STADIUM STAFF SLEEP OUT FOR 2ND ANNUAL SLEEP WITH SIMON

SUCCESS FOR 3RD ANNUAL FORGET ME NOT SPORTING DINNER

LOCAL BUSINESSES JOIN RIVER CLEAN UP FOR GREENSTREAMS

This April we at the Stadium hosted our 2nd Annual Sleep Out for charity partner Simon on the Streets, to help raise funds to support those who are sleeping rough or are in danger of doing so. The purpose of the Sleep Out is not to replicate sleeping rough, as it cannot be recreated overnight, instead it is to raise money and awareness of this incredible charity.

On Thursday 31st March the Stadium played host to four fantastic sporting stars. Retired track and field athlete Steve Cram CBE, who acted again as host at the third annual ‘Forget Me Not Sporting Dinner’ interviewed former team mate and decathlete Daley Thompson, who won Olympic Gold Medals at the 1980 and 1984 games, 400m sprinter Jamie Baulch, who won the Olympic Silver Medal at the 1996 games and former Rugby Union player and current coach of Namibia Phil Davies.

Members of staff from KSDL, Revell Ward and Cummins Turbo once again joined forces with charity partner Greenstreams, in an effort to improve access to the River Colne and encourage local wildlife to flourish. This involved clearing debris, cutting down tree branches and brambles and installing steps to improve access to the beach below.

The second Sleep Out in Huddersfield was a great success for the charity with over 40 participants, we were able to create a great atmosphere and expect the final fundraising total to be in the region of £5000. Ed Gallagher, General Manager, Simon on the Streets
