Our wholehearted commitment to sustainability The team at Daval are not only looking for ways to create beautiful furniture, but also to become more sustainable, recycle more and reduce our CO2 emissions. In order to reduce our carbon footprint, in 2009 we worked closely with Talbott’s Biomass Energy Systems and the Carbon Trust to install a C4X heat exchanger that turns our waste into fuel which provides heat at our head office premises. By converting approximately 15 tonnes of waste each week, we’ve adopted a two-fold energy approach. Firstly, we send as much waste as possible back to our suppliers, which is then broken down and reused as new material. Secondly, by generating our own heating we’ve cut our gas bill and reduced our carbon footprint by 129.757 tonnes of CO2 every year.

Daval Kitchens 2012 pages_AW.indd 8

Our innovative i-lite

Responsible use of scarce resources

Another sustainable innovation that we’ve pioneered is i-lite – a lightweight board with an inside layer that consists of a cardboard honeycomb core, which is then enclosed by two thin chipboard layers. This construction provides great stability whilst remaining low weight, saving raw materials in the process. This means we consume only a small amount of material and also conserve the environment.

As a user of scarce natural resources, our policy is to source raw materials from suppliers with responsible attitudes towards the environment. This includes sourcing our timber exclusively from properly managed forests, without exceptions.

For over 15 years we’ve used the nightingale as a symbol within our logo. Renowned amongst songbirds, the nightingale symbolises our evergrowing commitment to the environment.

By using the principles of Dynamic Space you can easily shorten distances in your kitchen by planning according to typical kitchen tasks. This produces work areas called zones. As a result, you can keep everything exactly where you need it.

Gain more storage in your kitchen:

Kitchens can be divided into zones according to tasks. This shortens distances in kitchens and everything is where it should be. Tell your kitchen planner about your personal cooking habits, then he or she will be able to tailor your kitchen to your needs.

1) Use pull-outs instead of doors for easy access to interiors. 2) Daval’s full extension drawer provides optimal access and clear visibility of all contents. 3) Where practical, use inner dividing systems to organise interiors.

Ergonomic levels Sort your contents into items that you use all the time, often or seldom. If you store them at the right level, you won’t have to bend down or stretch so often.
