How can I operate it? We long for the summer and hot days every winter, but when they finally come, we quickly get tired of them. Everyone who spends time in closed spaces such as house or office can feel bothered with the scorching sunshine. Staying in glazed areas becomes unbearable, therefore it is difficult to enjoy the long-awaited hot, summer weather. It is good idea to consider installing screens that successfully stop solar radiation before it reaches the glazing and prevent excessive heat gain inside.

ted viewers and ensures a feeling of privacy, while providing good view to the outside. You can choose from several fabric types, featuring different colours and degrees of open area (10%, 6%, 1% and 0% if you need fabric ensuring complete shading of the room). Profiles of the awning are available in four colours: black, white, grey and brown and upon request – in any colour from the RAL palette.

What kind of screens should I choose? Popular fabric blinds fitted from the inside help to limit intense sunlight on sunny days, but unfortunately, they do not prevent increase of the temperature in the room since they accumulate heat as well, emitting it inside. Applying external shutters, you can keep the heat outside, but at the same time you stop the light, resulting in semi-darkness inside in the daytime. FAKRO external awning blinds for roof and vertical windows effectively stop the heat outside the window and at the same time provide residents with natural light. According to rese-

arch carried out by FAKRO, awning blinds offer up to 8 times more effective protection than commonly used internal blinds. In practice, indoor temperature can drop by up to 10°C. This is because awning blinds absorb sunshine before it reaches the glazing and emit the heat to the outside of the room, hence protect it against overheating.

What about energy-efficiency? Choosing an awning blind does not generate additional costs for electricity as is the case with energy-consuming air-conditioning. You can significantly reduce its operation or completely stop using it. Besides, not everyone has good reaction to air-con. The awning blind is a year-round product as it protects against ex-

cessive heat gain in the summer and prevents heat loss on cold days, improving the Uw heat transfer coefficient by up to 16%..

What is the structure of the awning blind? It is made of durable, weather-resistant fibreglass material coated with PVC whose mesh disperses light falling into the interior. As a result, the light is evenly distributed, protecting eyes from harmful effects of reflections, especially uncomfortable when watching TV or working on the computer. The awning blind protects the interior against unwan-

You can choose between manually operated awning blinds (VMZ) and two control versions: powered by electricity and controlled by means of a remote control or wall switch in the wireless Z-Wave system (VMZ Z-Wave) and equipped with an intelligent automatic control system powered by solar energy (VMZ Solar). The latter have a photovoltaic panel which in conjunction with special electronic system reacts to solar radiation. When it is high, awning blinds roll down automatically, while in cloudy weather they roll up automatically. On cold days, the awning blind can be manually switched to winter mode of operation. In sunny weather, the awning rolls up automatically to allow the flow of warm sun rays, passively heating up the room. In the evening, the awning is automatically rolled down to protect the room from heat loss.

What other benefits does the awning blind offer? In addition to protection against overheating, all awning blinds in the electric version and VMZ ZIP (those in which the mesh moves on the profiles) can act as insect screens, protecting against insects, which are just as troublesome as the hot summer sun. Awning blinds provide comfort of living in both hot summer days and during a cooler weather. They are perfect solution for single and multi-family houses, offices as well as public utility buildings. Electric blinds can be integrated into the smartHome system to enjoy the right temperature all the time.
