School Goals
State Goals
Safe & Welcoming Environment
Student achievement data shows strong evidence of growth in key areas. We are not at our desired levels, and specific areas of need are clear. We remain committed to our core belief that all students can and will learn. We believe that strong practices make strong practitioners, our school works steadfastly to build and support highly effective instructional strategies. We implement an aligned curriculum to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to learn with access to the same content, knowledge, skills and quality instruction across our system.
The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.
We believe that both academic and social/emotional growth improve when schools establish a positive and rigorous culture. All staff work together to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. We strive to have consistent rules and expectations across our schools and settings. We explicitly teach and reinforce these expectations, while recognizing positive choices in consistent and engaging ways. We work to develop relationships that model respect, trust, collaboration, and cultural awareness. This positive culture ensures that our teachers are ready to teach and our students are ready to learn.

About Our School BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Our school is committed to providing an engaging and productive learning environment in which students are free of harassment, intimidation, or bullying. Students are encouraged to speak up when issues arise, and systems are in place for reporting concerns. We emphasize social/emotional learning that focuses on respect and positive choices. We work closely with community partners to support students. We take proactive measures to develop school wide Safety and Crisis plans. The A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) preparedness model is our proactive plan to protect and safeguard staff and students against unforeseen harm. This includes regular practice of emergency protocols in all schools.
Our school offers a variety of enrichment opportunities that serve as an extension of our educational programming. These activities provide valuable lessons for such life-long skills as teamwork, time management, hard work, problem solving, and self-confidence. Activities also serve as an extension of the classroom and can allow for enrichment opportunities that may not be offered during the regular school day. Please reference our school webpage, or contact the school office, for specific offerings.
Student success depends upon a strong partnership between parents/guardians and school staff. Our staff work together to provide a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that invites parent participation. This is accomplished through guest visits, classroom support, assisting with family events, and participating in our parent organizations. We engage in twoway communication that honors families’ language and cultural needs. We keep parents apprised of their child’s academic and behavioral progress during regular reporting intervals and individual school contacts with families. We place an emphasis on partnering with families to ensure regular and ‘on-time’ attendance.
In partnership with local businesses and agencies, we work to ensure every student comes to school ready to learn. For example, nearby businesses and churches facilitate such events as clothing and food drives, seasonal meals/gifts and generously provide regular donations of student/families resources. We also benefit from partnerships with local health and mental health agencies that support the social/emotional/physical needs of our students. We appreciate an active education foundation that supports the arts, teacher innovation, OBOB, our TAG program and partnerships with business who support an annual Gift of Literacy event for all first graders.
