Volunteer Leadership

The commitment of our dedicated volunteers plays an essential role at FAIS. Not only do our volunteers model responsible, service-oriented behavior to our students; they are the wheels that keep so many of our traditions alive. Our volunteers serve in classrooms, recruit and welcome new families, and coordinate events that strengthen our community. Thank you to ALL of our volunteers. Your wholehearted dedication to FAIS is so greatly appreciated.

FÊTE DU VIN

Each fall, this wine event brings the FAIS community together and celebrates the rich culture and growing talent of Portland's food and wine community. This year, we hosted a unique, at home wine tasting experience, where guests tasted twelve wines from four different vineyards and via Zoom, connected directly with the winemakers. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from wine purchases come back to FAIS

ANNUAL GALA

The Annual Gala is our largest community building and philanthropic event. Our 2021 Virtual Gala celebrated the silver linings from a year of challenges, and reminded us to find the good in every day. With an outpouring of support from our community, we blew past our Special Appeal goal and raised over $230,000 to upgrade the gym floor and build a bouldering wall!

NEW FAMILY WELCOMING GROUP

The New Family Welcoming Group provides support to new FAIS families by answering questions, sharing their experiences, and serving as a general resource throughout the summer and into the fall.

ECO ACTION TEAM

This team of staff, parents, students and alumni promotes environmental stewardship by integrating the FAIS mission and Eco School Pathways to Sustainability to guide eco-actions, learning goals, and nature spaces projects at FAIS. Members are passionate about eliciting long-term change by supporting FAIS sustainability policies, Green Team initiatives, and green curriculum, as well as leading infrastructure projects that inspire students, staff, and families to experience the outdoors.

PARENT AMBASSADOR NETWORK

The Parent Ambassador Network represents FAIS at internal and external promotional events to cultivate relationships within the greater Portland metropolitan area, with the ultimate purpose of bringing new families to FAIS.

PARENT LIAISON COMMITTEE

The Parent Liaison Committee (PLC) serves as the link between home and school for FAIS families. Monthly meetings with the Division Heads provide an opportunity to stay informed while connecting with other parents. The goal of the PLC is to connect, inform, and support. The Fun Committee, which plans all-school community events, also operates within PLC.
