hello

Hello there, It doesn’t seem any time since I last wrote, but wow what a year it has been already at FTH! We’ve been busier than ever: hosting the local Tryst Festival, welcoming newbies to the Spring Drama Season, meeting Bruce Foxton of the Jam and finalising the refit of the sparkly new cafe bar - due to be unveiled at the end of August. This autumn is all about having fun together. Fun for families, fun nights out with friends, fun get togethers and fun evening classes. After all, we all need a bit of cheeriness and something to look forward to, a wee night out that won’t cost the earth and isn’t too far to travel to and in a place where your greeted as a friend and not a customer. So if you’ve not been to FTH for a while, what are you waiting for? Hope to see you soon. Julia Harkness Venues Manager @FalkirkCultural Falkirk Arts venue@falkirkcommunitytrust.org

Catherine Wheels Theatre present

Lifeboat Wednesday 6th & Thursday 7th November 7.30pm / 1.30pm Catherine Wheels’ acclaimed show has moved audiences across the world since 2002 and we are delighted to welcome them back to FTH. Lifeboat is the extraordinary true story of courage, survival, and of enduring friendship during the darkest days of the Second World War. On Friday 13 September 1940, a ship, The City of Benares, set sail from Liverpool for Canada. On board were 90 evacuees escaping the relentless bombing and dangers of war torn Britain. Four days into the crossing, the ship was torpedoed and sank. Only eleven of the evacuees survived.

Two fifteen year old girls, Bess Walder and Beth Cumming, spent nineteen terrifying hours in the water on an upturned lifeboat. They willed each other to survive. Now, over sixty years later, they remain firm friends. £7 / £5 Family £20 Schools / groups £5 all tickets Suitable for Adults and Children age 9+
