Though, in our first online booklet this year we would like to focus on the artists. Right now it is important that we can look forward to their work and occasionally distract ourselves from everyday life which is currently not always so „everyday“. A little joy and relaxation can help to stay healthy and happy. And the anticipation for the FANTASY BASEL – The Swiss Comic Con 2020 motivates us and many artists to work towards being able to offer you a unique happening in November. LOOK OUT FOR OUR ART EGGS AND WIN! We invite you to the perfect Easter egg hunt for those who have to stay at home. The Swiss artist Ursus Wehrli brought order to the art world with his books „Kunst aufräumen„ kunstaufraeumen.ch. At Easter, we are now doing the opposite: we hide art for you!
Count all Easter eggs that can be found in this booklet and write us an email with the right number to contest@fantasybasel.ch. The search is completed on Easter Tuesday. The competition includes all eggs that can be found in this booklet; count each and every egg to win!

The roadshow tells the fascinating story of space travel and space research, from the past to the present and right up to the future of humanity in space. Exciting talks with researchers showed that reality can be at least as exciting as fantasy. National Centre of Competence in Research PlanetS The discovery of the first giant planet outside our solar system by Swiss astronomers in 1995 spawned a unique revolution in modern astronomy.
In addition to scientific research, the NCCR PlanetS takes on extensive coordination tasks in the field of planetary science, from the creation of a national “roadmap” for instrumentation and space missions to the promotion of young researchers, especially women. In addition, it leads a large, multi-regional program for imparting knowledge to a wide range of people. We look forward to PlanetS’ further participation at FANTASY BASEL The Swiss Comic Con! gehört zu den populärsten Comiczeichnern Spaniens. Berühmt machte ihn die erstmals 1958 in einem Jugendmagazin erschienene Reihe „Mortadelo y Filemón“ („Clever und Smart“). Dass seine Werke bis heute geschätzt, gesammelt und neu verlegt werden, beweist, dass sein Humor generationsübergreifend funktioniert. Kennzeichen seiner Arbeit ist die wahnwitzige Dynamik der Bewegungen, die Lust an der maßlosen Übertreibung und der Sinn für pointiert eingesetzte Details. In „Clever und Smart“ kultivierte Ibáñez meisterlich das Stilmittel des Running Gag. Auf die unmöglichen Verkleidungen von Fred Clever, der von seinem rachedürstenden Kollegen Jeff Smart verfolgt wird, warten Fans stets mit einem breiten Grinsen. Der 81jährige, der 1994 mit dem „Großen Preis des Salón del Cómic de Barcelona“ für sein Gesamtwerk und 2001 mit der „Goldenen Verdienstmedaille der Schönen Künste“ ausgezeichnet wurde, ist bis heute aktiv.

“COVER REVEAL” by Maurizio Manzieri Maurizio Manzieri considers himself an independent freelance artist and teacher. He finds it useful to diversify his activities, so he can switch from one business field to another in case of necessity. So, while missing the conventions and live meetings with you all in this period, he is working for several publishers in the book industry. Jeton Shali’s Top 5 Jeton Shali (LightWav3r) has been with the company since the first edition of the FANTASY BASEL - The Swiss Comic Con and takes fantastic photos of the festival and cosplayers every year. Most visitors will know him at least from flashing by; because if something interesting happens, Jeton is there (and with us, a lot of interesting stuff happens at the same time).
It was actually planned to show a photo exhibition of Jeton Shali’s greatest snapshots from five years of FANTASY BASEL - The Swiss Comic Con. INSIDE (2016, Playdead) How do you follow up a critically successful game like LIMBO? Well, by throwing yourself smack-dab into a new project. INSIDE plays to the same strength as its predecessor (immaculate gameplay, philosophical context), but gets it finetuned to an ambiguous masterpiece. Virtually in the Cartoon Museum The Cartoon Museum Basel enables a virtual tour of the currently closed exhibition of pictures by Christoph Fischer. Lucerne artist, draftsman and illustrator Christoph Fischer observes living environments where many prefer to rather look away. As for example in his drawn reports on an impoverished district of Chicago or the Lucerne train station square, he documents the lives of people on the margins of society.
