FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Community Members, The Primary School Report Card is based off of 3rd grade student performance data from the most recent school year 1516. North Marion uses many measures to determine how students are doing and this report represents just one aspect of our school. We know students need to be strong readers, writers and mathematicians and we will continue to use our Professional Learning Time to coordinate efforts to ensure all students at North Marion Primary gain the mastery they need to find success in school and in life. This coming year families can look forward to continued coordination between the Primary and Intermediate School teams. We are addressing our student’s learning needs in dynamic ways. · A new comprehensive Math program for all students in North Marion schools · 2nd year of Full Day Kindergarten program · Teachers working with Instructional Coaches to examine their craft of teaching · A continued focus on Parent Involvement and Community access · New Teacher Mentor program for all first and second year teachers to help retain highly qualified staff · Science curriculum and instruction advisory work group during 1617 school year

We recognize that we can’t do it alone. Your support, as families and community members is what makes our schools great. You can motivate your student as a learner through the following: · Provide encouragement from home to motivate and challenge your students. · Take an active role in monitoring your student's progress through open communication · Participate in school events and community forums when available Enjoy Play time, Down time and Family time. We are partners in the process of educating your children and we want you to feel safe, welcome and respected in our school community. With your support, we look forward to the coming year and all of its celebrations and successes. Thank you, Director | Julie Jackson

FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parents and Community Members,

At North Marion Middle School we are focused on the district’s mission to empower students to lead productive lives as stewards of their world. Today’s world, and our state standards, require them to think deeply and critically about the information in their lives and to apply their knowledge and skills in authentic ways. This is challenging for some, but we know that these are the qualities our students will need to be successful when they leave us, so we are committed to meeting their needs and ensuring they meet these standards. The annual report card issued by the Oregon Department of Education offers a comprehensive picture of how North Marion Middle School performed overall as a school. The Middle School Report Card is based on the 6th8th grade student performance data from 1516 school year. We know our students need to be strong readers and mathematicians and we will continue to use our Professional Learning Time to coordinate our efforts to ensure all students at the Middle School gain the mastery they need to find success before entering high school. Over the last two years, we have seen strong growth in both ELA and Math at NMMS, and we will continue our work to ensure that students are prepared for the challenges they face as they move from grade to grade. While we recognize the challenges that lay before us, we are excited about the new strategies and resources that we are using to address our student’s learning needs. These include: · Our second year with a comprehensive Language Arts program for all students in North Marion schools ·New math curriculum designed to address the new more demanding standards and allow for differentiation for each child Teachers working with data team coaches to maximize their effectiveness with their teams and in the classroom · A renewed focus on Parent Involvement and Community access · A Teacher Mentor program for all first and second year teachers to help develop and retain highly qualified staff We also recognize that we can’t do it alone. Your support, as families and community members is what makes our schools great. You can motivate your student as a learner through the following: · Provide encouragement from home to motivate and challenge your student

· Take an active role in monitoring your student’s progress through accessing the ParentPortal or contacting their teachers · Participate in school events and community forums · Become involved in your student’s daily learning activities by asking them questions, encouraging their completion of homework, and talking with them about what they are learning in school We are partners in the process of educating our children and we want you to feel welcome and included in our school community. With your support, we look forward to the coming year and all of its celebrations and successes.

Thank you, Principal | Barb Keeton

· teachers working with Instructional Coaches to finetune teaching practices, based on the North Marion Teaching and Learning cycle of instruction. · new Teacher Mentor program for all first and second year teachers to help retain highly qualified staff, · focus on Projectbased Learning to engage students in relevant learning.

North Marion High School is striving to empower students to lead productive lives as stewards of their world. We are addressing the many challenges that face most Oregon high schools: student growth, demonstrating proficiency on the Essential Skills required for graduation, adequate funding levels and the ongoing challenge to provide a personal education plan that best fits the specific needs of each and every student in preparing them for post high school choices. This High School Report Card is based on11th grade data from the 201516 school year. The report includes student performance data in English/Language Arts and math, including both academic achievement and growth. In addition, it reports fouryear and fiveyear graduation rates. This report card demonstrates strengths in the following areas: · Continued strength in English/Language Arts achievement 7 percentage points above the state average · Growth in math achievement a gain of 10 percentage points from previous year · Strong fouryear and five year graduation rates · Student subgroups (Economically Disadvantaged, Limited English Proficient and Students with Disabilities) demonstrated strong academic growth and achievement. We know our students need to leave our doors prepared for career and college. We will continue to focus our efforts to ensure all high school students gain the mastery they need to find success in the real world. We are excited about the new strategies and resources that we are using to address our students’ learning needs. These include: · new comprehensive English/Language Arts and math programs for all students,

But, we recognize that we can’t do it alone. Your support, as families and community members, is what makes our schools great. You can motivate your student as a learner through the following: · provide encouragement from home to motivate and challenge your students, · take an active role in monitoring your students progress through accessing the Parent Portal or contacting their teachers, · participate in school events and community forums, · become involved in your student’s daily learning activities by asking them questions, encouraging their completion of homework, and talking with them about what they are learning in school and on assignments. We are partners in the process of educating our children and we want you to feel welcome and included in our school community. With your support, we look forward to the coming year and all of its celebrations and successes. Thank you, Director | Cherie Stroud
