The Brain Tumour Research Charity is very excited to announce the launch of it’s fourth Research Centre of Excellence in a ground-breaking partnership with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (London). They are striving to fund a network of seven dedicated research centres and are now more than half-way towards their goal. The charity’s Chief Executive, Sue Farrington Smith, said: “Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer … yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research is allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable!” If you would like to donate to Brain Tumour Research, just text 70070 then RSCH09 followed by £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10.
New Boogie Beat Music and Movement Classes! Boogie Beat Music and Movement was established in 2000 and it has now come to the Farnham, Aldershot and Farnborough area. It is suitable for children aged 6 months to 5 years. Come along and meet Hannah and Giggles the Boogie Beat Monkey. Their classes incorporate dance themes based on traditional fairy tales and nursery rhymes such as The Gingerbread Man, The Three Little Pigs and Jack and the Beanstalk and they use all their own music and illustrations. Their classes help children to develop confidence, co-ordination and social skills whilst they learn to express themselves. Beautiful puppets are used from the Toy Box to sing songs and various large props such as a parachute and big ball are introduced throughout the sessions. Party packages and nursery and infant school workshops are also available. Please contact hannah@boogiebeat.co.uk or 07971444670 or visit www.boogiebeat.co.uk.
New Art Classes for Under 5’s in Fernhurst and Witley
Open Days Fri 20 Nov Fri 18 Dec
Arty Fingers are launching inspiring art classes for children aged 1 1/2 to 5 years old. Their classes cover a wide range of activities, from sketching to painting, from play dough to clay modelling, from decorating to making. Their aim is to equip pre-schoolers with the techniques and skills needed to convey their ideas. Luisa, who is launching the classes says ‘We believe that creative activities are the building blocks of child development. As parents, we know how important it is for a child to develop the skills to communicate. Before the little ones can talk or write confidently, they can express their ideas visually. Accepting the mess that comes with painting or clay making tends to put parents off the path of creative activities. At Arty Fingers, we do the cleaning bit, you do the fun bit.’ Please check www.artyfingers.co.uk or email hello@artyfingers.co.uk for details and bookings.

Christmas Noticeboard Santa & Rudolph Fun Runs
Christmas in Guildford
For a fun day out, why not enter one of the three Santa and Rudolph Fun Runs that Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care are organising this year in Godalming, Hindhead and Aldershot! Everyone is welcome and you don’t even need to run – just walk or jog at whatever pace you feel comfortable with. If you pre-register, entry is only £14 for adults, and £7 for under 14s and this includes a Santa suit for adults and reindeer antlers with a red nose for children, festive goodies and a medal for everyone who completes the course!
Get set for Christmas in Guildford with the return of the Guildford Little Book of Offers and free late night shopping parking.
It’s not about coming first, it’s about having festive fun for Hospice Care! Get friends and family to sponsor you, and raise money to help Phyllis Tuckwell provide the supportive and end of life care which it offers – free of charge – to those facing cancer, or other serious progressive illness, in West Surrey and North East Hampshire. Every day the Hospice Care charity supports over 250 patients and relatives in their own homes, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford, through a mix of medical care, nursing, therapies, counselling, social work and practical support. However, as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £15,000 a day to be able to do this. Which is why it needs you to grab your Santa hat and get running!! Visit www.pth.org.uk or call 01252 729446 to register today.
Julie and Hans Alexandersen celebrate 10 years at Santa Fir Christmas Tree Farm. Over the years Santa Fir, situated between Shamley Green and Cranleigh, has been transformed into a wonderful place to visit and buy a freshly grown Christmas tree. A real family day out. Each year they aim to add something new to the Santa Fir experience. This year they are delighted to welcome The 140 Field Cafe, who will be selling a variety of hot food and drinks and Firing Earth Mobile Pottery Studio, who will set up at the farm for the season, offering an opportunity to paint and take away Christmas tree decorations amongst other things. A new reindeer was born on the farm this year called ‘Rocky’. He is looking forward to seeing everyone along with the rest of the herd, Ash, Nog, Snowy, Dora, Holly and Ivy. A local produce market will be at the farm on 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th December. You can also visit Santa, browse the 2 fantastic shops, take a horse and cart ride, and lots more. Commenting on the report, ISL Group Managing Director Amin Makarem noted that “this has been a momentous year for ISL Surrey in that it has achieved this re-accreditation at the IPC Mastering level, as well as successful verification visits for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. We are delighted that the school’s efforts in providing such an enriching learning experience are evident to all and that all the hard work has been recognized externally for the third time.” ISL Surrey accepts students from age 2, from Nursery, through the IB Diploma. For further information on the ISL Surrey or its IPC or IB Programmes, please consult the website, www.islsurrey.org. To schedule a visit, telephone 01483 750409 or email admissions@islsurrey.org.
Barrow Hills School to Offer Nursery Provision Hermione Burnett who will be joining the nursery in January on the day of her 2nd birthday.
Barrow Hills School in Witley has announced that it will offer nursery provision for children aged two and above, starting from January 2016.
The on-site Nursery will initially offer a maximum of 12 high-quality places for children during the school’s academic year. It is envisaged the Nursery will help to create a greater choice and flexibility for parents and make it easier for them to access the childcare and early education services they need. The ‘learning’ focused hours of Nursery will be from 8.15am to 3.15pm with ‘wrap round’ care offered from 8am to 6pm to fit with the demands of modern working life. Existing floor space within the Early Years Department will be used to accommodate the nursery which, alongside some interior building work and the purchase of premium age-related furniture, play equipment, educational toys and resources, will provide an excellent addition to their long established existing Pre-Prep portfolio. The decision to provide a nursery facility at the school provides parents with access to a seamless education for their child from the age of two to 13 years – ensuring the consistency and continuity that helps to create a stable and secure learning environment. For more information please contact Pauline McBrown, Registrar on 01428 683639 or email registrar@barrowhills.org.

Aladdin at Camberley Theatre CAMBERLEY THEATRE Knoll Rd, Camberley 01276 707600 Aladdin Mon 7 Dec - Sun 3 Jan. This year Camberley Theatre presents a brand new interpretation of the classic pantomime, Aladdin. Mark Slowey returns to Camberley by popular demand as the wonderfully wacky pantomime dame, Widow Twankey. However, his skills don’t stop there – this year Mark has also written and directed the show. The show also welcomes newcomers Kristian Cunningham playing the title role of Aladdin opposite Olivia Holland-Rose as the beautiful Princess Jasmine. Aladdin is truly, madly, deeply in love with the princess, but how is a mere laundry boy supposed to get noticed? Josh Boorer will take on the role of Aladdin’s brother, Wishee Washee. Will this cheeky chappie help his Mum Widow Twankey get all her laundry done? Who knows… but I’m sure he’ll manage to create lots of crazy, comical panto antics along the way! As with any pantomime, there is of course a villain (oh yes there is!). The evil Abanazar will be played by Kevin Drury.
