Dear Parents and Community Members, Scappoose High School is proud of the achievements of our students. Key academic highlights: · 81.5% met/exceeded state standards in English Language Arts; this is 10.4% above the state average and a 1% decrease over last year · 77.3% met/exceeded state standards for Science; this is 19.5% above the state average and a 5.3% increase over last year · 45.3% met/exceeded state standards for Math, this is 10.1% above the state average and an 11.3% increase over last year Scappoose High School continues to be a state leader in both graduation and attendance rates. We will be continuing to implement a number of changes for the 2017-2018 school year. A few examples of these changes will be the continued
development of Professional Learning Communities, the use of Measures of Academic Progress to measure student growth, and professional development for all of our staff members in the use of AVID instructional strategies. We are also excited about the implementation of 3 week long JTerms at the end of each 15 week semester. Initial data on J-Term indicates lower failure rates, higher rates of remediation and credit recovery as well as an increase in positive student behaviors. The staff of Scappoose High School is dedicated to the process of continuous improvement and building upon our past success.
