Dear Parents and Friends of Aldenham Prep School Thank you for supporting our ASPA Summer Fair. This is a hugely important date in our calendar providing a wonderful day for all the family. It takes a lot of hard work to organise such an event and thank you to our very dedicated team of helpers without whom such special days would not be possible. Aldenham Prep School continues to thrive and has come a long way in it s relatively short history. Back in 1992 Aldenham Nursery opened with just three children, it quickly became very popular. Initially positioned in the school cricket pavilion it soon out grew the building and relocated to its present position in Wilson House. The nursery has always been extremely popular and due to parental demand the Governors decided to open a Pre-Prep department in September 2000. Two years later plans were underway to extend Pre-Prep and bridge the gap to the senior school with a Prep School. This is only our sixth year as a full school, Nursery – Year 6 and Aldenham provides a seamless transition through from 3-18. Aldenham Prep School has an extremely good reputation; it is thriving, well sought after and has a substantial waiting list. It is a privilege to be part of a school that continues to offer an excellent all round education to your children. Top Tips for Travelling with Kids! by Amanda Mitchell -My Travel Surprise
As we rush towards the summer holidays and get ready to go away,
whether it by plane, train or car, here are some of my top ten tips for a cool and stress free journey! 1) Check your passport! I know it sounds crazy but if you are travelling abroad you need to make sure your passport is valid. Some countries require a certain amount of months validity left on your passport before they let you in. 2) Small plastic Zip-Lock bags. These staple multi-purpose bags are perfect for; the required storing of 100ml liquid bottles in hand luggage, to reseal open packs of food, storing any wet items, foreign currency. The list is endless! 3) Dress your kids in bright clothes. This way you always recognise them in a busy crowd as they stand out more. 4) Soft packing: start writing a list a few weeks before you go of all the things you want to pack. That way not only will you remember what you need but you wont have a last minute panic and take everything you DONT need. 5) Chargers - the night before you leave make sure you charge your phone, camera, ipad etc. so you have maximum battery for the first leg of your journey. 6) Wear layers - however you are travelling the temperature always changes; in the airplane cabin, air conditioning in a car or open windows on a train. Always bring a jumper or lightweight jacket to throw on to keep you warm. 7) Anti-bacterial gel. One of the most important things to take with you on your holiday. Airports, terminals and rest-stops are visited by thousands of people every day. Keep safe and well by always washing your hands with anti-bacterial gel. 8) When leaving your plane, train or car double check that you have not left anything behind. Its amazing how small a Kindle, pencil case, guide book is and in your rush to leave you can leave it behind (yes, I am speaking from experience!) 9) If travelling abroad, let your Credit Card company know you are going away and put a travel alert on your card. ‘Moulin Rouge’ Summer Ball Friday 28 June 2013, 7.00 pm Tickets are on sale for this year’s Summer Ball which will be held in a stunning marquee in the school grounds. Tickets include reception drinks, a 3 course dinner, dancing to our fabulous DJ, casino, photo booth and dodgems, not to mention the Can Can girls. This event is open to ALL parents, staff, family and friends, and annually attracts around 300 guests.
