Welcome from the Chairs Thank you everyone for coming to FanimeCon 2015. For over 20 years, FanimeCon has endured with the goal of being By Fans, For Fans. During that time, FanimeCon has evolved and changed and adapted along with our Fans. Our choices throughout the years have not been perfect, but the 1200 staff members and I continue to commit to bringing the fans together for one amazing weekend a year. Let’s start with one simple question. Why are you here? No seriously, why is it that you decided to spend your time and money to attend this convention? I believe that if you were here with me, that everyone’s answer would be different. There are so many things that drive us, that inspire us, that bring us joy and happiness present here at FanimeCon. About 10 years ago, I took on the challenge of being chairman. 6 years ago, I stepped back, believing that I had achieved all that I could achieve; I had no idea how wrong I was. For the past 6 years, FanimeCon and I have matured in ways that I never thought of, and the challenges we face now were beyond my imagination. I knew as I accepted the role for a second time, that this would be a year of change. My Vice Chairs, Eric and Evan, and myself have spent the last year learning to understand all of the various parts of the Convention; we wanted to see how all of the pieces of the clock work together. For a convention running as long as we have, this was not an easy task. This Convention runs entirely on the blood, sweat and tears of its volunteers. The question I ask myself, and some of my staffers is “why do you do it – why do you volunteer all these hours every year to bring this convention to life?” The best answer is you, the attendee. I remember my time attending conventions when I was younger; I remember my time attending conventions last year; Each experience brings along with it great memories and excitement. My only hope is that you can continue to find those lasting memories and friendships as FanimeCon continues to grow. We continue to face many challenges; We fill the hotels in San Jose beyond the breaking point. The halls of the hotels are filled with crowds of people. Anime is available at the push of a button in your living room, and on your phone. Cosplay has made it to numerous TV shows and movies. You can buy almost anything in the world through your computer and tablet.

By Fans, For Fans

How will FanimeCon face these challenges? The only way we know how, together with you – the attendees. We will do what we think is best to keep you entertained, and keep you coming back year after year. Thank you again, for all your support through all of our good and bad times.

Will Warriner Chairman of FanimeCon 2015

Hello and welcome fans, guests, staff, and friends to FanimeCon 2015. I am excited to kick off the first year of this Chair Team’s tenure at FanimeCon. Under the leadership of our Chairman Will Warriner, I, Eric Wu, join my fellow Vice-Chairman Evan James to make up your new FanimeCon 2015 Chair Team. I have proudly served on the FanimeCon staff since 2007 in various roles like Registration Minion, Fan Services Division Servicer, MusicFest Tech Guru, and Facilities Elf. I am honored to have another opportunity to serve in this new and wonderful role in the great organization that is FanimeCon. I look forward to fostering a lovely experience that all in attendance will have the opportunity to share. I recently listened to a talk about how human brains are wired for groups of twenty to thirty individuals but our present circles are often made up of groups of fewer than five people. They found that after tragic events like natural disasters, victims sometimes look fondly back on the experience because they had an opportunity to be part of a larger tribe once again. It’s not that the victims long to relive a horrible event, but that they miss the human connection and community during that experience. However, I am confident that such a bond does not necessarily need to come out of a negative experience. Each and every year of FanimeCon is a testament to this and the connections that we make over Memorial Day weekend are primal and strong. Every year at FanimeCon, I experience such a phenomenon and I hope that you will join me in making new connections and a closer community. As I have consistently told the staff, I am here to serve and to implement their ideas and desires. The same goes for the FanimeCon staff: we are all here to serve the fans and to realize what the fans dream of. However, I would also like to extend my humblest appreciation to the staff and all those that support FanimeCon. When you see our staff and volunteers on the concourse, I hope that you will thank them as well. I finally ask that you enjoy yourself so that you can make your experience and the experiences of those you meet as wonderful as mine. I look forward to seeing you smiling in the halls!

Eric Wu Vice-Chairman of FanimeCon 2015

Art by Finni Chang

Hello and welcome, everyone to FanimeCon 2015! I’m incredibly excited to be acting as one of your Vice Chairs for this year along with Eric Wu and our Chairman, Will Warriner. I have had the pleasure and privilege of being with FanimeCon for over 5 years and in such capacities as part of the Facilities Team, as an Extravaganzas Division Head and as one of your past Creative Directors. Throughout my tenure here, the people I have come to meet, know and love as a family has grown with each coming year. I honestly believe that what this amazing convention has been able to foster is so much more than just a group of people that share in a common interest. Instead, I see a thriving, caring and energetic community that comes together every year to both attend and plan a convention that above all else, seeks to celebrate fandom and its fans. Being one of the lucky individuals who helps to facilitate such a gathering is something I whole-heartedly treasure and with the help of a lot of great staff members, this year’s convention looks to be as awesome as ever and includes our usual awesome lineup, but also some things specifically unique to this year. One example being that since FanimeCon is turning 21 this year, we’ll be celebrating with a Casino Night where all members can partake, even those still under 21! This will be the inaugural year for our Chair Team and though I’m sure there will be challenges ahead, I’m really looking forward to working incredibly hard with everyone that comes together to make this convention happen. That of course, includes you! We’re all fans at this convention and this convention wouldn’t be possible without you. Literally. The smiles you carry with you when you’re enjoying yourselves drives each and every staff member to push ourselves even further to bring you the type of convention you look forward to. So, with all that said, thank you for being here with us and thank you for your smiles. Let’s make this year another to remember and once more, welcome to FanimeCon 2015!

He is credited for such titles as Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (director), Mahoromatic (director), Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise (director and writer), and will be writing/directing Aoki Uru (announced at the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2013).

Affectionately known as “Aipon,” Ai Nonaka has been an anime fan since childhood and became interested in voice acting after an encounter with Yu Yu Hakusho. Miss Nonaka was captain of her high school’s drama club and initially aimed to become a takarazuka actor, but later decided to pursue a career in voice acting. With memorable roles like Fuuko in the tearjerking CLANNAD, the overly positive Kafuka in the Sayonara Zetsubousensei series, and the spear-wielding Kyoko in Madoka Magica, there’s no doubt that fans are pleased with her choice to become a voice actress. FanimeCon is proud to host Miss Nonaka’s first appearance in the Western United States.

Kazuhiro Soeta (born in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan) has been involved in many classic anime series in various roles from Animator to Storyboard Artist, and even produced his own manga as well. Fans will recognize his work in Record of Lodoss War (Animation Director), The Vision of Escaflowne (Ending Key Animation), Cowboy Bebop (Opening Key Animation), and Turn A Gundam (Ending Key Animation). His more recent works include Ground Control (Storyboard), Psychoelectric Girl (Storyboard Artist) and Mekakucity Actors. Mr. Soeta published the Vampire AKIBA!! manga in 1999 which was later released as two bound volumes. During his time at Next Media Animation Japan, a Taiwan-based subsidiary of Hong Kong’s Next Media, Mr. Soeta produced Taiwanese NMA Studio’s pilot film, acting as director on the Japanese side and drawing storyboards for anime shorts. Anime fans both young and old will not want to miss his first stateside appearance!

Registration Info General

Registration is the first place to go when you arrive at FanimeCon 2015. With your valid photo ID, this is where you can pick up your membership badge (for fully paid, online registrations) or register and pay for membership at the convention. Please consult fanime.com/registration-faq/ for the Registration FAQ and hours. Registration hours are also listed in the FanimeCon pocket guide.

Lost Badge Policy

In the event that you lose or misplace your membership badge, please check with Lost & Found to see if it has been found and returned. If your badge has not been returned, then you may request a replacement badge at the cost of half of your original membership purchase price. If you lose or misplace your badge a second time (and assuming it has not been returned to Lost and Found), then you will be charged the full price for a badge replacement. A replacement badge will invalidate your original badge. There are NO refunds for your replacement badge if you should find your original badge.

Professional Professional Registration (“ProReg”) handles memberships for members of the press covering FanimeCon, as well as creators, executives, and marketing personnel of anime and manga industries. ProReg is located in Room 114 on the first floor of the San Jose Convention Center, Marriott side. Please see the ProReg FAQ on the FanimeCon website for more information.

They are found throughout the convention helping FanimeCon Members, and ensuring that the convention is as fun, and safe, as possible. Rovers have a lot of responsibilities, but can often be found doing the following: • General Safety: Preventing unsafe behavior and activities (such as running, blocking doorways, etc.), and dealing with unsafe situations (spills, facilityissues, etc.) as efficiently as possible.

• Access Control: Checking IDs for age-controlled events, and verifying credentials for restricted areas. • Escort Duties: Providing safety escorts for staff and members as needed or requested. • Policy Compliance: Enforcing the Weapons Policy and Code of Conduct. • Rovers are also equipped to assist with emergencies, harassment or missing persons. Essentials NOTE: Please be patient when trying to track down something you’ve lost. Many people who find a lost item or badge turn it in when they have a chance, which is not always right when they find it or when you lost it. To contact Lost & Found after the convention, email lost@fanime. com. Do not email during the run of the convention; it will not be received.

Convention Etiquette Photographs

Everyone enjoys photos at a convention, but no one appreciates having their picture taken by surprise. Ask permission beforehand to ensure the highest quality photographs. Remember to be considerate and never block traffic. Convention traffic is a terrible background, and it’s hard to take a nice shot when people walk into your photo or bump into you or your subject. Keep FanimeCon safe and take wonderful pictures!

Autographs

Each year, FanimeCon hosts guests of honor and, each year, FanimeCon members wish to obtain their autographs. For those members, FanimeCon will designate a special area for you to gain those cherished memories. The schedule will have the times and places where our guests of honor will sign autographs, so be sure to check the schedule because they may only have one autograph session. Remember, these people are our guests and should be treated with respect. Kindness and smiles go a long way. Have fun and enjoy your time with this year’s guests of honor!

Parent Lounge Tired of the hussle and bustle of the convention? Not really sure about this whole Fanime-thing your kids have dragged you to? Take a load off at our pleasant Parent Lounge! Located on the first floor of the Hilton, this is a place for parents to relax without worrying about accidentally walking through a photoshoot or tripping over someone’s prop. Relax and take a breather at the Parent Lounge before venturing out to explore Fanime!

New Mom Rooms We have set aside rooms for new mothers to make use of during the convention. Whether it be for some much-needed privacy, or just to have some peace and quiet, these lockable rooms will be available at the Hilton and DoubleTree hotels. For the Hilton Hotel location, the key is available in ConOps on Hilton 2nd Floor and it will be open the same hours. For the DoubleTree location, the key will be available at Clockwork Alchemy ConOps and it will be open the same hours as ConOps.

Code of Conduct Everyone must comply with all Federal, State, and Local laws, ordinances, and regulations at all times. Officers of the San Jose Police Department are on site. We will not peace-bond anything bought during the convention except props which meet all peacebonding requirements.

Props for Masquerade have a completely different set of rules. If you wish to carry a prop for Masquerade around the convention center, it must meet all peacebonding criteria (and have been peacebonded.) If it is only for Masquerade, it must stay in a car or hotel room except when you are taking it to, are at, or are taking it back to your car or room from Masquerade. Art by Elda The

Game Show The FanimeCon Game Show is back for another wonderful season of questions, contestants, prizes, and cash. The Game Show is a collection of different games, all with the same goal: contestants play against each other in order to crown a winner. Some of our games test strict trivia knowledge, while others require contestants to think on their feet. We have luck games, skill games, quiz games, picture games, buzzer games, and improv games. Our games cover hundreds of different topics, such as Sailor Moon, Star Wars, Sword Art Online, General Knowledge, TV anime, Doctor Who, old anime, new anime, video games, science fiction, Adult Swim, random topics, and so much more! Even if you don’t know everything about everything, we always encourage people to try. Almost all of our contestants are chosen directly from the audience. So, if you have that right mix of trivia knowledge, lightning reflex, and quick improvisation skills, come join us for the fun. We rotate our games every 30-45 minutes, so there are always plenty of chances to apply. You might just get selected! All contestants on stage are awarded prizes, from plushes to DVDs and gift cards. Winners can advance to our jackpot rounds to win up to $500 in cash. If you know your stuff, you might pay off your entire convention weekend. The FanimeCon Game Show runs on Stage Zero in the SJCC Concourse, from 9pm to midnight on Stage Zero.

He uploaded five episodes of Dead Fantasy, a sneak preview of an additional upcoming episode and two music videos focusing on the heroines of the series. Later

Oum announced that he had gotten a job working for Rooster Teeth, the series would be put on hold. From the most mystifying of intriques and dramas to the highflying action of the latest Kung-Fu movies, we have a sampling sure to impress. So come and watch for awhile, Grasshopper!

Late Night

Excitement of FanimeCon keeping you up at night? Do you want something better to watch than those late night infomercials? Worry not! We have you covered with an array of video programming that will feature a variety of films like campiest cult classics and eclectic oddities.

Anime Anarchy

Too extreme for the light of day! Late at night, after all the little chibi have gone to bed, sleepless hoards of worldly adults seek the most outrageous comedy, ghastly horror, and savage action. We have prepared a collection of programming sure to please even the most demanding of connoisseurs. Those seeking this edgy entertainment can find our calloused coliseum of cartoon chaos, an unflinching bombardment of violence, profanity, nudity, and other mature content to challenge even the most hardened oldschool otaku.

Midnight Madness

Some otaku hear voices… Voices that say something completely different…Sometimes, they do what the voices say… Welcome to the twisted bizarroworld of fanmade parodies: An altered state in which pimps orchestrate Armageddon by pop-music, dwarves sell life insurance to witches, and ninja do the Macarena. Can you stand the shocking goof that is Midnight Madness? Or will you keel over in cachinnation? It’s a marathon of merciless mockery, and only the most tenacious masochists will persevere until dawn.
