CANYON CHILDREN & FAMILIES HAVE HOPE
Thank you to the over 150 community members who attended Doris’s Place Luncheon on April 12 in Stayton! Children and families in the Santiam Canyon have hope because of YOU. We’d also like to thank Rebekah and Juana for sharing their stories, our speakers and sponsors, including presenting sponsors, Cascade Floors and Santiam Hospitals & Clinics, our volunteers, and staff for connecting in support of the youngest among us.
SHARING OUR LOVE FOR OUR 400+ VOLUNTEERS
Our volunteers are the most wonderful, kind, gentle, reliable, and dedicated people around. We are SO grateful for each and every single one of you who volunteers to “Keep Children Safe and Families Together.” Whether in the classroom or at our events, YOU are benefiting children and families for generations. The impact you have is immeasurable, like the countless precious memories that stay with the children, and all of us, forever.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION FROM ‘NO KID HUNGRY’ Family Building Blocks was recently recognized for our efforts to ensure children and families had access to healthy, culturally sensitive food and resources during the pandemic. We are honored to share this national recognition with you, our community, who made this possible with your partnerships, donations, and consistent, unwavering support. Thank you for prioritizing families!
CELEBRATING NEW LOCATIONS: JEANETTE’S PLACE, INDY PLACE, AND FREEMAN PLACE
In April, we welcomed our community to tour our new locations and see the impact of their support. Freeman Place at Freeman Motor Company in northeast Salem is the new home of our Healthy Families home visiting team. We also recently moved our Dallas Relief Nursery to Indy Place in Independence. Named for lead donor, The Larry and Jeanette Epping Family Foundation, Jeanette’s Place is located across from Helen’s Place in southeast Salem and is home to our Family Mental Health Program. Jeanette’s Place houses two bilingual therapists, two interns, and an administrative assistant. Pictured (L-R) are Jeanette’s children, Shawn Engleberg and Gary Epping with Ron and Kay Rufener at the open house. Please stay tuned for information about our Jan’s Place open house in the near future. Located at Morningside United Methodist Church in southeast Salem, Jan’s Place will serve an additional 108 children. Jan’s Place is named for Jan Alsever, who raised her family near the church with her husband, John. Jan and John generously supported young children and their families for many years and also included Family Building Blocks in their estate.
