ARTSPACE : Flexible Visual Arts Learning Centre
Enhancing Sociability Through Visual Arts Experiences with Flexible Space The research is basically about to improve user experiences in a visual arts gallery journey and enhance sociability among community through flexibility approaches as strategies that suitable to context of the local community. The demand for flexibility of architecture has been increasing as recent social needs are also changing. However, most buildings designed with the intention of flexibility are blocky, boring, and quite inflexible because of incomplete systems or poor design planning. As a result, there will be lack of space for art display, like the case at Sarawak Museum Art Gallery that been closed because of this issue ((Lee, 2018). In addition, some gallery has the issue of underutilize space at some time which will be unsustainable to the economic aspects. The visual arts gallery as a node for the community integrating proper space planning will be able to enhance the social interactions and sociability within them. In order to derive a set of architectural programs that related to visual arts, it is important to understand the needs of its users. For example, temporary exhibition space is suitable for organizing art events and festivals which displayed artworks from local artists will then give community art experience and knowledge. Thus, events like this will eventually attract the visitors to enter the gallery (Axelsen, 2006). Therefore, the visual arts gallery should be as a centre for community and is designed for the local community. The research will be using Brooke Dockyard, Kuching as study subject which will be applying flexibility strategies and approaches identified based on the user preferences.

Sarawak Visual Arts Centre Flexible Spaces as Design Strategy for Sociability
Visual arts centre is a place for art movement and art enthusiasm that should resemble of the community. It is a symbol of expression. The demand for flexibility of architecture has been increasing as recent social needs are also changing. However, most buildings designed with the intention of flexibility are blocky, boring, and quite inflexible because of incomplete systems or poor design planning. The visual arts centre as a node for the community and integrating proper space planning will enable to enhance the social interactions and sociability within them. The socio-culture research has been done at Kuching Waterfront, a development that is full of history and culture along the Sarawak River located in Kuching that is rich with multi-cultural people with different ethnicity. In order to improve the quality of life for the community, the visual arts centre could be a catalyst to improve sociability within community. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a proposal in designing a visual arts centre with applying flexible spaces as design strategy to fulfil the needs for different kind of programs and activities to increase social interactions among local communities.
Pre Thesis 2 : Urban New Spirit Studio
#LIBAS Sepak Takraw Arena Sepak Takraw Arena as Sport Node in Enhancing Sociability of Kampong Bharu Neighbourhood The research is about designing the urban spaces for sepak takraw activities which act as a training, educating and exploring centre to revive this traditional sport that can improve community lifestyle in Kuala Lumpur. The lack of awareness & exposure about sepak takraw in the Kuala Lumpur generally, & in Kampong Bharu especially, leads to the young generation of the local community slowly forgotten about the history of sepak takraw & not knowing that Malaysia was one of the powerhouse on this sport, besides other South-East Asia countries such as Thailand and Myanmar. Study identifies the important of space for gathering that will spark the community spirit in an urban development. Hence, the research aims to enhance urban sociability by reviving sepak takraw as a medium to create sport node in Kuala Lumpur. The objectives include creating an interactive learning environment centre including connecting to the site surrounding through architecture which affect awareness on healthy culture among the local community of Kampong Bharu. Data findings indicates that this sepak takraw centre will help to enhance sociability and indirectly preserve the local history and also increases the sport popularity which will affect the tourists that come to Kuala Lumpur.

JOHOR BAHRU RECREATIONAL COMMUNITY CENTRE :
Optimizing Green Roof as Climate Responsive Strategy in Tropical Climate
Green roof had been one of the topics talked about among professionals such as architects, engineers, authorities and researchers when related to green building and sustainable environment. Due to the current issues of global warming and increasing carbon emission, especially in urban areas, which resulted to the heat island phenomenon, and also flash flood due to urban runoff, applying green roof will be the option to minimize those problems. The main objective of this research is to mitigate solar heat gain inside the building & reduce rainwater run-off by applying green roof system on the building. Hence, a thermal simulation had been tested to the building model; designed specifically for recreation programs for community, which is to analyze solar heat gain with comparison between using green roof and conventional roof; and also water retention differences between those roofs. The study found that the heat gain inside building had reduced when using green roof and slow down run-off by up to 80%.
