Swiss Domino Effect

For the first time ever, we welcome the two guys from the Swiss Domino Effect at FANTASY BASEL – The Swiss Comic Con. Their dominoes have already fallen at the Eurovision Song Contest, the biggest Swiss talents and other big projects like the dot.swiss campaign. This year in Basel they will build up a chain reaction of around 30,000 dominoes over the course of three days and in the end bring everything down.

The Belfast-born actor has also starred in TV series such as The Tudors, Number 2s, Vikings and the awardwinning series Line of Duty, while his big screen credits include Oliver Stone’s epic «Alexander» and the critically-acclaimed prison drama Starred Up.

The native Englishman Toby Sebastian played in Game of Thrones the prince and eldest son of the heir of Prince Doran Martell. Since the death of his character Sebastian is involved in various film productions worldwide and will soon be back on screens.

Netflix recently revealed that Jim Henson and Frank Oz’s seminal 1982 film The Dark Crystal is being remade as a TV series. Actor and stuntman Kiran Shah embodied the main character in the original movie and worked closely with Jim Henson and Frank Oz. At FANTASY BASEL - The Swiss Comic Con he will be holding a special Dark Crystal panel in connection with an exhibition dedicated to the Dark Crystal Universe and will be signing autographs.

Tom Wilton

The Englishman Tom Wilton has thrilled us by creating perfect looking creatures in many blockbusters. His last job was big in every sense of the word: In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Tom breathed life into the dinosaurs and «taught» them all the right moves. Wilton will be on site on Saturday and gives us an insight into his work at movie sets.

John Howe John Howe is considered one of the most influential illustrators of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Among other things, the Canadian has created many illustrations for Tolkien’s Middle-earth. As concept artist, much of what you see in the two film trilogies of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, comes from his pen. His distinctive style of Fantastic Realism is known worldwide and immortalized in many books. At FANTASY BASEL – The Swiss Comic Con 2018 John Howe will be on site on all three days, signing books for his fans and talking about his life and work on world famous projects. In addition, the Canadian will give an exclusive workshop for selected illustrators on all three days!

Sebastian Luca aka Bast is an artist from Sibiu, Romania. Most of Basts works are depictions of figures from European mythologies, such as demigods, heroes and beasts or fantasy illustrations on similar topics.

Since the discovery of the first exoplanet around a sun-like star in 1995, the number of known planets outside our solar system has grown to over 3000 today. Could life possibly exist on such an exoplanet? Are there planets orbiting 2 stars? How is it possible to discover planets orbiting around another star? Where does science end, where does fiction begin? The scientists of PlanetS will be present at FANTASY BASEL - The Swiss Comic Con on all 3 days and answer such questions. In addition, they will explore a cutaway model of the CHEOPS telescope. CHEOPS is the first ESA mission to be entirely planned and conducted under Swiss management.
