French tabloids and the Twittersphere have been riveted and amused in recent days by a continuing slinging match between Louis Sarkozy, the son of the former rightist president Nicolas Sarkozy, and Léonard Trierweiler, the son of Valérie Trierweiler, the onetime first lady and former partner of Mr. Sarkozy’s successor and Socialist rival, President François Hollande.

Domestic animals in France are no longer viewed as “furniture” but as “living beings capable of sensitivity”, after parliament voted in favour of changes to the country’s two century-old Napoleonic civil code.
Architecture
Paris’s mayor has launched an ambitious plan to “reinvent” the French capital, asking top architects from around the world to dream up ways of revamping 23 sites around the City of Light. The project will cover around 37 acres of space and see up to 600 lodgings built. Ideas are to be sent early next year, with a short list drawn up by July and the winning tenders announced next December.
Fashion John Galliano has failed in his bid to win substantial damages from his former employers, Dior SA and John Galliano SA, after he claimed they dismissed him unfairly following his drunken anti-Semitic rant in a Paris café in 2011. The designer, who was recently named creative director of Maison Martin Margiela, was seeking damages of between €2.4 million and €13 million, stating that his bosses at Dior and his eponymous label were fully aware of his alcohol and drug addictions before the much-publicised event, which saw him fired from his creative director position at both labels. His claims were rejected by the Paris labour court, and he was ordered to pay both Dior SA and John Galliano SA a symbolic €1 each. It is not yet known whether Galliano will appeal the decision.

France is treating a United Nations employee who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone. The victim has been placed in isolation under high security in an army training hospital in Saint-Mande near Paris. Despite around 500 reports of possible Ebola infections in France since June, not one has so far tested positive.

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only,” Coco Chanel once said. “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening”.

YOUR TECH
Burberry, which has more than 17 million likes on Facebook, is one luxury brand that has fully embraced fashion tech. Burberry, the British fashion house, is a pioneer in fashion technology. It has integrated the physical and digital in its flagship stores in London, Hong Kong and Chicago. Mirrors become screens showcasing catwalk images. There are about 100 screens and 500 speakers. There are no cash tills (like Apple stores) and you pay on devices. You can even experience weather -- simulated rain showers/ sounds of thunder -- just to remind you why you might need a Burberry trench coat. They’ve rolled out the augmented technology with intelligent mirrors to show the outfit you’re trying as if you were the star of a catwalk show.
Tory Burch did collaborate with Fitbit for jewellery that would track your fitness. She made a whole lone of bracelets and necklaces for everyday wear and evening wear. Rebecca Minkoff is another designer who has teamed up with a tech company to make some amazing accessories. Her bracelets can alert the wearer of push notifications or have a hidden apple charger. This is similar to the smart rings by Ringly which will be available this winter. Other companies like Netatmo, the goal is actually to create technical accessories that can passively monitor your health and activity without the wearer having to think about it or carry around additional technology. They have created a smart band named June that moniters sun exposure and gives the wearer S.P.F suggestions. For the first time fashion is not just an add on for technology. Rachel Arthur, WGSN,
“For the first time fashion is not just an add-on for technology. In the past a bag with a pouch for a phone was the extent of it,” said Rachel Arthur, from trend forecaster WGSN. “Now there’s a partnership with fashion labels. With technology getting smaller, there’s no reason that it won’t be embedded in collections and accessories.” But others are more skeptical about wearables. Marc Curtis, head of innovation labs at digital agency TMW, said: “Arguably, Apple have not created anything unique in terms of technical innovation. However, they have placed mobile, contactless payments at the heart of their new devices.” Curtis is more excited by the potential of smart fabrics, cloths that can be embedded with sensors and microprocessors that can communicate with mobile phones to process information such as the wearers’ heart rate or temperature. And that is potentially the future of fashion technology: seamless, subtle and intuitive.

NEW FACE OF ONLINE BLOGGING
Alexis Atkins
Photographer: Isabella Roy Water Color Kimono: Forever 21, White button Down Shirt: Forever 21 Jeans: Mudd from Kohls, Tan Wedges: Mudd from Kohls
On Friday November 7, 2014 I was traveling in Georgia, United States of America as it is one of the last major cotton producers in the United States and had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Alexis Atkins, a current student at the Savannah College of Art and Design and writer for thelala.com. Meeting at a very beautiful hidden garden right in downtown Savannah, Alexis was looking both professional and full of youth in her Kohl’s Aztec shoes, Lauren Conrad jeans, Forever 21 floral and fringe kimono cover up, and vintage purse. Q. When did you first start working for thelala.com? A. I started my freshman year at SCAD after seeing a post about the magazine on Facebook (fall or winter 2013) Q. What was the process of getting hired for the online blog since the owners and founders are in New York, USA? A. You apply online and complete a questionnaire as well as a mock article so that the 2 co-founders can get a feel for your writing. Once hired you have to go through a learning process to make the website cohesive since the magazine has writers from colleges across the country.
Q. I noticed you have varied interests. What inspires the pieces you write about? A; Twitter, Refinery 21, and social media definitely. Q. Does the lala influence your decision to write about empowering women? A. Yes, the lala is all about empowering women and giving them better role models than the typically magazine would. We are not allowed to write about dieting or how to keep your man. Instead we right positive things about food and love. Q. I noticed you do a lot of articles about fashion. What style do you typically go for? A. I dress more classic and affordable. I also work at Kohl’s so I think it is important to make fashion something that anyone can obtain while retaining quality. Q. So as you are currently a student at SCAD as a Fashion Merchandising major are you taking a chance and working in fashion design or taking classes? A. Not as a minor or dual major but with Fashion Marketing it is very important to know the process and designs behind clothes in order to sell to the customer. Q. What did you grow up wearing? A. I grew up in Virginia. I lived in a town where there were more department stores. Q. Do you enjoy the change of stores in Savannah? A. I have enjoyed being able to shop at the local vintage stores such as Civvies. It gives you more to work with. Q. Where do you see yourself in the future? A. Traveling would be great because I have never been out of the country Q. Would you work more online or in print? A. I prefer online but I am willing to do both. I think it is important to be well rounded. Q. What do you think is important to become well rounded in your future job? A. I think professionalism is very important as well as collaboration. SCAD has definitely fostered a sense of collaboration with in me by encouraging me to meet with other majors while the Lala has fostered the sense of professionalism since most of our work is done online through emails.
Q
Q. How do your bosses, Molly and Katherine, influence the writers as a team since everyone is spread out? A. They send out a weekly email with updates, suggestions, and please do not write about this. We also get statistics on who had the top view of the week. Q. I know you use your social media sites to promote your articles, do you get to count your views and readers. A. No. Q. Do you think that is a benefit? A. Yes because it makes you focus more on the quality of the work not the quantity of readers.
Q. Can you give me a preview of what your latest piece is? A. I can tell you it is about my experiences with online classes and I’m going to give you advice on how to survive it.
Q. What advice would you give to someone aspiring to be a writer in the fashion world? A. Just do not burn bridges with people. Always keep in mid the friendships you make and people you meet because you never know when that person could help you out.
Q. Final question, who is your role model? A. Lauren Conrad is the person I aspire to be like because she came out of reality television with such grace and managed to make herself a success by having her hand in everything and exploring new avenues. I would love to be able to do that one day.

There seems to be a recent trend of comparing American style and French. Though easy to make comparisons due to the completely different cultures one should not forget that France has many of the leaders in the fashion industry living in its borders. As Coco Chanel said “Before you leave the house, take a look in the mirror and take one thing off.” That statement is one French women have long since taken as a rule while Americans proceed to make themselves spectacles in clashing patterns, textiles, etc. While I applaud them for being daring there are just some looks that should remain classic. Take the advice of Chanel, “simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.”

Trend Round Up
New Year comes with New Trends Looking 70’s for Spring 2015
That 70’s Show , Paris had the same nostalgia trend. No matter what the personal aesthetic of the designers , they all seemed to look towards the past for the future of Spring 2015 Flower Power . Retro florals are a thing of the past ,or so we thought . Gather your daisies and lilies because flowers are here to stay with a retro twist. Designers such Maison Margelia and Celine made it easy for you to fall for the flowers all over again. Denim is the new black .Denim was everywhere on the runway. ( I wonder how Coco is feeling right now?) We saw denim as jumpsuits , palazzo pants and tailored shirts . If you thought denim wasn’t here to stay then you should talk to Valentino , Louis Vuitton and etc. High Necklines. If you missed high necklines. Look no more Paris brought this look back in full force. Designers such as Raf Simmons had high necklines within shirts and dresses. Scarves Are Here to Stay. While neck scarves are a thing for European women .They are quickly replaceable in American society .

that’s so 70’s
Dries Van Noten SS/2015
Runway Denim
Vionnet SS/2015
Roland Mouret SS/2015
Dries Van catwalk was adorned with soft and textural carpet to resemble mossy tuft and hillocks .This atmosphere had hippie all over it .Dries did a perfect job of carving out a calm oasis in busy Paris.
Not only did the atmosphere feel psychedelic , the garments freely coming down the runway spoke volumes to the seventies feel . The micro layered rainbow sleeveless vest was the show-stopper of the show.
Roland’s silk cut casual dress resembles the Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress from the 70’s the mix of silk bright muted colours is so intriguing. His added belts to waist sintiches the waist tying the 70s theme back in .
The theme was inspired by John Everett Millais ,Ophelia . In this painting Ophelia is in this dreamlike state resting in a pool of water with flowers floating around her and greenery surrounding her . This calm fantasy is transported to Paris by the mossy carpet that was commissioned by a Argentinian artist by the name of Alexandra Kehayogleru.
Vionnet futuristic twist on the 70’s was inspired by curves and dancing .These organza and delicate garments were so soft but urban at the same time . The wide waist belts turned these delicate knit or organza pieces into a 70’s showcase and pants that resemble harem pants makes it impossible for you not to think 70s.
These looks are so 70’s and is telling our Paris girls to look psychedelic and so cool. With the 70s feel in fashion I think designer are not just emulating this through clothing . I think they feel as if women should again feel empowered and not to forget about being a free-spirited women.
Louis Vuitton SS/2015
How could anyone not enjoy denim. Its a staple in everyday wear and designers are taking notice .I’m sure Coco Chanel is not to happy about the denim but we gracefully nod and ignore. Louis Vuitton wardrobe was very classic fro the cut of the garment to the colour scheme . His usage of denim was also a staple throughout the show . Denim capris and denim pants were his main focus . These classic looks left room for other designers to push there imagination .
Jean Paul Gaultier SS/2015
Or at least that’s how it seems from the graphics he used and corn rolls what else could one think of . His jeans however caught my eye , do not you missed those jeans your mother use to patch over to make them wearable again . Well if so Gaultier gave them to you fierce down the runway .Saddle up because e we are not just going to the 70’s we are also going to the deep south .
Stella McCartney SS/2015
Denim skirt are in ! Hell denim anything is in ! At least in Paris . Stella McCartney gave you skirts , capris, shirts and pants . So denim skirts are back and with full force .Thanks to Stella .
Such as Jean Paul Gaultier who could not resist to do an urban wear line.

High Necklines
Rochas SS/2015
Rochas tomboy feel meets the lace and grace whimicsal feel. We saw an offshoot of that during the show- his weapon of choice being a utility belt to add an industrial-futuristic feel to a beautiful and fragile dress. If wearing your belt up high around your bust over a bejewelled black evening coat or jacket will catch on in the real world is a different story, but here it helped to bring a modern plot to the house. Rochas usage of high necks is not anything new but a whole show with sheer fabric is pretty new .

Scarf Story
Christian Dior SS/2015
Raf Simmons evenging gowns maybe the most unexpected look that came down the runway. He lead the way of the highnecks trend . This collection was a continution of Dior’s haute coture looks. Whether Haute coture and ready to wear should be in the same sentence is up to your opinon . Raf begin with collection by asking himself “What is modern?’... ”It was an idea of confronting what people now think is an aesthetic that is modern - it felt more modern to go to the far past, not the ‘modernised’ look of the last decade.” Bravo Raf you made old look new .
Alexander McQueen SS/2015
Sarah burton enjoyed antique kimonos so much that it inspire this collection . This show was high neck galorie. That structured look went from neck down into the rest of the pieces. Alexander McQueen is not a line that you usually shop from. While i dont see parisian women ripping the urban streets wearing this . It will still be incroprated into everyday fashion .It is like a walking piece of art and if you cant enjoy and updated geisha girl , than you are missing a piece of the puzzle.
Saint Laurent SS/2015
When St. Laurent is mentioned I immediately think of rockers or best known as musicaians . Maybe thats why so many musicans where in attendance. Slimane’s girl has edge as if it is apart of the musical world. Even his usage of kneck tie has an edge to ! How does she do it . St. Laurent is coming for you Daphne look out .
Acnes SS/2015
Givenchy SS/2015
Acne had leather in spring , it looks like they a barking yp a trend of their own , leather year round anyone ? but however what stood out that was a trnd that hit around the week was a kneck tie . Hmm what pot of inspiration where these designers sipping from . Seems to be a lot of neck scarfs going around .
Givenchy neck scarf has to be the most appealing . With its pirates of the carribeiean look above .

CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE Au Revoir vous allez manquer
Au revior Christophe Lemaire , Paris Fashion Week saved the best for last , not only was this the last show for PFW but it was Christophre’s last show for Hermes . Christophe gracefully bows out after 4 years to concentrate on his own eponymous line. “Working for Hermès has been a great pleasure: a profoundly enriching experience on both a human and professional level. I am proud of what we have built together. My own label is growing in an important way and I now really want and need to dedicate myself to it fully,” he said in a statement. Axel Dumas, chief executive officer of Hermès, said, “I am very grateful to Christophe for the passion with which he has addressed and
enriched the expression of our house in women’s ready-to-wear. Under his artistic direction the métier has renewed its aesthetic and produced very satisfactory financial results.” So , who will replace Christophe Lemaire? ;Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski from The Row . Prior to Hemes , Christophe worked as creative director of Lacoste from 2001 til his appointment in 2010 at Hermes. If you were tired of seeing ‘70s and ‘60s inspired lines then Hermès was a breathe of fresh air. The ambiance resembled sand and a nice warm breeze and once the show started you were sure that a vacation was well deserved and the only name you wanted to adorn you body during the vacation was Hermes.
With the serenity and purity of this line with soft buttermilk cream tones , python jackets and a pop of golden tones with the bride of the show. This last show Christophe did spoke volumes of how he understood the aesthetic of Hermes buyer and contained on what Jean Paul Gaultier started. Lemaire manquer
Christophe creates quality women’s and men’s wear collection through his own line , he pays close attention to designing for everyday life. His clothing is unique realistic with singular pieces that influence volume and comfort. Many of his collections are inspired by the cosmopolitan of yesterday and today Paris. Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran offer a sustainable and appropriable style thought for life. The collections are designed and developed in the Marais district of Paris nearby the 28 rue de Poitou historic shop. The Expert below is a Q &A by the New York Times by Eric Wilson. Hermès fall 2011.Valerio Mezzanotti for The New York Times Hermès fall 2011. After Lacoste, some people expected you would bring a super-sportswear mentality here, not knowing what your goal was. Did you think there would be any crossover between your past and what you wanted to do here?
Lacoste is a sportswear brand. It is about functionality, easy-to-wear clothes, and also a bit timeless. It is a brand that is somewhere else on the side of fashion. In a completely different context, I think, Hermès is the same in a way. Hermès is a brand of functionality with extreme quality. At Hermès, we don’t say we do luxury. We do useful objects of an extreme quality. You have to think about the comfort, the functionality, the pockets, the way the clothes will age. The inside is as important as the outside. The extreme quality that you feel, rather than show, is extremely important. I thought it was interesting what you said to Suzy Menkes yesterday: “It’s the malady of our industry – always to go quicker and quicker and that everything should be instant.”
Tell me what you mean?
It is a global disease of our time – the idea of consumerism, this perverse thing. And also the Internet is great, but it can also be a bit crazy this way of wanting everything to be immediate and zap to the next thing. In the fashion field, it didn’t create very interesting things. You need time to create quality. You need time to think. You need time to dream. You need time to step back. If you are always in a constant rush, running after time and trying to kill time, you become crazy. And you don’t produce real quality.
has been on everyone’s “ That mind this week, but how do you propose to change that? ” I don’t know. We want to change that at Hermès by showing another approach to style. It is a house where you feel you can build season after season. There is a beautiful example in the buckles for the bags. There is so much passion in how to make the bag and making the hardware that has just the right noise when it closes. Some of the workers would spend three seasons looking for the perfect noise for the bags. Sometimes they will pick up a buckle that was made 20 years ago and they will rework it to improve it. I love this idea of improving every season, instead of washing everything away and trying to impress everyone and make a spectacle. That’s not the point. We need good quality product and honest product, and that makes you feel better. As a final thought, do you think the idea of Hermès will change with you as the designer?

The oversize clothing that still showed a feminine side but almost never touched the body was brilliant. The grey long shirt and the thigh high pink pastel boots hues play off each other so well. Bright lip colours such as cherry, ruby red and bright pink continue to be popular this year in Paris. Strong pigments of colour coat the lips. Matte finishes deliver a strong statement, while glossy colours at Jean Paul Gaultier create the illusion of a fuller lip.
All attention is on the eyes for S/S 15, with blue tones from electric to sky and powder dominating. Application techniques vary from intense and smoky to a subtle sweep of soft blue on the eyelids, or blue kohl lining the upper and lower lash line. Powder finishes with an iridescent texture create a softer, luminous look.
Metallic gold is another main eye colour for S/S 15, seen in matte and creamy liquid finishes. Colour is applied all over the eyelids, starting from the tear duct and ending on the outer corners. Minimalist make-up is used on the rest of the face, allowing the eyes to stand out. Winged liner return to trend this year. Thickly applied black liquid liner coats the eyelids, with a long, sharp flick to create a bold and tough appearance. Colour is blended over the crease line and extended out towards the temples to create an elongated shape. 47 |

1. START WITH A BLANK CANVAS For photography friendly makeup, it’s important to start with a fresh, clean face. No layering over already present makeup! Cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize your face. Follow with a primer to make sure your foundation doesn’t slide off throughout the day! 2. NO SPF Products with SPF in them are an ultimate no-no when it comes to photos. Avoid foundations with SPF in them because they can make you looked washed out. Instead, choose a foundation that is HD or claims to be great for photos. Moisturizers with SPF should be avoided as well on the days when you will have photos taken. 3. APPLY POWDER One thing you don’t want in your photos is a shiny face! There are two ways you can prevent an oily complexion in photos. First, apply a loose, matte powder over your #makeup to set it and combat shine. Second, carry oil-absorbing papers with you to soak up any excess oil throughout the day. Finally, avoid using a pressed powder, as pressed powders can give you that “washed-out” look. 4. USE WHITE EYE LINER Here’s an easy way to keep your eyes from looking tired and red. Line your inner rims with a white eyeliner pencil! This little technique makes the whites of your eyes appear whiter, and can also enlarge your eyes and make them “pop.” You can still use a dark liner on your lower lash line and the top of your lids if you desire.
5. BOLDER COLORS When you’re having your pictures made, you can actually get away with bolder colors! Don’t go too bright, because you don’t want to appear clown-like. But with your blush and lipstick, you can be a little more dramatic! In photos, the flash can naturally wash you out a bit, so a touch of color on your cheeks and lips will keep you balanced out. 6. PROPERLY MATCHED FOUNDATION It’s important that you make sure your foundation is an exact match to your skin tone, not only so you look natural in real life, but also so that you #look natural in pictures. Even just one shade too light can make you appear too pale! Go to a professional #makeup counter and ask to have your foundation shade matched to your skin. This service is generally complimentary! 7. NOT TOO MUCH SPARKLE It’s a good idea to reach for mostly matte #makeup products when it comes to photos. Too much sparkle can have your face looking like a disco ball! Sparkles also tend to settle into fine lines and accentuate them. It’s okay to have #little bit of very fine sparkle in your gloss or blush or even shadow, but try to keep the majority of your products matte. 8. FILL IN YOUR BROWS Your brow frames your eye, so you should always fill in your brows, especially for photos. Use a soft brow pencil or a brow powder, and don’t aim to draw on new brows. Just follow the natural shape of your brow and fill in sparse spots to open up your eye area and bring your brows out! 9. CONTOUR YOUR EYE CREASE One step you don’t want to skip for photography friendly makeup is contouring your eye crease! Choose a matte shade of plum, brown, or any neutral color that is darker than the shade on your lid and apply it to your eye crease. This helps keep your #eyes as the focus, and prevents them from getting lost on your face!

Daft Punk has been on the scene since 1993 and is made by the French electronic music duo Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. While Daft Punk’s house music is popular all over the world, one interesting thing about the two members of the duo is that concealed to keep their identities fairly concealed. They rarely grant interviews or appear on television and even go as far as to wear masks to keep out of the public eye. Thus allowing them to have more of a normal personal life, all the while boosting their popularity and mysterious quality.

As a French record producer, house music DJ, remixer, and owner of Yellow Productions Bob Sinclar is truly everywhere in the music industry. Sinclar is inspired by “peace, love, and house music” and is known for popularizing the “French touch” of house music with heavy use of disco strings. He is the man who put the groove back onto the dance floor. “I Feel For You” and “Darlin” are two instant hits that cemented his position as one of the leading artists in house revival. Sinclar has an understanding of beat, groove, and vocal flow like no other. Sinclar is easily one of most talented DJ’s and definitely someone to keep on your radar.
