Safe & Welcoming Environment
Foster Elementary made significant gains during the 20182019 school year. We have always prioritized academic growth. In English Language Arts, we had 46% of our students meet or exceed and in Math we had 41% of our students meet or exceed. In Math we were right at the state average. Foster Elementary is looking for continuous improvement in academic scores. All staff are committed to the high achievement of all students. We look forward to another successful year! If you have any questions, please call 541-367-7180.
The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.
At Foster Elementary, we strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students. Each year we practice our safety plans numerous times throughout the year, to increase staff training. We work to make sure all students, parents, and families feel safe in the school environment. This year we have added a safety vestibule, classroom intercom system, and security cameras. It is our hope that these new features will help promote a safe environment for all stakeholders.

As part of our safety practices, we take preventative measures to make sure students feel safe at school, including:
Foster Elementary provides the following opportunities for students:
Each month, we send home a monthly newsletter detailing events and programs at the school. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and participate in their child's classroom. We also hold conferences two times a year for parents to discuss their child's academic success.
At Foster, we host a number of community engagement activities. Each year we have Open House at the beginning of the year for parents to meet teachers and staff. We also have Dr. Seuss Night in the spring to celebrate literacy. Lastly, we host a Science and Math night in the spring to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math activities.

Safe & Welcoming Environment
At Sweet Home Junior High School, "students are our business." As a professional learning community, we are committed to giving each child, every chance to achieve their potential by focusing on four priority areas: 1. Outstanding Achievement
At Sweet Home Junior High, we use several different platforms to connect with stakeholders in our school community: monthly newsletters or notes sent home with the students, direct mailers, auto-call attendance alerts, personal phone calls, parent emails and posts to school social media pages. This year, we will also be utilizing the Remind App to assist staff and coaches in communicating with parents about school events. Throughout the year, we also provide ongoing training to students and staff in SRP safety protocols and PBIS systems.

About Our School BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Sweet Home Junior High implements the Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS) framework. PBIS provides clear, consistent expectations for student conduct and relationships. We provide students with ongoing instruction and training on how to respond to and report conflict. Our school works with students, our counselor, school staff, and parents on a case-by-case basis to address conflict between students and to provide counseling for harassment and consequences for bullying behaviors. We provide staff with early training to recognize bullying and provide strategies for intervention. As a member of SafeOregon, we provide students, parents, school staff and our community a way to report safety threats or potential acts of violence 24/7 at safeoregon.com.
Sweet Home Junior High school is proud to offer our students high interest, academic focused extracurricular and cocurricular activities: · Band and Choir
Sweet Home Junior High strives to engage all of our parents by providing language supports for parents where English is their second language. With 24 hours notice, interpreters may be provided for parent conferences and other school meetings where parents are present. Twice a year, our school holds student-led conferences to provide parents regular opportunities to be informed on their child's academic progress. Parents will receive formal reports on academic progress at the middle and end of each term. Parents of student athletes are invited to attend parent meetings at the start of each season to review league rules and participation expectations.
Sweet Home is the place to be! Sweet Home Junior High school is in the final phase of a renovation project, funded by a community bond extension passed in the spring of 2018. Construction work is scheduled to be completed in April 2020. School Goals
State Goals
Safe & Welcoming Environment
At Sweet Home H.S., we work as a Team to create a learning community where every student is taught and learns grade level content. That focus and our belief in "one town, one school, one family - Husky Pride" gives each student, every chance to achieve their potential. We will again focus on attendance, our number of 9th grade students on-track for graduation and our senior graduation rate.
As evidenced by our ongoing building projects, Sweet Home School District strives to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all. We will: • Establish a long-term plan that supports the continuous improvement of our facilities. • Improve district safety and security by strengthening safety plans, increasing staff training, and providing comprehensive oversight. • Offer welcoming and inspiring facilities. • Modernize learning environments and increase access to updated technology.
