State Goals
Safe & Welcoming Environment
At Lee Elementary School we are dedicated to creating a positive, safe, and enjoyable learning environment for all students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our positive learning environments integrate effective instructional strategies and practices that promote success for all students.
The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.
Our school staff works hard to ensure Lee Elementary School is a safe and welcoming environment for all students, families, and community members. We accomplish this by creating close partnerships with the caring adults in our children’s lives; promoting school expectations that emphasize the importance of respect and responsibility while teaching problem solving skills; and maintaining meaningful communication with our families.

About Our School BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Lee Staff takes school safety very seriously. We provide a safe, secure learning environment for all students by expecting all stakeholders to model respectful, responsible, safe behavior. All students participate in social-emotional learning lessons and our Lee school wide Positive Behavior Support Program (PBIS). Lee School is a secure campus with badge scanner entries on all external doors used throughout the school day. We follow bullying, harassment, and safety policies outlined in our district’s Students’ Rights & Responsibilities Handbook.
We are excited to offer our students and families many activities that enhance their academic experience at Lee Elementary School. Some of these activities include: Oregon Battle of the Books, Bilingual Battle of the Books, Outdoor School (6th grade), field trips in every grade, Student Council, Yearbook Club, Reading Mentors, Art Literacy, Family Nights, PSU Literacy Classes, After-School Enrichment Classes, and Spanish Literacy.
The importance of positive family/school partnerships are valued by all Lee Staff members. We strive to build trusting and authentic relationships that will improve student success. These important connections are built through a variety of ways, some of which include: regular communication in home language, volunteering at school or with PTO, attending Family Night or after school activities, joining school sponsored parenting classes, and many more.
We are very appreciative of our community partnerships and acknowledge the value they bring to our students’ education at Lee Elementary School. Through organizations such as The Canby Center, Kiwanis, local Churches, various Business partners and the Lee PTO we are able to provide our students access to the Reading Mentor program, weekly Backpack Buddies, Terrific Kids awards/celebrations, field trips, guest speakers and various other resources for families.

Safe & Welcoming Environment
At Baker Prairie Middle School we work hard to create a positive, safe, and welcoming environment where students can excel both in academics and social emotional learning. Our focus on AVID school-wide is for all students to learn the strategies and tools needed to be college and career ready. Our students benefit from our Spanish Dual Immersion Program. When our students demonstrate that they are productive contributors to our community we feel success and pride.
Our school strives to ensure all students and their families feel safe and welcome by embedding a focus on equity within all of our professional development offerings and school improvement efforts. We affirm the identity of each student, acknowledge and celebrate differences to create a sense of belonging for each student and promote unity. The physical safety and emotional well-being of all children in our school and District is paramount.

Safety is a top priority. We strive daily to provide a safe, secure learning environment for all students. We have a link on our website where students, parents, staff, and community members can anonymously report bullying/harassment. BPMS administration investigates and follows up on every report. Our student leadership team promotes safety, inclusivity, and acceptance in our school. All students go through multiple lessons about cyberbullying and social media etiquette through our advisory program. We follow bullying, harassment, and safety policies outlined in our district’s Students’ Rights & Responsibilities Handbook.
We are excited that our students have the opportunity to participate in: Band/Choir Festival, Builders Club, Chess Club, Drama, Intramural Sports, Jazz Band, Open Art Studio, Oregon Battle of the Books, Travel Opportunities: DC, Korea Studies Program, Art Explorers. In addition, Todos Juntos is also an active part of our school and provides resources and after school educational opportunities for our atrisk students.
Baker Prairie values and recognizes that parents/families are our strongest partners. While we encourage parent volunteers and engagement, we recognize that this is an area for continued growth. We welcome any feedback and/or suggestions. Some of the ways we provide school wide communication and engagement opportunities are: Above and Beyond Postcards, Homework Emails, Principal Newsletters, Parent Conferences, PTO, Spring Open House, Cultural Night.

About Our School ADVANCED COURSEWORK
CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
PARENT & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
CHS provides all students options for advanced academics. In most content areas, lower division students have an advanced class option, comprised of more rigorous classes to prepare them for future studies. All students have “Advanced Placement” (AP) classes or other advanced options. These include: AP US History, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Calculus , AP English, AP Spanish Language. Students take advantage of our numerous dual credit options through our partnering higher education institutions. Currently, there are over 40 classes that offer dual credit to our students, and this year we plan to offer more classes through the Oregon Tech Wilsonville Campus. Finally, students can enroll in Clackamas Community College through the Extended Options Program.
The foundation of our CTE programs is our Future Focus career education class, required of all sophomores, which provides experience for every student in career exploration and job shadows as a basis for future studies. Students have the opportunity to enroll in any of the following Programs of Study, with dual credit options:Accounting, Agriculture, Construction, Early Childhood Education, Graphic ArtsM, anufacturing, Marketing. Currently, CHS is developing a multimedia program with a focus on video production/journalism. We have an automotive science partnership with World of Speed. Additionally, we’ve partnered with the Microsoft TEALS program to launch our first computer science classes and look forward to developing a full program of study.
With 18 competitive teams, Canby students participate in many traditional OSAA sports as well as club sports like snowboarding, lacrosse, and rugby. Of note, our equestrian team (OHSET) is distinguished, winning many regional and individual awards. Our dance team is currently looking to continue its winning streak with a sixth straight state championship! CHS also excels in the fine and performing arts. With classes like jazz band and concert choir to sculpture and advanced photography, our students have many opportunities for artistic expression. Our competitive choir is regarded as one of the state’s best, regularly placing in state championships. As for our 25 student clubs, our robotics teams, FFA, and FBLA chapters consistently win numerous chapter and individual competitions.
Canby is an exceptionally supportive community that values its schools. CHS welcomes families in a variety of ways, and we work to empower them as partners in education. From our Open House to curriculum night and transition activities for incoming students, we provide opportunities for parents to learn about our school and connect with staff. Each trimester we provide parent conferences and present info. sessions on topics from college preparedness and financial aid to athletic eligibility and teen issues. We use multiple social media platforms to keep families informed and connected. In addition, with the help of the High School Success Act, we’ve expanded our support to our Latino community with Spanish language programs and information to help all families be successful partners.
