Interview by: Duwyne Clayton
Hi guys thank you for featuring in Fanbase Music Magazine: can you tell us how it started for the band? Miles & Neil had known each other a lifetime, and had played in various bands, but never together. They got chatting one day and started playing in the garage with a drum machine called Kevin; a friend had a drum kit lying around, and Al was a drummer (and Neil’s brother at the same time,) so he got dragged in, kicking and screaming all the way. A multitude of influences met to make one cohesive beast was born.
What genre of music would you classify your band in? Many people who have seen or heard our material have battled to slot us into any specific genre. I suppose we can be classed as Alternative Classic Rock, since we have a mixture of old-school alternative eighties with tentacles into early nineties rock.
Can you tell us something a bit about each member of the band? Neil (bass, vocals,) has been a musician since childhood. He’s been in a number of unheard-of bands since the nineties, playing different instruments. He noticed a certain dearth of bass guitarists in the industry, so decided to drop other instruments in favour of the bass – and has since
learnt to live his instrument with a fervour which belies his frantic beating of said instrument. He also has the longest tongue on the West Rand.
Miles (guitar, vocals,) has likewise been musically trained since an early age: he’s been in bands for some time now, some of which enjoyed airplay in the heyday of the early South African music scene such as Just Jinjer and The Springbok Nude Girls. His self-deprecating fashion of playing guitar is contradicted by the fact that some of the riffs the fans have come to love are akin to those of international lead guitarists everywhere. He’s also an accountant.
Al (drums,) has played a range of instruments for most of his life; he, similarly to his brother Neil, came to notice a certain lack of drummers in the industry, so decided that guitar was boring enough to ignore. He replaced the band’s drum machine not long after its inception to bring a far more eclectic sound and beat to what was, to his ears, a stagnant sound without his stick frenzies. He’s also a biker without a bike.
“I suppose we can be classed as Alternative Classic Rock, since we have a mixture of old -school alternative eighties with tentacles into early nineties rock
Who is the song writer in the band and where do you get your inspiration from? Miles often finds the riff, Neil makes the bass all fancy and Al adds the drive. Sometimes Neil writes the riff, Miles makes the guitar simple and Al adds the drive…you get the picture. Song structure etc. derives from playing it and the subsequent natural evolution of the song. Lyrics are a mix: Mile & Neil writes, occasionally there is outside input. However, the music from the first distorted note to the drumbeat is written by the entire band – would you have a heart surgeon mess with your brain? I didn’t think so. If we have never been to one of your gigs, what could we expect if we were to attend? Our gigs tend to be a little out of the ordinary: we tend to stand quite still until such time as something happens, be it screams from a member of the audience or an old unwanted bra sailing through the air. Afterwards, nobody knows – the moves on stage tend to be a little static until such time as an idea appears in one of the fans’ or band members’ heads…then all hell could break loose…within reason, of course…there’s also a fair amount of sarcasm, some terrible jokes and fun all round.
Do you have any rituals before a gig? We try not to drink too much, as drunken people miss notes, sing out of key and drop drumsticks. There’s the obvious tuning and checking of essential equipment while not drinking too much.
Can you name some of your achievements? The band’s achievements have been far and wide: apart from being selected for varying competitions, which invariably leads to an entry into the final of said competition, they have also managed to bridge the gap between a few generations, in that their music is attractive to those of a, shall we say, previous generation, but lively and intuitive enough for the younger crowd to get into as well.
How can people get hold of you, do you have any social media? We are quite active on both Facebook and Soundcloud, and our provisional manager, Sophie, is always available for arrangements. Look us up on https://www.facebook.com/groups/no.regret.za/ for gig updates as well as https://soundcloud.com/regret for downloads and new songs as and when they become available. Thank you for doing this interview, do you have any last messages for your fans or our readers? Since we’re among the “older” people still hanging around and doing this, our advice to our peers would be to not give up, keep it real and Long Live the NR!! Keep an ear open and an eye peeled, we’re not giving up yet… Thank you for the opportunity to be featured on Fanbase Music Magazine!

Dogg Day afternoon article by : Chantel Van der Walt It's a dog eat dog world, so why not rock it? This is the general consensus behind Dogg Day Afternoon, a new South African hard rock band, formed in early 2014 in Johannesburg, by local musos Darren Horne and Michelle Rieder. 'Dogg' derived from the urban dictionary reference as a 'friend' or 'homie', is definitive of how they describe the personality of their band - friends creating music for friends. Recently joined by Leon van Zyl (lead guitar), Chad Jutronich (bass) and Jadd Stein on drums, this new five-piece are hard at work building an arsenal of original hard rock songs to share at local venues. Watch this space.
Chantel Van der walt and Tania Meyer On Monday night around 19:30 we got a very interesting call from a band we have chosen to be our February month front cover. Thanks to Skype we got to chat with Lieutenant Vinyl, and we thanked them for taking time out in there busy life’s to chat with us. Picture this Paul Edy, Brett Edy and Michael Wagner on a laptop screen, and Tania and myself watching them, and having a good chin wag about their band. Ok, just a little back ground info on the band, Paul is the front man singer with his guitar, Brett is Bass and Michael plays drums.
You guys rocked a night away with Seether at Chris Saunders Park and Jeremy Loops, tell us how it was? We had a nice Acoustic set with the guys and we had a chance to hang out with some important people and feel a little cool while doing so. We chilled in the tent and we absolutely had a blast, was an evening to remember. We could say this was the highlight for 2013, oh and hearing our music played on 5fm fresh drive.
What does 2014 have installed for you guys? We have three recorded songs at the moment, and we heading up to Pretoria in April to record another two songs for our next LP to be released, with Brent Quinton at Hit Record studios. Our old EP was recorded at Omega studios with Ant Govender, We are recording some new songs with Fourie Smith and the new EP will be mastered by Fourie Smith up in Joburg.
As a band who writes the music and what inspires you to write your songs? Paul is our writer, and the rest just all falls in place as we create our music. Everyday life is what inspires me to write songs. If I could tell story’s with my music I would, it just goes on and on.
Where did the name Lieutenant Vinyl, come from? Paul made a joke and wanted to name the band Lieutenant Vinyl as they used to spend a lot of time listening to vinyls with their father in the garage. Our first LP release has a picture of a lieutenant on it.
What would you say is your genre of music, as a band? Grunge/alternative rock is our genre and we like it that way.
What are your Influences? We like Foo Fighters, Wolfmother, Velvet Revolver and Pearl Jam, even a bit of Heavy metal on the side.
What was your worst gig ever? From the drummers mouth himself, “We were playing at a gig up in the Berg, Smoking Dragon, they didn’t have a drum chair, so I had to use a bar chair, I didn’t think this was going to be a problem, so while jamming this mean set on stage I kept pulling the drum set closer to me, and then BAM I saw stars, there I was lying on the floor, I had fallen off the stage, Paul and Bret where like where did the drummer go, I stormed to the stage very grumpy, very cranky, but we manage to finish the set, I truly think that was our worst gig ever.” But we did have a good laugh about it later.
When you’re not doing band stuff, what else do you do in your daily life routine? We put our time in church, Paul is a pastor at church and Michael does youth groups at the same church, we would truly like to break the stigma of Christians and hope people will see even rock stars can be Christians and have fun. Brett use to be an architect.
Where can we find the band chilling? @Iwantcoffee shop in Gate way, where we sip our days away on chilli capuchinos, highly recommended. They would like to thank Ard Matthews for all the time and effort that’s been put in to develop this new aged rock and roll band Lieutenant Vinyl.

Explosive love tonic for Old Mutual Music at the Lake The 2014 season of Old Mutual Music at the Lake kicks off with an explosive love theme –Gangs of Ballet and the Durban City Orchestra join forces for a Valentine’s Day concert on Friday, 14 February at the Durban Botanic Gardens. This one is for music lovers who want a break from the mainstream; something different, fun and beautiful. Gangs of Ballet’s music has been described as a blend of new sounds with haunting melodies and arrangements. Add to that the scale and richness of the Durban City Orchestra’s renditions – you have the perfect scene to experience the expression of love in new ways. “This is a mind and soul-blowing collaboration that has challenged our comfort zones,” said Gangs of Ballet lead vocalist and lead guitarist Brad Klynsmith. “We have created some very special music in the process” Durban City Orchestra chairman Edrich de Lange meanwhile said because love is one of the greatest human drivers and emotions – it has preoccupied artists and poets from time immemorial. “We believe our show presents a different dimension in the expression of love. While our full complement of 45 musicians will stir emotions – it is the live experience with the fans that will make the clouds peel. We cannot wait to share the experience with music lovers”. To set the scene, they will perform chart toppers from the Gangs of Ballet EP such as “Hello Sweet World” and “Breaking the Silence” and their enchanting new single, “Daydream” from their recently released debut offering, “yes/no/grey”. Romantic hounds are in for another treat. It is the height of summer and the Durban Botanic Gardens is looking its prettiest. “The Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert series is all about using music to celebrate what nature serves us and with the Gardens displaying its best blooms, the sights and setting will be as special as the music,” said Old Mutual sponsorship manager Bandile Mngoma. “We invite everyone to join us with their loved ones to celebrate nature and love as we start a beautiful year that promises great things.” Old Mutual’s continued relationship with the Botanic Gardens allows them to ensure that funds are raised to maintain and improve biodiversity at this significant public space. “and in other news” Brian “Head” Welsh from Korn fame cousin’s son held hostage ARVADA, Colo. — Police responded in force to a hostage situation in east Arvada on Monday night, and officers were still negotiating with an armed suspect who had taken a 13-year-old hostage inside a residence on Tuesday morning. Traffic was blocked off for several blocks near the intersection of West 60th Avenue and Gray Street as of 5:30 p.m. Monday. Monday night police said the suspect, who was being considered armed and dangerous, has a criminal record. As of early Tuesday morning, the situation was still ongoing, with police saying that the 13-year-old boy was being held hostage inside the residence, and that the suspect and teen hostage do not know each other. “We have been in contact with the suspect,” Arvada Police spokesperson Jill McGranahan said. “We’re working very hard to end this situation peacefully.” 11am briefing scheduled from @ArvadaPolice as a 13-year-boy has been held hostage for nearly 16 hours. http://t.co/GWfFSRK7MU— KDVR FOX31 Denver (@KDVR) February 04, 2014 Police said they evacuated much of the surrounding area as a precaution. The standoff began around 5:30 p.m. Monday when the suspect picked a random home in the neighborhood and kicked the door down, McGranahan said. Inside the home was a family, some of whom escaped unharmed, she said. However, the suspect was able to take the 13-year-old boy hostage. McGranahan said the suspect has been monitoring TV and Internet news and has been talking to negotiators about what he sees. The suspect contacted FOX31 Denver reporter Julie Hayden and talked about his situation. At the request of Arvada police, we are not publishing what the man said until after the standoff ends. Meanwhile on the 4th Feb Brian “Head” Welsh from Korn fame went on Facebook saying that the boy who is being held hostage is actually the rocker’s cousins son. We at Fanbase Music Magazine pray for the little boy’s safe return and justice is brought to the kidnappers.
Quarantine crowned winners of Soundwave music competition 2014! It was a fabulous night with some very talented acts playing in this year’s Soundwave music competition. Bands travelled from far and wide to compete in this extreme event, one band in particular travelled over ten hours to be there and so did their many fans to watch them play. Although the competition was steep, with some talented bands taking part, Quarantine was the band who ended up taking the first place in these awards. The point to SoundWave Music Competition is to give unsigned acts of all genres and types the chance to impress in front of industry professionals while having fun and the chance to win useful top prizes including full days recording in the best recording studio, a slot to play on the main stage at the Academy venues within the UK, Live slots to play on radio and to be interviewed for magazine and press coverage, tons of fully mastered CD's, Live photo shoot and lots more. Fanbase would like to congratulate the band and hope it just gets better from here.
Adorned in Ash’s Robyn Ferguson to be guest vocalist on the new “Forfeit the Untrue” album Two of the country’s top Christian metal acts are about to join forces on the new Forfeit the Untrue. Forfeit the Untrue announced on their Facebook page after much speculation that Adorned in Ash’s lead vocalist will be making a guest appearance on the new FTU album. After speaking to Robyn Ferguson she had this to say about this Collaboration. “It's always nice to work with other artists in the scene. The boys called me up and said hey, would you like to feature and I said sure why not. They have a cool thing going and I'm honored to work with them” Forfeit the untrue’s Craig Palmer goes on to explain “we are all very excited and honored to work with Robyn for our full album. Aside from AiA being such a sick live band and down-to-earth humble guys, they have been our friends since we started gigging. Robyn has an amazing talent and intensity to her vocal ability and range, which is exactly what we are/were looking for in a guest vocalist and for our full album. We are going much bolder, heavier and more intense than our EP, and she is the perfect person to help us add to that. “ This is apparently the first announcement of a host of other musicians who will be featuring on the album, apparently another local frontman who is very respected and talented across the metal and rock scene in South Africa and an international guest vocalist in one of the biggest bands in the world in the Christian metal genre. But there is still no news on who those people are who will be making guest appearances. Keep a look out on the FTU facebook page for more updates. Forfeit the Untrue hit the studio early Feb to begin recording and the album should be out early next year
Joshua Grierson at The House of Machines ~ Review and photos by Rene Maritz Friday night a friend and I headed out to watch Joshua Grierson play at The House of Machines located on 84 Shortmarket St, Cape Town. A shop featuring many a delight for the men! Upon arriving the place welcomed us in with its rustic masculine feel. Warm chocolate brown walls, wooden countertops, wooden sleepers on the ceilings, splashes of red and a vintage look greeted us. Geared towards men, the place sells all kinds of gadgets, ‘toys’ and personal items that appeal to the male species, ranging from invigorating body wash to clothing and the like. The House of Machines are stockists of ‘Thom’ work wear which boasts a hardy work wear feel to their product. Another unique part of the shop features ‘La Machina’ –staff that will source, fabricate and assist in building unique bikes from the ground up. When looking around I noticed helmets on the walls and a huge wall display featuring all kinds of tools and bike parts, especially for bike enthusiasts. The walls have beautifully framed pictures. I noticed Steve McQueen in one and memories of watching his movies as a child came rushing back with a bittersweet longing for moments from yesteryear. A good size bar operates like clockwork with waiters and barman serving all those needing their thirsty appetites quenched. The House Of Machines is generally a shop for the ‘manly man’. Despite the venue/shop/bar being a place for men, (you could truly feel the male testosterone oozing out of every little corner of the room), I noticed many lovely female forms occupying the place. This hardly comes as a surprise, as what would a man’s world be without us (smiles). My friend ordered a ‘Fitch & Leeds’ lemonade and I had the ginger ale - deliciously refreshing and very tasty. Later in the evening we ordered two coffees. Now this coffee needs a special mention. I not only love coffee, I I LOVE coffee, but this coffee brand
is one of the best I have ever tasted…rich, creamy and darkly roasted, just the way I like it. If anything, I would certainly pay the place a visit again purely to experience the taste of the ‘Evil Twin’ 100% certified organic Arabica beans, roasted in Spain. Grown in the rich fertile soils of Honduras, Evil Twin beans are sourced from a single estate, where they are shade-grown, free from any of the pesticides, chemically-drenched fertilizers or crap that might find its way into your cup. So if you are in the area and wanting for a decent coffee, be sure to pop right in.
The reason for the evening had arrived! People eagerly turned their eyes to Joshua as he took to the stage. Joshua had been invited to play and sing for the month of January 2014. The last 2 years I've counted it a privilege and honour to watch Joshua play on several occasions at various venues in and around Cape Town. I am left speechless after each of his shows, coming away feeling richer for the experience. He has been around for many years and has performed at all the major music festivals including Synergy last year. I do not use this word lightly, as art is a gift bestowed upon just a few privileged enough to be born with it. This gift is an expression of creativity and imagination which comes to life. It is visual and upon witnessing has the capacity to move you with its beauty.
It possesses an emotional power that sets your heart on fire. Joshua Grierson embodies all of this, as he works his art on that stage. To me it’s like looking at a blank canvas and watching an artist pick up his brush and add colour, shape and form to what was a blank canvas - molding and shaping it into a masterpiece! A work of brilliance and passion for all those that want to see and feel. Joshua’s deep, powerful lyrics stir and wow you from the moment he starts until the very end. Lauren Fowler took to the stage to accompany him with his song 'Papa's Got A House' - goosebumps literally. A special mention must be made to Wesley Reyneke on background percussion. The evening sadly drew to a close. The people had danced, cheered and clapped loudly throughout the evening (no wonder). I hope to see Joshua perform again at The House Of Machines as he seemed to just complete the picture, if you know what I mean. Joshua released his doubledisc live CD at a live show at Alma Café last year - a night that came alive. It is available for purchase on http:// joshuagrierson.bandcamp.com - take a listen. If you would like to find out more about Joshua and catch him at a venue close to you, check out his Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/ joshuagriersonmusic. AXECESS JOZI BRINGS BIG SEAN Newtown’s Mary Fitzgerald Square in downtown Joburg was buzzing with the most stylish peeps this past Saturday night when thousands partied it up at AXECESS JOZI to sounds of the hottest local urban acts ahead of international hip-hop megastar Big Sean. The crowd was energetic from the minute gates opened in the early afternoon. DJ Dimplez and Khenzero got the crowd moving as they showed off their ‘assets’ early on in the day. The line-up for the day/night urban mega-festival consisted of Reason, Teargas, Khuli Chana, Da Les, AKA, and of course, the man himself Big Sean, who brought the house down. Pyrotechnics were in place and fireworks literally exploded on stage as one local artist followed the next. AKA and Khuli Chana, were clearly crowd favourites as they played their hit singles 'Jealousy' and 'Tswakstikem' before Grammy-nominated Big Sean burst onto stage to perform his chart-topping internationally renowned tracks off his latest album ‘Hall Of Fame’. Not even a little rain could keep the crowd from moving and shaking to Big Sean’s beats. Media partner, Channel O’s Dineo Moeketsi kept the packed audience entertained between acts, while those in the VVIP Titanium area, set up only for exclusive AXECESS guests, were rubbing shoulders with celebrities and the most stylish fans from all over the country. Not only did Titanium guests have the best seats in the house, they had AXECESS to the concert in 3D, courtesy of cutting-edge technology delivered by SkyRoomLive.com. A first in South Africa, AXE, through partnership with SkyRoomLive, com, live streamed – in 3D – the entire AXECESS Jozi festival to a record 354,000 fans around the globe, who logged onto SkyRoomLive.com to watch it all unfold. While AXE angels were strutting their stuff, providing the right amount of eye candy, lucky AXECESS winners also had the chance to meet their idol, Big Sean, who posed for photos and was overwhelmed by the positive response he received from his fans. The AXE photo booth was constantly filled with fans having their photos taken showing off their fresh swag and upping their Gpoints. ‘We want to thank all the fans who came out to Newtown with such energy to party with us at AXECESS Jozi. Not only did Big Sean nail it, but I am really proud of the South African hip hop artists for showing off the talent we have in this country! We cannot wait for the next one!’ said Vincent Viviers, brand manager for AXE South Africa. #AXECESSJozi Facebook:http://www.facebook.com/axesouthafrica Official Website:http://www.axecess.com Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/axe_sa

Press Conference Review
CHANNEL O AND AXECE
On Saturday the 1st February I got to go to the Channel O and Axecess Jozi Press Conference, all in anticipation of the Big Sean concert that would be held on the very same night. Axe and Channel O have come together to bring us Big Sean and also some of our homegrown hip hop artists to perform for just one night. Teargas was first to be interviewed. Now Teargas is one of the best in the country and has proven it time and again with their amazing albums. I couldn't help but ask them if and when they will have a female collaboration anytime soon, I mean come on, they do need some pink in there, and they say they've been searching but with no luck as yet. I never imagined they would be so humble and very sweet. Okay can I say Da Les and A.K.A are crazy, lol, those two are definitely having fun while working. I got super excited when Reason came on, only because we went to high school together and it’s great to see him making a name for himself out there. He mentioned that he writes music from his heart and from his own personal experiences.
ESS JOZI PRESS CONFERENCE
Which I guess is working for him because he's is quickly becoming one of SA's favorites. Now, okay....Big Sean, wow!!!!!! *sigh* he gets there, with his mom, friends and family in tow. Shame he was exhausted, jet lag, and sound check then press conference? Ooohhh but gosh he's so cute. He said he would be in the country for a few days, going on safari, check out some lions and chill. He also sounded very excited about Axcess Jozi and performing along our country's finest, who knows maybe we will be seeing more of him in the future, seeing as Axe will be doing more concerts and they will eventually be going across the country for more of their Axecess concerts. How did you get into photography? My father gave me an old camera of his, a Canon A1, when I was 12/13 years old. I immediately started shooting 1st team rugby games for my high school newspaper, which eventually led to my first freelance job as a photographer working for Beeld newspaper covering schools sporting events. I was also working weekends in a Kodak express shop at the time. What camera are you currently using? I don’t own a camera currently. I have amazing friends in the photographic community who help me out with various equipment needs. With the exception of a semi/ permanent borrow of a Canon 550D. What do you like about Photography? I love photography for its beauty in showing a moment the naked eye could never see. A measured and controlled fraction of time creating a glimpse into the world around us that we often miss out on. What style of Photography do you like? A good image is a good image. Very prolific, but I don’t have a specific style of photography that I prefer. I’m a fan of the new surrealist-pop photography movement. But overall, I have a great love for photos that show a keen understanding of subject, composition and equipment. Where do you see yourself in five years, in terms of your photography? More experienced and well-traveled. I really don't know what the future holds; I’m currently shooting a lot of Time-lapses of different situations which will hopefully open up some new avenues of photography for me. Who is your favourite photographer and why? David Lachapelle is a huge influence to me. His ability to create a scene that is so completely abstract and visually appealing, yet completely honest at the same time fascinates me. What advice do you have for upcoming photographers? Keep pushing. It’s a tough industry to crack that sometimes has very little reward, other than the satisfaction of a passion lived. How can people get hold of you? They can view my work on my blog: http://skrapping.wordpress.com or email me on: chrispreyser@gmail.com

Jon then joined forces with Jay Wilton in a band called Fight at the Opera, which blew audiences away with a memorable show at the Woodstock 2008 festival. Jon ‘lives in melody’ and makes no apologies for succumbing to passion and losing all sense of reality, in performance.
Jay Wilton Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer and performer, Jay began his music career as a drummer for local punk rock legends The Slashdogs. He later began composing his own works and started a band called The Cavalier which captured the attention of DStv channel MK where the band was nominated for best Animation and their song Roses are Dead, Heartbreak is True reached the number 2 spot in the Tuksfm Top 100 chart. Hi guys thank you for featuring in Fanbase Music Magazine, can you tell us how it all started for the band?
Who is the song writer in the band and where do you get your inspiration from?
Shan and I (Steve) were basketball buddies. We decided we wanted to start a band but didn't know how to play guitar. Ricardo was a friend of Shan who he asked to teach us. We started playing together. A few years later we asked Rael to be our drummer. And then we had our first show and we needed a name.
Shan - he used to (and probably still is) a pretty god basketball and soccer player.
Lyrically, Shan and Steve write the songs. Shan kinda writes as it comes to him and the songs are normally very interpretive. Steve's songs are a bit more pointed and say more on social issues. Yes that's clichéd to say (we're obviously not Rage Against the Machine) but hopefully they say more than just the regular "hey you’re a girl and you're gonna be mine tonight/oh woe is me I'll never get you". We have our influences. Individually they vary quite a bit with the regular overlaps. But mostly we actually inspire each other. Ric will play something. Steve will run with it. Shan will read Steve’s mind Oz will tap in and know exactly what we want. I think that's what pushes us. When we write a song it's never with any one thing inspiring us. It’s the bouncing off of each other that takes us in different directions.
Osswin - he’s having his second kid this year and is a huge Dave Grohl fan
If we have never been to one of your gigs, what could we expect if we were to attend?
Rocardo - has been playing in bands since at least 13 years old and is the most level headed guy in the world. Also he used to be a chef.
That's a difficult question to answer because half the time we don't know what to expect. The last show we played was exactly that as we hadn’t played together in two years and our first rehearsal for the show was sound check. We’ve had some very interesting experiences, from changing a song completely on the fly to singers jumping off stages and the rest of the band (singer included) not sure if he was gonna come back. But we like energetic shows. Getting people involved and really just getting people to feel something while we're up there
What genre of music would you classify your band in? You know everyone tries to classify themselves so specifically that it starts to get ridiculous. We play alternative rock. If you want a more specific (and I don't know how you get "more specific" than specific) then you’re going to have to listen to the music. Can you tell us a bit about each member of the band?
Steve - was (and probably still is) a pretty crap basketball player, loves lasagne and is the only unmarried member of the band.
Do you have any rituals before a gig? Steve Jumps up and down alot. Other than that this isn't a band that does the huddle thing. We kinda go, "well we're here to play a show, and all the screaming or fire breathing beforehand isn’t gonna do make a difference" so we go out and just play as good a show as we can. Can you name some of your achievements? We would love to rattle off a list. We got into Blunt Magazine once. Would you call being completely ignored an achievement? (except for your fine publication. And we're still not sure why you’d want us in. But thank you!) How can people get hold of you, do you have any social media? Well we're on Facebook and Twitter. We have a YouTube channel and a Sound Cloud account all with www.(whatever)/lyderkane Also we have a website that we're in the process of updating. Creatively enough it's called www.lyderkane.com Thank you for doing this interview, do you have any last messages for your fans or our readers? Well this would be for your readers as we have no fans. Sometimes you have to dig a bit deeper to find a real gem. We're not saying we're that gem. But there is so much talent in this country and we NEED the fans of the alternative genres to make their voices heard. Purge the silence in your soul Disclaimer: No irony was harmed during this interview.

VENUE:
Big Top Arena, Carnival City

Best-known for his signature laugh, deadpan delivery and edgy one-liners, UK comedian, Jimmy Carr is without a doubt one of the UK’s most hotly contested acts on the international stand-up circuit, and in early 2014 he’ll be performing in SA. Having played to over 1.5-million people on live tours around the world, Jimmy knows a thing or two about making people laugh; and local audiences can expect to laugh until they cry or their sides split – whichever comes first – during his latest show, Gagging Order, which will take place at the Big Top Arena at Carnival City in March. But a word of warning: Jimmy doesn’t pull any punches so be sure to bring an open mind – in fact UK newspaper, the Independent on Sunday, referred to him as being “as sick as he is slick”. And this is not a word of a lie – he’s famous for pushing boundaries so expect to be entertained beyond your expectations by this award-winning funnyman! His stand-up achievements to date include winning a British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand Up Tour and a Loaded LAFTA Award for Best Stand-Up. He has also received a Perrier Award nomination.
