LEONETTI CELLAR AUTOGRAPHED VERTICAL Leonetti Cellar is well-known and celebrated as Walla Walla’s first commercial winery, founded in 1977. A long-standing family winery, the Leonetti farm was established in 1906 and the first commercial vineyards were planted on the same farm land in 1974. When the family acquired the farm, little did they know, its south-facing hillside of an acre and a half would one day become the foundation of the region’s wine industry. Gary Leonetti’s hopeful vision and tenacity helped him establish an entire industry for the valley using that piece of land where he planted a few hundred cuttings of cabernet sauvignon and riesling bare root grapes that he transported in the back of his 1967 Chevy pickup. Using the inspiration he gleaned from his grandfather’s bubbling fermentations in their dirt floor basement, the only logical thing to do to honor his family’s roots would be to name the winery Leonetti Cellar. Though today, the Leonetti Cellar mailing list has a three to four year waiting list, YOU have access to five Leonetti Cellar merlots autographed by winemaker Chris Figgins. KERMIT LYNCH AUTOGRAPHED MAGNUM Take home this rare magnum autographed by Kermit Lynch. Kermit Lynch was raised in San Luis Obispo, but his name has become synonymous with French and Italian wines. In 1972, with a $5,000 loan and maybe a bit of gumption, this writer/musician opened Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant with thirty-five cases of wine stacked on the floor. Attracted by the Old-World wine cultures of Europe, Kermit became a retailer, distributor, and national importer for authentic wines that express their terroir. Much like his close friends, the late food writer Richard Olney and Chez Panisse’s founder Alice Waters, Kermit’s influence has impacted many. He has had great success shining the spotlight on small, artisan producers, helping him win two James Beard awards. He was even knighted by the French government with their prestigious “Legion d’Honneur.” 2007 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Southern Rhône Red Blend La Crau.................................................. one 1.5L bottle Contributed by: Santiam Wine Co. & Bistro

TASTING NOTES 2011 Archery Summit Arcus Estate Pinot Noir The 2011 Archery Summit Arcus Estate Pinot Noir opens with aromas of fresh blueberry cobbler, dark plums, and juicy black cherries. Succulent flavors of cherry cola and black tea saturate the palate and are accompanied by layers of mixed baking spices. Mouthwatering flavors of marionberry, cinnamon stick, and black huckleberry leave the palate craving another taste of this burgeoning wine. 2015 Archery Summit Red Hills Vineyard Pinot Noir The perfume of our Red Hills Vineyard is unmistakable in the glass: mountain strawberries, cracked allspice, red currants, cinnamon, and nut oil provide a medley of aromatic intrigue. The palate swells with briary fruit notes reminiscent of red raspberries and bing cherries, dusted with a pinch of crushed rocks. On the finish, the spices, fruits, and minerals all converge to create a wine of tremendous persistence. 2015 Archery Summit Whole Cluster Cuvée Pinot Noir Our 2015 Archery Summit Whole Cluster Cuvée Pinot Noir opens with enticing aromas of dried mission fig, strawberry, and fresh mint swirled around notes of root beer and forest floor. The opulent, juicy palate captivates with mouth coating notes of tobacco and brandy-soaked cherry, supported by fresh minerality and fine-grained tannins on the mid-palate, creating a finesse that lasts throughout the enduring, elegant finish. 2017 Archery Summit Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay The 2017 growing season’s cool, elongated final stretch was music to Chardonnay’s ears. The resulting wine is richly textured, with subtle oaky and creamy notes atop pure and persistent underlying fruit flavors. Jasmine, flint, pistachio, and curry leaf aromatics dissolve into bright citrus flavors followed by stone fruit, kaffir lime, and lemon curd. A pronounced acidity runs the entire length of this enduring Chardonnay. 13

WINERY

Argyle Winery was founded in 1987 by Rollin Soles with the purpose of growing and making world-class sparkling wine in the perfectly suited, cool climate of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Argyle Winery’s focus on growing grapes for sparkling wine framed their perception of and orientation toward making world-class chardonnay, riesling, and pinot noir. Most importantly, making sparkling wine impressed upon them the need to develop the patience and flexibility to think long term. From the beginning, the touchstone for Argyle Winery has been continually challenging themselves to do what is best for the future and to make wines that will have long lives, improving with age. Argyle Winery farms three vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Lone Star Vineyard, and Spirit Hill Vineyard. They have been producing premier méthode champenoise sparkling wine, barrel-fermented chardonnay, and silky-textured pinot noir from low-yielding vines on winery-farmed hillside slopes since 1987. Located in the heart of Dundee Hills, Knudsen Vineyard has been Argyle Winery’s foundational fruit source. Knudsen Vineyard is the home of America’s first commercial planting of Dijon clone chardonnay. Knudsen Vineyard is also Argyle Winery’s home for Spirithouse Pinot Noir and their single-vineyard designated Argyle Winery Blanc de Blancs. Since 1999, Lone Star Vineyard has served as the backbone for Nuthouse Pinot Noir, their biggest and boldest pinot noir. In spring 2005, Argyle Winery released their first vintage of Lone Star-grown riesling, which, incidentally, is the New World’s first high-density, cutting edge riesling. The high-elevation Spirit Hill Vineyard supports Argyle Winery’s continuing goal to farm 100 percent of their own wine grapes, continuing their dedication to making world class sparkling wine in the Willamette Valley.

TASTING NOTES

2015 Argyle Winery Vintage Brut The 2015 sparkling wine vintage in the Willamette Valley was impeccable, showcasing the enticing depth and focused precision the region has to offer. The pinot noir-dominated blend provides impressive red-fruited dimension to the white peach, wild honey, and toasted brioche. The middle palate is invigorated with a dynamic acid backbone and edgy minerality, bringing balance and concentration to the long finish.

WINERY

Bethel Heights Vineyard was established by two families in 1977 in the Eola-Amity Hills of the Willamette Valley. Twin brothers Ted and Terry Casteel, and their partners, Pat Dudley and Marilyn Webb, left careers in academia and bought 75 promising acres, fourteen of which had newly planted grapevine cuttings in the ground. By 1979, 50 acres were planted and in 1984, the first estate wines were produced. For the first 30 years, Ted grew the grapes and made the wine while Pat and Marilyn ran the business. In 2006, Ben Casteel, the son of Terry and Marilyn, took the helm as Winemaker while the rest of the family continued to play supporting roles. Over the years, the Estate Vineyard has grown to 100 acres and includes the adjacent Justice Vineyard, planted in 1999. The original 50 acres of own-rooted pinot noir and chardonnay vines planted in the 1970’s continue to provide the backbone of Bethel Heights Vineyard wines. About 10,000 cases of wine are 100 percent estate-grown and produced each vintage: 75 percent pinot noir; 15 percent chardonnay; and, the remaining a combination of pinot gris and pinot blanc. The initial infatuation with pinot noir that brought the family to the Willamette Valley has not diminished. Gnarly old vines, geologically complex hillside soils, and direct impact from Æolian winds create highly energized wines with firm backbones, depth of character, and distinctive personalities. Nine different bottlings of estate-grown pinot noir and chardonnay each year barely begin to tell the tale.

TASTING NOTES

2015 Bethel Heights Vineyard Chardonnay Casteel The 2015 Bethel Heights Vineyard Chardonnay Casteel opens with aromas of preserved lemon, brioche, white pepper, and ocean air. The palate is both graceful and energetic, displaying the tension of a wine that will age beautifully over the next eight to 10 years. 2016 Bethel Heights Vineyard Pinot Noir Justice Vineyard Marrying volcanic topsoil with the ancient sea floor beneath, the 2016 Bethel Heights Vineyard Pinot Noir Justice Vineyard tells a captivating tale of two soils. Offering aromas of blackberry, black currant, and anise with hints of oak spice and almond butter, this is an athletic, muscular wine that will benefit from some cellaring to reach its full potential. 2017 Bethel Heights Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir The 2017 vintage shows a delicacy and elegance that it has not encountered in a few years, and the 2017 Bethel Heights Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir is no exception. Aromas of damp earth, warm spice, red cane berries, and faint oak spice carry over to the palate, while balancing acidity and fine grain tannins. This wine shows potential for aging over the next eight to 12 years.

Björnson Vineyard is part of a scenic 107-acre farm located in the heart of Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills. Just one hour from Portland and 20 minutes from Salem, await award-winning wines, panoramic views, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Mark and Pattie Björnson are the grower-winemaker team and founders of Björnson Vineyard. Their journey began in 1985 at the University of Minnesota when they dreamed of someday living in the country, raising a family, and farming. They married, raised four children, and worked in the Twin Cities until they were able to move to Oregon in 2005. Soon, their vision began to take shape when they purchased a scenic 107-acre parcel in the Eola-Amity Hills, complete with forests, cascading creeks, and a waterfall at the border. They planted a 28-acre vineyard between 2006 and 2012, and studied viticulture and enology at Chemeketa Community College. Pattie also interned at the nearby Bethel Heights Vineyard. They began constructing the winery in 2013 and it was completed days before the 2014 harvest. The tasting room was recently finished in 2017. Pattie’s primary focus is on winemaking and business management, while Mark tends to the vineyard. Björnson Vineyard also sells grapes to a number of winemakers including Failla Wines, Grochau Cellars, Vincent Wine Company, Haden Fig, Elevee Winegrowers, Fullerton Wines, Helioterra Wines, and Division Wines. Pattie and Mark are grateful to their family, staff, and the Oregon Winemaking Community for their ongoing support. They are thrilled to be a part of this amazing charity event benefiting children and families.

TASTING NOTES 2015 Björnson Vineyard Magnus Pinot Noir Only produced during the best vintages, Magnus is a rare bottling that includes the most opulent barrels from 2015. Underscored by old-growth forest earthiness and the sweet char of French oak, this wine shows a brazen mélangé of dark-skinned Cascadian wild berries, brown baking spices, and cedar, and is framed by well-tempered tannins. This barrel selection honors Mark’s grandfather, Magnus, a loving husband, respected businessman, and fair-minded civic and political leader. 2015 Björnson Vineyard Reserve Pinot Noir The 2015 vintage was characterized by early budbreak, early bloom, and plenty of sunshine. Fortunately, the weather cooled in September, arresting the sugar accumulation and allowing the fruit extra “hang time” to achieve phenological ripeness. Our reserve barrel selection features the breadth of what Björnson Vineyard has to offer. A rich, yet fine-grained tannin structure paves the way for a plethora of cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and lychee. Ancillary flavors include a peaty earthiness accented by black pepper. 2016 Björnson Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir A true reflection of Björnson Vineyard, the 2016 Björnson Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir opens with perfume of pot pourri and sweet cherries, followed by a rich, round mouthfeel with black cherry, a hint of spice, and just the right amount of tannin and structure for a long, lingering finish. You’ll taste some very attractive, fresh red fruit, as well as a gentle herbal, leafy edge, leading to a palate that has a very fresh, juicy succulent cherry, and chocolate finish with a noble tanning structure. 2016 Björnson Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay Our approach for making Chardonnay aspires to reach the Oregon style that has been established for this dynamic variety. Driven by acid and mineral notes, this wine is light on its feet, but also displays the full-bodied nature typical of wines from Björnson Vineyard. The wealth of citrus, tropical fruits, and chamomile tea give the palate a balance of energy and grace. 19

WINERY

Founded in 1998, Brooks Wines is a reflection of visionary Portland native Jimi Brooks. His reverence for the land and vines made him a practitioner of organic and biodynamic farming. The great respect for vineyard individuality and mastery of blending allowed his wines to achieve the greatest depth, flavors, and balance. While Jimi is no longer with us, his dynamic spirit lives on through his wines, family, and friends. With the outpouring of generosity and friendship from the Oregon wine community, Brooks Wines is delighted to share that they are stronger than ever with the addition of their new winery in Amity, Oregon. Jimi’s son, Pascal, is the sole owner of their winery and Jimi’s sister, Janie Brooks Heuck, has volunteered her time to lead their winery. Christopher Williams continues to make their wines in the same thoughtful manner as their founder. Brooks Wines is steadily guided by the legacies that Jimi left. His strong commitment to organic and biodynamic farming in the vineyards, gentle approach to winemaking, and excitement for future harvests are put into action each day. Brooks Wines’ pinot noir and riesling are grown and produced in Oregon. Visit Brooks Wines’ tasting room daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

TASTING NOTES 2015 Brooks Wines Willamette Valley Pinot Noir This wine features aromas of fresh cherries, wild strawberry, cranberry, and red plum with earthy, heady notes of mushroom, freshly turned soil, and dried red currants. Including beautiful floral notes of violet, rose, and jasmine, this pinot noir is mouth coating, rich, and velvety, with flavors of smoky bacon, savory charcuterie, and dry cheeses. Boasting a luxurious long, fruity, and lush finish with complex secondary flavors of truffle, shiitakes, and cherry compote, it is simply gorgeous and sexy, like a warm vintage of Morey St. Denis. Use this wine with a main course of rabbit or duck, or, better yet, as a pairing with porchetta, bacon wrapped scallops, or a rare filet mignon. Delicious! 2017 Brooks Wines Amycus Bouquet: Elderflower, clementine, squeezed lemon, star fruit, and mint. Palate: Lime curd, endive, Honey Globe melon, flaked salt, and orange blossom. Perception: Bursting with spring flowers, punchy citrus acidity, and refreshing herbs. Evokes the awakening of spring gardens and blossoms on the vine. Drinkability: Enjoy with everything from local spring produce to exotic fare. 2017 Brooks Wines Pinot Noir RosÊ Bouquet: Cavaillon melon, tea rose, pink peppercorn, ripe Honeycrisp apple, and lavender. Palate: White strawberry, fresh chèvre, candied grapefruit, shaved fennel, and watercress. Perception: Bursting with acidity giving way to a creamy mouthfeel and crisp mouth watering finish. Drinkability: Enjoy year-round.

Cristom Vineyards began a quarter of a century ago as a collaboration between an engineer and a biochemist who each possessed a deep-rooted respect for the land, the natural winemaking process, and pinot noir. Twenty-five years later, secondgeneration winegrower and owner Tom Gerrie leads winemaker Steve Doerner and the tenured viticulture team in tending the estate vineyards. Together, they produce elegant, dynamic wines, recognizable by Cristom Vineyards’ hallmark style of whole-cluster fermentation by native yeasts. Cristom Vineyards’ winemaking philosophy begins with respect for their land and estate vines. They’re proud to be Certified Sustainable by Low Input Viticulture & Enology (LIVE), both in the responsibly-run winery and in their fields which are thoughtfully and meticulously farmed with a focus on quality. The four estate pinot noir vineyards named for Gerrie family matriarchs are Eileen, Jessie, Louise, and Marjorie - each possessing natural variances in soil, elevation, and exposition. With minimal intervention during the winemaking process, Tom, Steve, and the team strive to craft wines that are an honest recording of both the vineyard and the vintage, producing the ultimate expressions of the stellar fruit with which they feel fortunate to work. Recognized globally as a leading producer in our beloved Willamette Valley, their wines continue to be a unique blend of tradition, modernity, and finesse.

TASTING NOTES 2014 Cristom Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir The Cristom Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir showcases the best of the stylistic range that the Eola-Amity Hills has to offer. This wine is crafted from a selection of barrels from each of the four Cristom estate pinot noir vineyards: Eileen Vineyard, Jessie Vineyard, Louise Vineyard, and Marjorie Vineyard. Blended together to create a faithful expression of the estate, this wine is a testament to its unique hillside in the Eola-Amity Hills. All estate vineyards are certified sustainable, and are farmed biodynamically, continuing to elevate thoughtful farming practices and stewardship of the land. 2017 Cristom Vineyards Estate Pinot Gris The Cristom Vineyards Estate Pinot Gris vines were planted in 1993, with 5.1 acres (2.06 hectares) placed on a gentle, east-facing slope that begins at the lowest elevation on the property and rises from 200 feet to 350 feet (61 m to 107 m). The pinot gris vineyard is distinctive to the estate in that it is planted entirely over marine sediments and ancient flood deposits, known as Missoula Flood silts. Planted at a high density of 1,815 vines/acre (4,485 vines/hectare), the pinot gris block has consistently produced a lifted, floral, and citrus-tinged wine that combines zesty, mineral-driven accents with a distinctively creamy finish since its first release with the 1996 vintage. 2017 Cristom Vineyards Mt. Jefferson Cuvée Pinot Noir The Cristom Vineyards Mt. Jefferson Cuvée Pinot Noir is a blend of the Cristom Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir along with exceptional fruit sourced from neighboring vineyards in the Willamette Valley. These contributing sites have been thoughtfully selected over the years, and are planted on a variety of soil types, elevations, and aspects representing the Willamette Valley Appellation as a broader whole. Each of these vineyards is farmed by committed winegrowers. Each site adds to the character, fruit, and structure of the wine, giving “Mt. Jeff” its deserved reputation as one of the most stylistically consistent pinot noirs in the world. 23

WINERY

Sineann, with owner and winemaker Peter Rosback, is a small producer of highly intense wine in Oregon’s Yamhill County. Sineann sources fruit from some of the best vineyards in the region, including: pinot noir and pinot gris from Willamette Valley and Hood River Valley; cabernet, merlot, and zinfandel from Columbia Valley; and, gewurztraminer from Willamette Valley and Columbia Gorge. Sineann also recently began sourcing fruit from Napa Valley. Sineann growers take great pride in the grapes they provide. Almost all of the wines are vineyard designated and no expense is spared in the pursuit of great wine. Crop levels are kept very low at one to three tons per acre. Winemaking is meticulous. All fruit is hand-sorted, delicately de-stemmed, punched down by hand, gently pressed, and gravity-racked. The wines are aged in new and one-year-old French oak barrels. Sineann strives to make great wine that is exciting to produce and gratifying to share. Peter Rosback believes that food and drink, lovingly prepared, make for happier and healthier people.

TASTING NOTES

2015 Sineann Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Expressing blackberry, black cherry, and floral notes in the nose, this cabernet sauvignon is sourced from Phinny Hill Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. It is full-bodied with a very full mid palate, and a slight astringency in the finish providing a wonderful counterpoint to the rich fruitiness of the wine. 2017 Sineann Abondante Blend The 2017 vintage of this perennial blend features six percent cabernet sauvignon, eighty-three percent zinfandel, and eleven percent merlot sourced from Oregon and Washington Columbia Valley fruit. The resulting wine is silky smooth with rich cabernet highlights and a full front palate featuring gentle accents of merlot. 2017 Sineann New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Every year, Sineann owner Peter Rosback makes a pilgrimage to New Zealand where he creates sauvignon blanc in Marlborough. This vintage is classic Marlborough fruit with an emphasis on passion fruit and grapefruit in the nose followed by a rich body and racy acidity.

WINERY

Willamette Valley Vineyards began producing high-quality, sustainably grown pinot noir and other cool-climate varietals in 1983. Since then, Willamette Valley Vineyards has earned the distinction as “One of America’s Great Pinot Noir Producers,” by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and “2011 Winery of the Year,” from Wine & Spirits Magazine. Their mission is to create elegant and classic Oregon wines from the Willamette Valley Appellation while serving as stewards of the land. Founder Jim Bernau believes we are rewarded with wines that taste better when made from naturally grown wine grapes. Tending the vines by hand and using minimalist winemaking techniques in small-batch fermentations, Jim strives to capture the unique sense of place that comes from the soils. Willamette Valley Vineyards invites you to their Estate Tasting Room and Barrel Cellar, open daily 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, to enjoy wine tasting, food pairing, and sweeping views of the valley. Don’t miss Pairings Wine & Food Experience, a decadent culinary event hosted every Friday and Saturday evening at 7:00 pm.

TASTING NOTES 2015 Griffin Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Aromas of blackberry, currant, black cherry, blue fruit, and dried herbs fill the glass and lead into flavors of cocoa and mocha over a dark-fruited core. The wine is jammy and full-bodied with smooth tannins and a long finish. 2015 Willamette Valley Vineyards Bernau Block Pinot Noir Sourced exclusively from 15 acres of pinot noir from the first plantings at the Estate Vineyard, Founder Jim Bernau planted these vines using a Christmas tree planter pulled behind his 33-horsepower tractor. He grafted the French clones 667 and 777 on a portion of the vines when they became available. 2015 Willamette Valley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir The 2015 Willamette Valley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir expresses the terroir of the three vineyards: the original planting by Founder Jim Bernau at the winery in the Salem hills; Tualatin Estate planted by Oregon wine pioneer Bill Fuller in the foothills of the Oregon Coastal Range; and, Elton planted by Dick and Betty O’Brien on the east face of the Eola-Amity hills. 2015 Willamette Valley Vineyards Méthode Champenoise Brut Fine bubbles elevate an appealing bouquet of pear, golden apple, white flowers, ginger, and candied almond. Attractive lemon and floral notes meld seamlessly on the palate with baking spice and brioche flavors gained from extended sur lie aging. The creamy and elegant structure combined with lifting acidity carry these flavors through the lingering vibrant finish. 2018 Willamette Valley Vineyards Whole Cluster Rosé of Pinot Noir This wine is exquisitely aromatic with notes of nectarine, jasmine, and ruby red grapefruit. The palate is juicy and displays fresh peach, kiwi, and floral honeysuckle flavors while remaining bright and balanced by mouthwatering acidity. The finish carries tropical papaya and guava essences well beyond the sip.

BREWERY

Gilgamesh Brewing is owned and operated by the Radtke family in Salem, Oregon. After years of home-brewing, the Radtke brothers, Mike, Nick, Matt, and their father, Lee, decided to turn their shared hobby into a family business. They took home the people’s choice award for their flagship ale, Mamba, at three consecutive Oregon beer festivals. Together, they made the leap and turned a section of Lee’s woodworking shop into a small seven-barrel production facility in the woods of Turner, Oregon. After three years in Turner, Gilgamesh Brewing outgrew the 600-square-foot facility and moved into their current location, a 2.5-acre spot in southeast Salem named The Campus. The Campus includes a large event yard, a high-efficiency production brewery, and a full restaurant with a patio adjacent to Pringle Creek. The high-efficiency brewhouse reduces energy, water, raw ingredients, and labor to provide a more sustainable product. The brewhouse also gives the brewers freedom to create new and unique beers to keep their customers on their toes. In the summer of 2019, Gilgamesh Brewing will open its second location in West Salem, aptly named The Woods. As with The Campus, The Woods location features stunning woodwork including tables and a 45-foot wrap-around bar, sustainably harvested and hand-milled at the Radtke family property. The Woods is a full-service restaurant with a large year-round patio. Gilgamesh Brewing creates a plethora of unique beers. Their flagship beers include the wildly popular Mamba, DJ Jazzy Heff, Oedipus IPA, Hazy IPA, Terry Porter, Classic Lager, and Doug FIRocious Double IPA. Find them on draft at your favorite watering hole or in 12-ounce six-pack cans throughout Oregon, Washington, and as far west as Japan.

“AGAINST A CLOUD LIT NIGHT” COMMEMORATIVE PAINTING BY DAYNA J. COLLINS Plaster, oil, and cold wax on cradled panel, 36 x 36 inches Dayna works and shows her art in the Pacific Northwest. She is a gallery artist at Guardino Gallery in Portland and RiverSea Gallery in Astoria. Her work can be seen in several published books, including “Art for Everyone,” “Oil and Cold Wax,” “Art Abandonment,” “The Mixed-Media Artist,” and “Cold Wax Medium.” She works in several disciplines, depending upon her mood or the topic. She is an abstract painter who works in plaster, oil paint, and wax. Dayna is also an avid collector and creates found object assemblage art and salvage collages. To stay apprised of Dayna’s current projects, follow her on Facebook at Dayna J. Collins/Alley Art Studio, Instagram at @daynalovesart, and Pinterest at Dayna Collins. She can also be found at www.alleyartstudio.com. “I speak in several dialects of visual language. When I’m painting in oil and cold wax, I love laying down paint, and then going back in and scraping part of it away, revealing remnants of an earlier layer. I begin my paintings with a thick coating of plaster, which allows me the immediate gratification of an initial layer of texture upon which I can build. I love making marks using oil pastels, charcoal, or by scratching into the surface with a knife or the pointed end of an awl. As an abstract painter, I paint intuitively, laying down paint in bold swaths of color, then going back in and refining the composition, finding the story buried in the paint. When you look at something I have created, I want you to wonder about its previous life and to feel like you’re on an archeological dig, getting a glimpse beneath the surface, but never the full story. I’m also a collector, energized by hunting for materials to use in my art, especially old worn out objects and ephemera. When I see a beat-up vintage tin or discover a rusty piece of metal, I hyperventilate a bit. I’m excited about the opportunity to give new life to these cast off, expendable objects. By combining old wood, plaster, paint, and found objects, I create vignettes that tell a story.” Contributed by: Dayna J. Collins

THANK YOU

VENUE SPONSOR

Welcome to Zenith Vineyard! Who would have believed 12 years ago that Uncorked Live at Zenith Vineyard would have developed into Salem’s premier gala event? Who would have believed that Salem would step up so generously and embrace the mission of Family Building Blocks? You believed, and you did it. We can all be so proud of what we have created together in support of our community and families in our neighborhoods. Certified by LIVE, Zenith Vineyard is all about sustainability. Sustainability starts and ends with family. We see Family Building Blocks’ work as vital to sustaining our neighborhoods, our schools, and the fabric of the community. Just as we lovingly tend the vineyard, hoping for a blessed harvest, you are the vinedressers of our community – making an investment now and applying support when needed most. The payoff will be in strengthening the families now and reaping the “harvest” in the next generation. Salem and this wonderful group have shown the desire to make investments now for the long-term benefit of our community. The fruit of that investment will surely be sweet. Join us in celebrating tonight! Let us build a successful legacy together in support of Family Building Blocks and our community. Enjoy some amazing wine and food as well!
