even possible to have a cake made entirely of cheese.
Page 55
The size of your cake will be determined by the number of portions you need it to provide. If you are having a small wedding than a 4 or 5 tier cake will not be necessary. For a larger wedding many cake makers can offer a cutting cake to provide additional portions.
Issue 1 Autumn 2014
Many cake makers offer the opportunity to sample the cakes they offer. Always try and take up this offer as it is important for your cake to taste as good as it looks. At the end of the day a cake is a cake and is there to be eaten.
Delivery Once you have decided on the style and flavour of your cake you need to get it will get to the venue on the day. Many cake makers offer a delivery service for a small charge. This would be the recommended option and will avoid any mishaps and unnecessary worry so that all that is left for you to do is cut the cake and enjoy!
Questions to ask your Cake Maker •
Can you see examples of their work?
•
Can you sample the cake fillings?
•
Are the cakes made using fresh ingredients or packet mixes?
•
Can they make any cake for you or do you have to have one of their designs?
•
Can they provide references or recommendation from previous brides?
•
Is there a minimum spend?
•
Can they advise ways to help you stick to your budget?
•
Can you have mixed flavour layers?
•
Do they deliver?
•
When and how do you need to pay?

Journalist Corner Danielle Leddington
...it’s me Danielle the journalist here. A big welcome to the Journalist Corner. I'm quite excited to be sharing my wedding plans with you all. I can’t however promise it will be all smiles as I know weddings can be a handful! I’ve been engaged for the past 4 months or so and have in all honesty just started thinking about planning the big day. Scary to some people, exciting to others. At first I thought I wont be a bridezilla...I could be wrong. Safe to say I have a date and a budget in mind. When choosing the date I’ve gone for the most logical in my mind which is when roughly me and Brandon (my fiance) got together. We thought it be best to get married in a couple years time, (should give Bran enough time to do his one of two jobs). All I’ve asked him to do is to get the suits sorted and turn up on time on the day. After deciding a date its now took us another month or so to get a list of venues we wish to see. No rushing my other half is there?
Page 57
Hi Everyone... This weekend we have gone and looked at a our first venue. It was HEAVEN! We went to Dunsley Hall in Kinver, and it was just magical. The hall is a grade 2 listed building which has all the old features back from 1812 this is including the interior as well. I knew as soon as I walked out of the car I’d knew I like it. The garden is perfect it has a wonderful patio with a pond, a perfect opportunity for photos. The land surrounding the hall is 8 acres. If you after something like Downton Abbey then do go have a look! It is just stunning! I found myself as I’m walking around planning where the top table will be. Where the decorations will go, where our photos will be taken. It is very idyllic the main part where the wedding breakfast will be is very light and spacious. Which I personally love, I can include my own features and the room won't seem overcrowded. Bonus. There are 10 bedrooms in total, 4 of them come with the exclusivity package if you go for it. Each and every single room had a different unique style the decor wasn't the same in every room. Most definitely worth a visit.
Now on to the next venue.. Got any tips for planning a wedding then please do get in touch at: magazine-journalist@fairytaledreamweddings.co.uk
