After conducting thousands of interviews and working with truck owners around the world to find out how they used their vehicles, their likes, what they wished the vehicle had, and their experiences, Ford South Africa has engineered the Next-Gen Ranger to be the smartest, most versatile, and most capable Ranger yet for customers.

This approach has helped design and engineer the Next-Gen Ranger with what customers have dreamt of. The truck has been put through its limits across some of the toughest terrain around the world to ensure that it’s capable and ready for our customers, but at the same time meets Ford’s world-class quality, reliability, and durability standards.

With a rugged new look and a variety of new features that elevate productivity, capability and versatility, the Next-Gen Ranger has been designed to go more places while working harder, offering more comfort and refinement than ever before.

Customers expect their vehicles to go above and beyond, so testing scenarios matched what customers might put their pickup through. In addition, the tests took place at facilities across the world to ensure that this Ranger meets the needs and wants of all customers.

Visually, the look is bold and confident, with an exterior that shares Ford’s global truck design DNA. Features include a defined new grille and signature C-clamp headlight treatment at the front, while a subtle shoulder line down the sides and bolder wheel-arches give the Ranger a

buffed-up stance. The pickup now offers matrix LED headlights, and the taillights are designed with signature graphics on the front.

Inside, the cabin feels like a car – premium soft-touch materials have been used, and a huge centre touchscreen that includes SYNC®4 connectivity and entertainment system ticks all the boxes for tech-savvy owners.

Under the hood the Next-Gen Ranger offers the following: • A single turbo engine which comes in two different performance levels, offering 110kW and 350Nm, and 125kW and 405Nm. • Ford’s proven 2,0-litre Bi-Turbo that makes 155kW and 500Nm. • 3,0-litre V6 turbodiesel makes up to 184kW of power and 600Nm of torque. • The Raptor comes equipped with a high performance 3,0-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 that delivers 292kW and 583Nm.

In terms of versatility, this vehicle offers an array of organisation and storage solutions to secure cargo. Fitting accessories can be customised, for instance, owners can create segmented DIY storage spaces in so many ways.

There are tie-downs mounted in the bed, sliding cleats that can be adjusted into nine positions to help secure cargo, while external tie-down rails make securing bulky loads easier. And the new rear load box access step is the result of truck owners saying what they wanted from their next vehicle.

box capping have been added making it easy to fit accessories like a canopy, cross bars or a tent, which makes the Next-Gen Ranger the most versatile ever.

There’s more storage space in the cabin as well – from under the seat storage to retractable cup holders and a raft of cubby holes all over. There’s even room under the bonnet for a second battery, and the vehicle has been wired with auxiliary switches which make it easier to add accessories like driving lights, a winch and more.
